Hayley Marshall [Narrative or open to Pack]; Her first full after le babeh
Sunday night, August 10, 2014; IDK where yet!
PGish (dark themes, ALL THE PAIN, there's really not much trigger stuff haha); Complete
It was just as bad as she remembered it, but...the worst was over now.
Hayley had been worried about this moment ever since Andrea had been born. But at least she hadn't had to deal with a full moon immediately following that. She'd had a few weeks to prepare herself for it. But then, what could ever prepare her for something like this? She had gone eight months without making the shift, a lucky biological factor for the female wolves of her world. There would be no reproducing werewolf lines if the females still had to change during pregnancy, no baby could survive that. But now, she would have to. She would have no choice. And she knew how bad it could get. Her best guess was that this would be no different than her first shift after activating the gene over four years ago. And that wasn't something she was looking forward to.
She had gone with Derek earlier in the week to find a spot that seemed isolated enough. He seemed fairly anti-locking her up, even though she'd mentioned that's usually what they did back home. He seemed to think that between all of them, they'd be able to keep her distracted and handled well enough that it would all be fine. And she had accepted him as her Alpha, and even if it didn't mean the exact same thing in their worlds, it still meant something to her. And she trusted him. And she trusted Cora. Isaac didn't seem like a bad kid, and Erin reminded Hayley too much of herself. The only pack member she was entirely against was the older Hale, Peter. He reminded her of Klaus, and babydaddy or not, that wasn't exactly a compliment.
She arrived at the spot that had been chosen and let out a long breath, looking around. The shift would start soon, she could feel it, a sort of tingle that spread across her body and lit her skin on fire, burned straight into her bones. But that was nothing compared to what was coming. Hayley let out a groan. She tossed the bag she'd brought with extra clothes in it beside the base of a tree before dropping down onto the ground herself. There was little she could really do to prepare herself, so she just waited. She'd given an estimate to Derek and the others of how long it should take, and insisted she'd rather be alone for the duration of it. Not that she was so sure Derek would listen to that part. He was the Alpha. He would probably feel an obligation to keep an eye on her, even if it was from a distance and she didn't know it.
The first pang of the change shot through her like needles, piercing every part of her body and she let out a groan of pain. "Here we go," she muttered as it continued, only growing worse by the minute, the needle pricks changing to a feeling of being sliced by a thousand tiny knives. It was enough to make a person want to just pass out from the pain, and if she were human she would have done, but as a werewolf it wasn't quite as easy to reach that point of pain.
Some indeterminate time later, but no more than two hours could have passed she was sure, the cries of pain turned into inhuman growls and it was worse with every passing moment, more white-hot pain spreading across her body, bones twisting, breaking, reshaping to force her from human to wolf. Until finally, roughly four hours into the ordeal, it was finally done and she took a moment to stretch out her muscles, trying to work out the kinks and the pain that still shot straight through to her bones. It was just as bad as she remembered it, but she was thankful that the worst was over now.
