Her mood had turned to a more sour one when she had taken a five minute break from life to turn on the television, only to Harmony's face plastered on it. That wasn't new. What was new was the location. She was now in New York, and still spreading the Slayer hate. She was in NY, and the squad there had no official leader. Even though she knew it would be useless, she still tried the phone, attempting to connect first to the New York squad, and then she tried to call Rona, and Robin. Neither of them had worked either. Her mood went below sour.

No point in glaring at the phone all night. Spike had asked her to come over, and after a brief deliberation she didn't see why not. Soon enough she found herself first outside the Factory, and then working her way in, glancing at security briefly. She didn't really see the appeal in constantly watching people beat the crap out of each other. The money was a draw, yes, but it didn't keep her attention long.

Next time she'd have to make a mental note to ask Spike just where he'd be waiting, instead of having to scan the crowd. You'd think platinum blonde hair like that would be easier to find?

The bar seemed like the best place to start. Glancing over her shoulder at the door for just a moment, the Slayer turned and began to move her way through the crowed, her conversation with Kennedy going through her head. What was she doing here? She had no idea. Buffy was well aware that any real relationship with a vampire was impossible. She was going to get old, he wasn't, she was probably going to die before she hit forty, and he was well over forty. And which he was she thinking about anyway? Not that either of them made sense.

Still, she was here, and stopped just short of the bar, looking for Spike.

The bar was a good guess. Taking the view of the place into consideration, it was the best spot for Spike to stand down and watch everything play out - both in the cages and out on the floor. He could catch the beginnings of a fight or even spot someone cheating out on a game of cards. Spike didn't quite catch everything that went on inside of his club, but he did indeed take note of a lot of the things that went down. Not many got away without having to deal with him either.

Sliding back the shot of vodka, Spike slammed the glass down onto the bar and waved the bartender over for a refill. He was feeling quite energetic tonight. Pleased, even. It was likely that no one there ever saw him in as good of a mood as he was in now. Even his sarcasm seemed friendly and no one could quite figure why.

No one except for Spike, of course. After all, how often did one find one problem slipping out of their grasp, only to eliminate several while leaving more opportunity for good things to happen? He raised his refilled glass up, giving an invisible figure a salute, before downing more of the burning liquid down once more. "Cheers, Harmony. You won't be missed."

His tiny farewell to the already missing vampire was immediately forgotten when he caught sight of one of the reasons why he was feeling so upbeat tonight. Buffy. Looking more than confident, Spike hopped up from his stool and wandered over to greet her. "It's about time you showed, I was getting bored."

And there he was. Stopping in her spot just as he reached her she arched an eyebrow, and then looked around the room. "You mean the morons beating down morons doesn't entertain you for long?" she said with slight amusement. He owned this place, shouldn't that mean it would keep him occupied? Not that they were all morons, she was sure many of them would be a bitch to take on, but some of them really did make her wonder if they had a brain.

She had been tempted a few times to actually see what it was all about, try her luck at one of the cage matches, see if she could win some money. But then again she spent enough of time shoving her fist down demons throats, she wasn't sure she wanted to do it in her time off as well. Not exactly a step toward a semi-sane life.

Her mind was more than occupied. What she wanted more than anything was to finish the plans John Winchester had started and see Harmony dead. Now she was in NY harassing her Slayers there, making life more difficult for them, and they had no leader. She knew Spike would see that something was annoying her- he always did. For some damn reason he always seemed to know when she was lying. Buffy still hadn't figured out how after all these years, it was probably best to just let it go.

"Celebrating the departure of Miss MTV?" she asked, bringing her eyes back to Spike.

"Not when each moron is as predictable as the last," Spike replied, smirking. Out of all the years of experience that he had, both in fighting and observing them, it really came as no surprise that Spike had seen most of everything when it came to the typical fighting routines. Most of those who chose to reel their way through the cages failed to show any style, class, or unique moves. It was all the same. Boring and repetitive. He'd get a pleasant surprise every now and again, but it seemed like lately no one of great interest had chosen to pass through the area. What a shame.

"Celebrating a lot of things tonight." Spike gestured toward the bar, offering Buffy a seat. "Care for a drink?" He didn't wait for her to respond. Spike whistled for the bartender, then dropped down into his previously occupied stool. He examined Buffy quietly for a moment, immediately sensing that there was something underneath that friendly surface of hers itching to fight it's way out. What was it this time? Was she still all hot and bothered about Harmony leaving? "You want to tell me what's on your mind or am I going to have to guess?" Spike asked the question casually, leaning against the bar as though nothing terribly important was going on. In truth, he always found whatever was going on in Buffy's head to be interesting. He supposed it meant that he cared.

"You should have Faith come back. Watching her kick someones ass was probably an interesting one." or maybe a short fight. She knew the other slayer could be more than a little creative, fighting against her had never not been interesting, even if who won always seemed to go back and forth.

She wasn't much of a drinker these days. Casually, sure, when she was with certain people. When was the last time she'd taken part in a slayer party. Maybe she was just getting old. She probably was getting old. All the new slayers made her feel like she was in a completely different world from them. Though she wouldn't say no to one or two. So when the bartender came over she placed and order.

Buffy staid standing, for now, though she leaned against the counter in relaxed manner, a tiny smile come to her face. "You know one of these days I'm just going make you guess just to see if you're as psychic as I think you are." A psychic vampire, that was exactly what the world needed. Thank god he was on their side. Sighing, she picked up her drink that the bartender delivered and took a sip. "She got away." Buffy said flatly. Harmony leaving wasn't a victory. It was carelessness on their part. A defeat almost. "And now she's in New York where there's a cell of slayers with no real leader." because they were both here. "I want her dead."

"The interest doesn't hold forever," Spike pointed out, "she's always winning. Imagine how many people want to get into a ring with a Slayer who doesn't stop beating the hell out of everyone who tries to fight. Might mix up the hype a bit - who doesn't want to come in and watch a Slayer kick someone's ass? - but after a while..." Spike dragged a hand across the bartop, sweeping up some of the smashed up peanut shells that the bartender had yet to confiscate. Lazy bastard. "It's useless. I need money. Means I need people willing to fight. Can't do anything if there's an audience and no show, see?"

Spike smirked again. Psychic. He'd met a few of those in his lifetime. All pains in the ass, too. "Not psychic. Just know how to read you." It wasn't difficult if one knew her. The key to Buffy was looking into the eyes. The smiles and words held no relevance when it came to what she was feeling deep down on the inside.

"Seems to me more like Harm chickened out and ran," Spike replied, shrugging. "In battle, you look at two enemies and the side that ends up retreating is usually the one that has lost. Harmony lost." That was how Spike saw it and it wasn't going to change anytime soon. "Sure, the consequences are gonna be a bitch to see through, but you can't worry yourself to death over it. You can't do anything, Buffy. Look around you. You're stuck here. If you keep on dreading what might happen if those other girls don't watch themselves, you're going to hurt yourself. It's not going to do you any good, so I suggest you take a look at the bigger picture, eh? The whole entire dream team is out there somewhere, working on the rest of the world. They were able to help you with the apocalypses back in Sunnydale, I imagine they can handle Harmony and her stupidity. Have a little..." He rolled his eyes. This was what happened when he hung out with Faith too often here at the bar. "Have a little faith."

After a while of her kicking everyones ass, it was just that. Her kicking everyones ass. Same thing as the last time. Fair enough. Glancing over at the current fight, it wasn't hard to tell who was going to win and who wasn't. And it wasn't interesting. She didn't need to see more fighting than what she already did.

Was she really that easy to read? Buffy could usually do a pretty good job of lying when she had to. Maybe the Xander and Willow from her world could figure it out, but usually that was it. Shaking her head, she sighed. "I think I became far to use to people not being able to." none of the girls every second guessed, ever questioned. At least not any of the general slayers.

"If she was running why would she run straight to a Slayer Cell?" that wasn't the way she saw it. "Harmony's not that smart anyway. She's going because it will boost her own popularity." and make life that much harder for the cell there. You can't do anything, Buffy. No, she couldn't, and that was what got to her. Pissed her off more than anything. For once someone strong enough was actually fucking with her to a point she could literally do nothing.

He was right, to a point. Giles, Willow, Robin, they were all out there. The Slayers from the original squad. All the new ones. She still didn't like it. Taking another drink, she set it down on the table, looking down at the liquid. "You're right." she said flatly. "I can't do anything. I started something, and now I can't do anything about it." Someone was controlling her, and she couldn't hit back. That never sat well with her.

Arching an eyebrow, she looked over at Spike. "You've been hanging out with Faith way too much." she mused.

"She went there because she knows you're here. She's afraid of you, Buffy. Anyone with two eyes and a lick of common sense can see it. Why do you think she never came out and challenged you up for a good fight? Hiding behind her cameras and security teams, never telling anyone where she was. Harmony was afraid. Smarter than most people gave her credit for, too. She ran off because she thought that going out there would be less of a challenge. We've got a whole team of people here who have been doing this for who even knows how long. All of AI, Angel, me, you, Faith. Do you really think she was naive enough to think she stood a chance here?"

He was trying to cheer Buffy up, mostly. Spike didn't exactly know why Harmony decided to up and leave. There was the note, of course, but that wasn't enough to give him a direct idea on what was going on in that very light head of hers. The important thing was making sure that Buffy didn't let something like this drag herself down. Girl like her already had the weight of the world on her shoulders. She didn't need Harmony's stupidity to add on to that.

"You can't. It's a real bitch, the world is fucked up, and now you can't do anything about a vampire you want to slay. She's gone. There are plenty of other bad guys around here for you to sink your stakes into. Let the others handle her." Because if they didn't, she'd be back. She was like a moth to a light. Couldn't stay away from it no matter how much banging her head into it hurt.

"Exactly what I was thinking," Spike said with a grin, raising his glass up before taking another swig. "Been hanging out with all you Slayer-types too long. It's starting to make me look like a goody-goody."

"It's not just me she's afraid of. She's got a reason to be afraid of most of us." she pointed out, then with a cheeky smirk she added "Except you. Blondie bear." since apparently the vampire should have left with the impression that Spike was on her side. Apparently their fake fight had been convincing enough. She almost wanted to know how that conversation went. Buffy knew Harmony was afraid, but half the time she did wonder if she thought her crack security team would be enough to keep her safe. Did she think Harmony was naive? Yes. She just didn't know how naive.

"I'm just not sure they can handle her." she added, finally sinking down into a stool, crossing one leg over the other. "For all we knew she unknowingly has Twilight's protection. In which case, I don't want them getting killed trying to get rid of her." she wasn't even totally sure their own plan would have completely worked if Twilight was helping Harmony, even if Harmony didn't know it. "There are plenty of other bad guys for Faith, Sarah and Nathan to sink their stakes into and tell people what to do. I'm not in charge here. I can't sink my stake into anyone I want without someone assuming I'm undermining the authority at AI." Or at least that was how she still saw it. It would probably stay that way for a while too.

"Hate to break it to you, but you pretty much are a goody-goody now. It's your own fault for helping to save the world." she added with a shrug, "But in your favor, we always kick everyones ass, so that has to mean something."
