Who: L.L. Houston, Bucky Barnes and NPC Olivia.
Where: One of Bucky's safe houses, then streets of New York City.
When: Evening, May 7th. About 24 hours after James' kidnapping. (backdated)
What: Even those in hiding need groceries and Olivia is going to take this opportunity to get rid of the recently revealed mage.
Rating: R. Trigger warning: extreme violence and torture.
Bucky and L.L. didn't stay at her apartment long after the latter's failed attempted at scrying for James and Loki's location. At Bucky's urging, she had packed a bag filled with clothes (including her costume) and necessities and went with him to one of the numerous safe houses he had scattered around the city. It was safer, he assured, and she wasn't going to argue. Once they had arrived, he tried to insist she sleep so that she could recoup the energy she spent earlier in the evening, but that was easier said than done. She was absolutely wired. She talked, fiddled on her phone, looked over his stash of weapons and pretty much did everything but sleep. She was pretty sure Bucky had been seriously contemplating shooting her with a tranquilizer by the time she finally willed herself to sleep in the early hours of the morning.
With such a late night, it was no surprise she slept through most of the day, her eyes opening just as the sun was beginning to set. Not that she was aware of that fact, what with the newspapers covering the windows. She sat up and stretched, her neck and back cracking as she did so. Gods, her body ached, no doubt from the combination of the fighting she did yesterday, the tensed muscles from stress, and the god awful mattress she had slept on.
She reached for her phone, swiping the screen with her thumb as she brought it up to her face. She scanned her text messages, frowning. No responses from Strange, Thor, or anyone else she had messaged about James and Loki last night. She briefly wondered if something was wrong with her phone, but the two text messages waiting for her from her brother and Olivia told her that her phone was definitely working. Why hadn't they contacted her then? She'd think about that later. Right now, she needed to wake up.
"Taking a shower," L.L. announced groggily as she staggered toward the bathroom, her bag hanging off her shoulder. She unceremoniously dropped the bag onto the floor and closed the door, turning the shower on so the water could heat up while she undressed. "Music, music," she mumbled to herself as she tapped at her phone, placing it onto the windowsill and stepping into the shower once her playlist started.
Forty minutes later, she stepped out of the bathroom fully clothed with a towel wrapped around her head and phone, now quiet, tucked into her back pocket. She looked to her companion for the first time since waking up, covering a yawn with one hand as she waved with the other.
"Mornin'," she greeted with a tired smile. "Well, evenin', I guess." Her stomach grumbled, deciding it needed to announce its displeasure at not having eaten in nearly twenty-four hours right right at that moment. She couldn't help rolling her eyes at the timing. "Got any food? Apparently my stomach is craving sustenance."
