"Ladies and gentlemen, citizens of the United States of America, good evening. My name is Alexander James Luthor, and I am coming to you tonight to discuss the future of this country.
"No longer is the United States the country it once was. The pinnacle of success, the source of power and commerce, the focus of the ideals of prosperity. The past few years have one ones of uncertainty, of trials and stresses, and of great change, not all of it good. Our economy alone has become unable to support even the lowest of incomes, indicating a breakdown between commerce and the government that is suppose to oversee it.
"Along with this, we continue to wage wars, cut back money towards education, science, and government programs. Those that make up the greatest part of the population of this country suffer and continue to suffer, with little hope of change.
"Change. Hope. Was that not what we were promised almost four years ago? Incredible to think back to that time when the country was poised for success after long years of depression. And incredible now to think how much has changed, but not for the better.
"Now more than ever, the people demand change, and insist on the idea that this country can once again take its place at the top. Our history is peppered with such examples. Our founding fathers would not accept anything less than the utmost best for the country that struggled and fought its way out of oppression and unfair treatment of its citizens. We are a nation built upon the struggle for equality and hope.
"But there are those in power now that would insist that we must be patient, just wait for things to smooth out, that this little downturn in quality of life in America is temporary. It's been almost four years. Hardly temporary. In those years since, American citizens have become more vocal with their demands from their government, as they should. If something does not work, then there is the right to demand that it does.
"And for that to happen, we need change, America. A change of how this country is run, and therefore a change in who runs this country.
"It is therefore, my great honor to announce my candidacy for the election of the President of the United States of America in the following year. My campaign will begin shortly after this broadcast, and I will begin my tour of the United States in 2012. I hope to meet many of you, and discuss my hopes for change in this country.
"Because we deserve the hope for real change. Goodnight, and may the best candidate win."
