(inter)National Novel Writing Month

Dreamed of a nice romantic (non-explicit) scene, and upon the transition to another scene it was revealed to be an ad for a TV show, the episode where my character dies the most gruesome death! This woke me up and now I'm curious how it would've happened :) (being the character, not the actress, I have personal interest :) They had mentioned something about mafia and betrayal but nothing specific.

Actually, I had a bad feeling right away upon realizing that I had forgotten my Rammstein ring. Heh, guess I've got too dependent on this item (I've read these things can happen ;) Whenever I have to go out without it (like the beach - for the fear of damaging it), I feel insecure and vulnerable. But I'm never forgetting it in strange places...

The sleep challenge tally so far:
Day 1: 6:50am (woken up by the cat)
Day 2: 6:58am (unknown reason)
Day 3: 6:00am approx (bad dream)

OKAY. So, Black Friday was actually pretty anti-climactic, which was just fine with me. However, EVERY DAY AFTER IT HAS BEEN NOTHING SHORT OF HORRIBLE OMG. People, seriously. Just. Just go away. GO AWAY. :|

Also, I wasn't able to get a lappytoppy like I had planned, which was a downer. I was bitter, not gonna like. Still, it ended up being a good thing. I mean...I really don't have that kind of money to spend.

So I bought a PSP (whaaaaaat, I said I didn't have that kind of money to spend - the kind of money a PSP requires is much lower okay!) and one little game.

In other news, I have been quietly freaking out over Yuletide (WHAT WAS I THINKING) and wrangling tags (ugh, wait, why did I choose a fandom where everyone only has a first name?!). LIFE IS EXCITING.

Things learned:
1. One edit is never enough.
2. Reading things aloud really does catch errors, even if it takes a half hour to read one 3,000 word chapter (that's 100 words a minute).

But, it's done. I finished my first multichapter fanfic in years -- I have a few, but the closest to done any of them are is 'rough draft'. Yes, I take this as Serious Writing, for all that it's fun stuff on the Internets.

Anyway, I present a Fullmetal Alchemist Space Opera AU focusing on Winry and Sheska. Because clearly I don't care if anyone actually reads stuff I poured blood, sweat and tears into.

I’m sorry to have been gone so long. Major health issues as well as writer’s block on the rants meant that I had little to post. While I think I’ll be posting more regularly again, I can’t promise it.

1. My username is ______ because ______: amor_remanet; Well, back at the end of ninth grade, when I got my first livejournal, I'd been using Duanya as an online alias (still seen in my email address) and various forms of Sailor Moon-themed silliness as backups. Duanya came from a D&D character who got shot in the face and died; the Sailor Moon stuff was just me being an obsessive fan-nerd. Anyway, when I got to LJ, I wanted to do something ~different~ and ~new~… so I put my four years of Latin class to work and made up a Latin username. It translates to "love remains," which I thought was being Poignant And Cool… and then it just stuck and I'm too attached to change it.

2. My name is _____ because ______: "Kassie: a wild tl;dr monster" because, for ages, it was "Kassie, guardian angel of emo angsty boys" courtesy of something sherlock said on some snaps cup meme (I think it was a snaps cup meme anyway?) a while back, and as much as I loved that name, I thought a change was worthwhile. Also, I talk too much.

3. My journal is titled ____ because ____: "no, not the young people. they shall be spared." This is one of my favorite lines from the translation of Strindberg's The Ghost Sonata I read for Theatre History in my freshman year. Mostly, it's because I just really liked that line. Likewise, the subtitle is, "it could be worse! we could be stuck in the audience!" from one of my favorite lines in Muppet Treasure Island. (Statler and Waldorf are the figureheads on the bow of the ship. They're discussing how much it sucks to be stuck on said bow.)

4. My default userpic is ____ because ____: Linus and his blue blanket in A Charlie Brown Christmas, forlornly staring at the fail-tree. Because it's seasonal and I've been sort of feeling like the fail-tree lately.

My username is ______ because ______: 24601, which is a reference to Les Miserables, one of my favoritefavoritefavorite books and musicals. 24601 is Jean Valjean's prisoner number (in the musical, it's not quite as musical in the book), and it's how Javert, the cop that's always after him, sees him, as a criminal and a prisoner instead of a guy with the possibility of reform. It's all dramatic when he reveals it in the play, and he's all, "Who am I? Who am IIII? TWO-FOUR-SIX-OH-OOOOOOOOOONE." And in the version I saw at least he ripped his shirt open and was all, "CHECK MY 24601 TAT," and I was all, "OKAY YOU'RE AN AWESOME SINGER BUT YOU GOT A POT BELLY, PUT THAT SHIT AWAY."

2. My name is _____ because ______: "disgruntled goat" because he had his moments. It's from a Simpsons episode, where they got to Itchy and Scratchyland and it's a parody of Westworld, and Bart and Lisa are in the gift shop and Lisa asks about all these different stuffed animals on one of the shelves. Bart says they were from a failed Itchy and Scratchy variety hour I think? Anyways, one of them was Disgruntled Goat, and when Lisa says they weren't very good, Bart goes, "I dunno, Disgruntled Goat had his moments." And since I'm the goat girl, and the Simpsons girl, I had to use it. It was about time I changed it from "(william) control freak".

3. My journal is titled ____ because ____: "This Journal is Property of Rut Ru Enterprises, Inc./and he seduced my mom to get it". From Minghags. One of (MY LOVE) Brandon DiCamillo's characters is Rut Ru, an evil corporate man who steals Dico's other character's invention, and he seduces his mom to get it, and I'm so fucking in love with Brandon DiCamillo it went from not even funny to kind of funny again, so I used it.

4. My default userpic is ____ because ____: Seth Green and Joel McHale, when Seth pretty much climbed Joel like a redwood on The Soup. I couldn't stop watching that bit, because I love tiny tiny Seth Green and Joel's all giant and and and yeah. Hi.

In other news you guys, I finished NaNo with a completed story! I had to kill Burton at the end, poor guy, but I finished the story! First time I've managed to do that, even though I ended with less words than my previous attempts, which had... way more story to go. Like, a lot. A lot a lot.

This month, (not) looking forward to getting up at 7am every day. May not seem much of a challenge to most of the people here, but it's 2-3 hours earlier than I normally wake up, and I take fucking with my sleeping hours very bad (as opposed to fucking with the diet). Didn't get much sleep this night, being nervous and literally scared to envision how I'll manage to go through the day. (See why I'm doing this?)

Hopefully it gets better when I'll be compelled to go to sleep earlier. Sleep deprivation is not a goal, and neither is suffering. Actually, my feelings are irrelevant, but if I feel nice about it, it's even amusing (relax and enjoy the abuse, lol). And self-pity is definitely not helpful.

So, if I say or do anything extraordinary stupid during the current month, please consider the excuse that I may be too trashed to think properly ;) Just kidding. The challenge includes being able to function approx. within the normal parameters.

So lets see, nothing really going on right now except for the fact I should be working on my English paper but instead totally writing this. Oh, and doing laundry. Because laundry is amazing and all that. So what's been going on? School. School. More school. Thanksgiving. And me giving up on NaNo about 20k in because school just took top priority and therefore, couldn't really get the time to plot like I usually do. Plus, work's been kinda skitish to say the least. However, I am going to end up writing more of it, because I do love the universe that it's set in, even if I found like, 4 plot holes already in the prequel that need to be tied up, but that's okay.

Speaking of writing, I've been looking over some of my other series. Like Angel of Oblivion and fell back in love with Senna, and Kaggren, and all the dragons of both Heaven and Hell. I need to finish the rewrite of the first one and keep going with the second, because I was kinda surprised on how good the second one was turning out to be and my rewrite of AOB (Yes, I know that the actual acroynim is supposed to be AOO, but AOB just rolls off the tongue so much better!) I isn't as bad as the first draft. That everyone seemed to love on fictionpress. I still don't get it and I guess that I never will.

Thanksgiving was fun. Walked to mom's because for one, she moved closer and I wanted to see how close she is now. About an hour of walking, which isn't bad. She has a really nice place though. It's one of those duplex things where it's like having half of a house. It's a real nice set up and they're right next door to my Uncle Adam and Uncle Phil so if they need help with anything, family is like, right there. In fact, all of us were back and forth the entire day, which was pretty cool I have to admit. And it's going to make visiting a lot easier, which I'm happy for. I miss not being able to see my mommy at the drop of a hat.

Sooo...that's really about it. I really should get back to my paper. Hopefully I can churn out more of a sentance. Then I have that stupid 7 page research paper to get on. I have all the research, and the notes, all nice and in the notebook. It's just trying to get them into coherrent senetences that's going to be the "fun" part. I can't wait!
