Before he'd ended up in the bizzaro version of Los Angeles, Booth's daily routine had consisted of waking up long before the sun rose for a long run in the early morning dark before the rest of the world woke up around him. It was one of the most peaceful times of the day, allowing him to collect his thoughts before he headed straight into the chaos of the day, something of a meditation.
It was one of the routines he stuck to for a degree of normalcy once he'd been flung into LA. The only difference was he had to deal with the front end of the world waking up, adjusting his running schedule closer to sunrise so whatever went bump in the night was too busy scurrying for cover before the sun rose instead of bothering him.
His leg still ached where Big Red had seen fit to shove a sword into it, the healing wound of which he tended quietly and had kept the incident from anyone who lived at the Fire House with him, even Bones. That was a matter he planned on handling himself without getting anyone else involved. It pissed him off to no end. To make matters worse, after his vampire encounter with Bones, he had a patched up shoulder to add to the list of walking injuries he'd sustained.
Booth didn't even see where getting his ass kicked across the city was even productive or counted as being in the line of duty. He shook his head sharply, as if to knock the frustrating thoughts out of his head in order to focus on starting the day off on the right foot. He reached a small plaza in front of a large office building and slowed down. Coming to a complete stop, he bent forward, breathing deeply from the early morning air.
