WHO: Saint Patrick, Patroclus, Perseus, Nicholas, Jesse, JJ, Joey, Nikkie, anyone I missed
WHAT: A rescue of sorts
WHEN: Sunday morning
WHERE: A basement, and then the hospital
WARNINGS: Aftermath of Antichrist torture
Patrick, Patroclus and Perseus spent the late hours of Saturday night and into the early hours od Sunday, searching the city for signs of Nicholas. Hearing a prayer was proof Nicholas was alive, and it was also likely proof he had been somewhere with someone who knew how to block prayers up until that point. That pointed toward a demon or Lucifer himself, though Patrick had a feeling nothing could have gotten through at all, were it Lucifer.
They started with properties which they suspected were owned by demons in the city, or anything abandoned on the way there. After an entire night of nothing, they were about to call it a night when Patrick froze on the way to Perseus' car. "Hey. Hey, Patrick, you okay?"
Patrick held up a hand, closing his eyes to listen more intently. "It's him," he said finally. "I heard him again. He's- Shit, he's really close by." Without another word, Patrick simply turned and walked South, and Patroclus glanced over at Perseus.
"Are we supposed to follow him?"
Perseus shrugged and hurried to follow the saint. "It's that or explain to Clio how we lost him."
Patroclus' eyes widened and he hurried to keep up with the pair of them. They wended their way around a few blocks and three alleyways until they reached a rather non-descript building. Patrick pointed at the door and he nodded. "He's in there. He's in there somewhere."
"Say no more," Perseus walked to the front door and punched his fist through the glass, unlocking it from the inside. Patrick and Patroclus stared at him in shock, but quickly hurried inside. The ground floor of the house was empty, and it looked like someone had left in a hurry. There were a few knick-knacks here and there, but not much to say someone actually lived there.
Patrick wended his way through the house, leading the Greeks to a door which opened to a flight of stairs. "Basement," Patrick said, descending slowly. "I don't think anyone else is here."
They reached the door Patrick pointed to, and he chewed on his lip. "He's there. I don't know how we'll open it though," Patrick worried. To his shock, Patroclus reached out and twisted the lock on the knob and pushed the door open without a word. "...oh."
They trio stepped inside the tiny room, immediately covering their noses at the smell of unwashed body. There was a dim light illuminating the small bed and there, curled up on top of it, was Nicholas. "Shit," Patroclus growled, rushing forward. "Call an ambulance!" he shouted, which Perseus immediately moved to do.
Nicholas felt a hand on his shoulder and he flinched away roughly. "Fuck off-" he muttered, refusing to open his eyes.
"Boss, it's me," Patroclus said, sitting on the bed. He stared at Nicholas in horror as he took in what exactly had been done to his friend. "Gods, Nicholas-"
Nicholas' eyes fluttered open and he gazed up at Patroclus. "Oh, hey," he said, his voice weak and raspy. "Nice hardware, Ace."
Patroclus blinked at Nicholas and then he cracked a small smile. "Not the first time I've heard that," he said, leaning down to plant a kiss on Nicholas' head. "We've been looking for you for weeks."
"Well I haven't moved so you all aren't very good at it," Nicholas said, levity in his broken voice. "Get me the fuck out of here."
"Help is coming," Patrick finally spoke up. "I heard you. Praying. Just today."
"Been praying since I got here," Nicholas whispered. "He left today though. Antichrist. It was the Antichrist. Thought I'd give it another go."
"It worked," Patrick nodded, horrified the Antichrist had had Nicholas all this time.
Soon enough an ambulance arrived and bundled them to the hospital. En route, Patrick called Jesse and JJ, who said they would meet in the waiting room, which was where Patrick was currently stationed. Nicholas had been rushed off to the ER and there was nothing they could do but wait.
