Who: Hecate & Hypnos
What: Clothes shopping!
When: Sunday afternoon
Where: Chthonia, then various shops
Hypnos really wasn't excited about being forced to attend the party Zeus and Hera were throwing. But he didn't have the clout to refuse, like his mother or Chronos might. So he was ging to be there. And he figured he might as well look presentable, and it only made sense to enlist Hecate's help.
He swung by the shop to pick her up, sweeping inside in his usual cheerful manner and calling out a greeting to Hecate.

Hecate figured if she didn't show, it'd be noticed. As one of the few remaining Titans, and not bound to Zeus by loyalty, she knew she had a role to play. And either way Bia would be there, and she hoped Peitho would be too.
When she heard Hypnos voice she finished with the last of the customers before walking to him with a grin. "Hey there. How's my favorite minion?"

"Boss-lady!" he replied with a grin. "I am a melting minion, but apart from that, not doing too bad."
He gestured outside. "I don't have a car, so I got a cab here, it's ready to go whenever you are." He sighed a bit. "Although quite honestly, I'd rather not be doing this at all, but I'm not important enough to sneak off and not be noticed, you know?"

"Poor melting minion," smiling she handed him a bottle of water before picking up a white umbrella.
"Ready, and this will keep out the sun. I burn very easily." She nodded, "I'm just important enough I think. One of the last Titans, didn't swear myself to Zeus. Besides I get the advantage of seeing my cousins." She shrugged and took his arm. "Lead on."

"Oooh, thank you," he said gratefully, opening the bottle and taking a gulp.
"Awesome, away we go," he said, letting her gather her things and listening while she spoke. "And that makes sense, I guess. I'd rather not speak to Zeus if at all possible, he probably still remembers the time I put him to sleep. Although in all fairness, Hera made me do it. She kind of freaks me out."
He settled his other hand over her arm, it made him feel like a gentleman of old, and he said as much. "As you wish, m'lady," he grinned, leading her outside and opening the taxi door. "Any thoughts on where we should go?" he asked.

She grinned at the title and got into the taxi cab, giving the driver the street she knew was loaded with shops. "The high end shops first. Boss, Calvin Klein. Things like that." She settled into the seat and set the umbrella over her lap.
Her fingers weaved into the air, mostly so the driver wouldn't fully hear them. "Hera's job is to freak people out I think. As for Zeus. Well." She shrugged, "Sometimes I'm not sure if he cares. But if he does, best to play nice. Olympians carry more grudges then is really healthy for them." Not that she didn't, but she didn't have the resources or man power to take her revenge.

"Seeing as how you're the one who knows about this sort of thing, I'm going to just smile and nod," Hypnos replied, doing exactly that.
Even though she's worked a little magic, he still lowered his voice a little. "Yeah, well, let me join the long line of people saying she does it really well," he muttered. "And I'm hoping to just...not draw Zeus' attention, I guess. That's probably better for me. Also? Tell me about it." He slumped back in the seat and rolled his eyes.

"I don't, I just learned out of habit." She grinned, glad to get out of the shop. The sun disagreed with her but she'd been inside too long.
She chuckled and patted his hand, "I'll be there for distracting purposes. And you reap what you sow. Hera is what they made her to be. It's kind of sad. I don't know. Maybe I would do the same in her shoes? But I knew what kind of person Hermes was when they married me to him. Besides he lets me have my own lovers so I shouldn't look the gift horse in the mouth." She smirked, "like any of us are any better?"

"Well at least you learned, my goal as just 'don't look like a hobo', beyond that, most style is lost on me," he replied with a self-deprecating grin.
"And I am very glad for that," he grinned. "True enough. We're all what they made us to be. And I guess we don't really know what it's like to be in her shoes, but yeah, I guess it's a little sad."
"At least your marriage turned out better than most," he remarked. "And OK, yeah, we're not much better, but Olympians hold grudges on an epic scale. I'm more small potatoes."

She chuckled to that, "you have like a million sisters. How do you not have any style?" She nodded, "Hera did not get the biggest of sticks in it all. Zeus did as he usually does. Saw something he liked and took it. He then forgot she was her father's daughter."
Her smile dropped a bit before she shrugged, "we got to an arrangement. When I was young, I didn't want to marry. My mother wanted me to marry one of my cousins. Keep the Titan blood pure you know. Then she was taken from me, and my Father didn't know what to do with me. Then there was the war. By the time the dust was settled and I wanted to marry, to at least keep myself safe, I was given as second wife to someone I didn't see all that often. I mean, it benefited me because I'm independent, but." She shrugged, "sometimes I wouldn't mind a marriage like Hades has, or even Eros. True love."

He laughed. "That may be the case, but they're all off doing their own thing, and they're not usually up for giving me style tips." He nodded in agreement as she kept speaking. "She definitely is." He'd never met Cronus, but he'd heard stories. And he'd met the Olympians.
He noticed her smile slip and said, "Sorry, I think I went and put my foot in my mouth again, I didn't mean to upset you. I just meant..." He trailed off, shrugging. "I guess I don't really know what I meant. But I know what you mean about true love. I only got married because Hera needed a favor, she practically shoved Pasithea at me to get me to say yes. I haven't seen her for a long time, though."

She smiled at him and nudged him, "it's fine. You didn't hurt my feelings. Just the way of the world." Smiling she kissed his cheek. "stop fussing, we're here." She paid the driver, nudging Hypnos out of the car and getting out after him. She led him into the store, and along the racks of clothes. "Do you miss her? I mean, I imagine you're somewhat fond of her?"

He smiled. "Well, good. And I guess you're right." He beamed as she kissed his cheek, and climbed out of the cab, making sure the door didn't swing shut in her face.
He followed her inside, looking around at all the racks of clothes, and feeling really out of his depth. He may have clutched at her arm for strength. But just for a second. There was a reason he lived in things that were comfortable. They were easy to pick out and maintain, and everything here looked like it really wasn't.
He forced himself back to the conversation, idly picking through a display of shirts. "Sometimes," he admitted. "I mean, I have Morpheus and Thanatos and you, and however many other of my siblings are running around, but it's not the same, you know? She was really sweet, goddess of rest to my sleep. I'd been eyeing her for a little before Hera ever got involved." He ducked his head. "So to answer your question, yeah. Pretty fond."

She gave a smile and nudged him, moving to the suits, "you're so adorable. I don't really get it. I don't have that. I mean, I love Hermes. I love Peitho. But I don't really miss Hermes when he's not there. He was only mine when he guided souls you know. I got used to being alone. And I don't have siblings either."
She didn't want to really acknowledge if she felt lonely so she pushed past it. She'd been alone for ages. She was used to it. "Anyway. Suits. Don't do a bowtie. Ties look much better."

He grinned and blushed a little, ducking his head again. "Part of my charm," he said cheekily. "But yeah, she was really something. I missed her a lot at first, but now it's been so long, it's not as sharp as it used to be. I mean, I'd love it if she came back, but if she doesn't, well...then she doesn't. I still have all those memories."
He nudged her hip with his. "Well now your parents are here, and you've got me, and your cousins. Pretty soon you'll get sick of us." He smiled.
"Yuck, no bowtie," he agreed. He browsed for a minute before pulling one out and saying, "So, something like this? And can I get a hat?"

She set a hand on his shoulder then, "She'll be back I'm sure. Then you need to bring her over. I want to meet her. And in a way, Hera did you favor." She shrugged, "a strange one, but one none the less."
She nodded at the suit, "see and you say you have no taste. That's gorgeous. And yes dear. You can have a hat."

"I hope so," he said earnestly. "And I definitely will, you'd probably like her." He tilted his head. "Huh. I never thought of it that way. I guess she did." A small smile came over his face. "Makes it a little harder to think of her as completely mean."
He grinned. "It just looked simple, but, like...classic? If that makes any sense. I should see if they have it in my size." He hung onto it until he could find a clerk, and started browsing for ties and hats. He found a fedora he liked, and stuck it on his head to show her. "What do you think?"

"I like almost anyone. But they don't always like me. I'm too cheery, a titan, and I feel creepy. Too much hanging around the Underworld." She smirked, "Hera has her reedeming qualities, just like everyone else. They're just buried really deep with her."
She grinned to the choice. "I like it. Looks lovely. You'll catch all the eyes. And it's on me. I have some spare cash."
