PLAGUED RPG

The Great Hall was decorated with elegant tapestries in the four Hogwarts colours; the lion, snake, eagle and badger stood tall and proud from each corner of the room. Golden trays with little nibbles and pastries and glasses of champagne were drifting around, politely offering their cargo to whomever might be loitering and talking about their old school years. The trophies through the ages were displayed in a huge glass cabinet, laid out so guests could enjoy their achievements.
The bewitched ceiling showed the perfect sky outside, a silvery-white crescent moon hanging above the crowds gathered below. The band were playing a soft selection of easy listening songs (Unicorn in the Garden, Sparks Flying for You, Broomsticks Over Rivertides etc...) until Flitwick took his place behind the Headmaster's stand, at the head of the hall. The golden owl spread its wings as he stepped up onto his rather raised platform behind it.

"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. I'm afraid, Professor Horace Slughorn was supposed to be giving the introductions tonight but he's feeling a little under the weather, so he's reported to Madam Pomfrey to get himself a pepper-up potion and then he'll be here to make his own speech," Flitwick explained, "But I just wanted to welcome you all back myself, many old faces here I recognise fondly! It's nice to see you all so happy, healthy and successful! I wish you all a wonderful evening! Enjoy!"

However, no thread may go beyond 10pm on the night of the ball.
Please be aware that we expect EVERY character to be at the ball (except 7th and 6th year students of course.

Edit: Also, there's been a rose-garden set up outside, much like the Yule Ball had one. It's all magically heated, for people who'd like to catch up somewhere quiet...]]
