Moving Foward
Welcome to June, my lovelies. This is a special announcement.

In a little less than two weeks, we will hit our 3-year anniversary! This is a milestone to take pride in.

Except... how many of us still take pride in our game? While I admit a large part of this is on me (and you all have my profound apologies on that), as well as real-life circumstances between all of us that we don't have much control over and have to be put first, as you all know, the game has been very quiet. Events are being all but ignored. Posts aren't getting the sells they deserve. My question to you all is, is it just dormant and waiting to be reawakened? Or is this the death knell for Metempsychosis?

This game has held my heart and soul for a long time, and it was my hope that it brought joy to you all as well, which is why saying all of this is difficult for me, but I can't deny it's all been on my mind for several weeks now. Truth is, this game can't all be me. It takes all of us to make it work. And yet, I hear a lot of things from different people that it's not a priority. That people just aren't "feeling it," or they forget about it. And that makes it hard for me to want to make it a priority.

So here is where all of you come in. I need your thoughts, your ideas, feelings, input. I need your help. Talk to me. What can we do to make this game vibrant again? What can I do on my end to put this game back in the forefronts of your minds, and what are you willing to do to make it happen? What do you want to see? What do you want removed, if anything?

Another possibility is that we change platforms. Maybe InsaneJournal just isn't the best place for us to be anymore. Many games are on Dreamwidth now, and we could certainly move there if, as a group, we feel it would be the best choice. It would take time and a lot of work to move everything over, but it can be done.

Or... is it time to say goodbye to our godlings and nextgens? I had plans for a happy ending to this event, but, I could just as easily change that ending and close it out on the Equinox. Or, if that's too sudden, I could extend the denouement and advance the endgame and close it out by September.

I'd rather not have to end the game already, and I have ideas that could go years down the line, but I need you to participate to make it happen. Two or three people does not a game make. So, I need you, all of you, to tell me what you want to do and where you want to go from here. Tell me the "what"s, but also the "why"s. Most of you know I don't usually do things without a reason for them.

And, as a final note here, silence on this matter is not golden. If I don't get feedback prior to our anniversary on the 13th, I will assume the game is abandoned, and I will close it out in three weeks on the 21st.

I personally still love the game and concept and have no desire to see the game end. On a practical note I realize things change and if people want to stop then that's what's going to happen. Comparatively it seems I have little in means of a life as I've tried to make it a point to look in on the game on a daily basis, but nothing is progressing.

One idea I considered is what if the players had a bigger hand in the plotting process? They don't have to know every detail, but it couldn't hurt for them to feel like they have a greater hand in how the plot progresses. Also, what if we restarted chat sessions. If people can't play all the time, maybe chatting could at least allow people to spitball ideas, maybe casually in rp in chat, just get the old juices flowing again.

I don't know how it is for other players, but I know I sometimes get connection issues with IJ-- I don't know if it's just me, or if anyone else has issues connecting to it as well. I think a move to Dreamwidth would be a good thing, even if we would miss Tweek's scary-how-good-they-match comments.

Also, going off the comment above, what would be the best way for everyone to get into a chat session? Would AIM be the best, or would another platform/location work better for everyone?

AIM's always worked well for me.

I think part of it for me is just the fact that I was caught up in a million things about same time as other folks, and when that happens, the game just kind of putters and the momentum goes with it. When I am in the mindset to continue on, nobody else seems to be... which isn't anyone's fault because life just works that way. We mostly can't control what goes on from day to day, or whether or not the muse is going to be knocking on the door.

I admit that I do wonder if it's because just about every character in the game is pretty much happy and has what they want, so the ideas aren't as quick to come. The muse struggles.

I would like the game to continue on, but I do wonder where the next chapter would go. Would we start on nextgens and their lives as nextgens? Would we plop everyone in a new world if we went to DW and start all over fresh and new? I don't have an easy answer for this, to be honest.

AIM works well for me if we all want to get into a chat session of some sort.

I spoke up in the chat last night so Mod Paul and Kim have my notions but I figured I should show my support and words here, too, because... Well, I love all of you and our idiotic characters. I don't want this game to disappear. I want to keep creating and playing with this group and these characters. I think I'll just lay out some points, bullet-style. :)

* Voluntary chats would be a good idea to keep us involved with each other and encourage connections and plotting.

* I have no problems with IJ and my lazy self would rather stay here if possible but I have no objections to moving if we have to.

* I find that journal-style games definitely need a certain number of active players to function or else it gets to be too much work on too few as well as falling into a lot of private sessions. I also find that journal-style games favor RP with a high percentage of social and character focus. We definitely need events and plot to move forward but I think we also have to give time and opportunity for just life-living with the characters.

* That said, I definitely support events but I think we need more time in between them so we can do them justice. Like Faith said, there's been a lot of busy people in the game lately and, while the spirit is willing, the flesh has no time to give the recent events the attention and play-out they deserve. For instance, I myself would have loved to really get into the kidnapping of the children more but, before I knew it, we were in the midst of holidays and the next event was approaching. It feels awkward tracking back to previous events to find completion, you know?

In summary, you're stuck with me if you want me. <3

*clings*

As a side, can I be somewhat amused at the fact our characters are shirtless while we discuss these things?

I also agree with having to backtrack to previous events while in the midsts of another. While we do have a tendency to start small story lines somewhat separate from what's going on, it does feel like one event isn't quite at the end when a new one begins. Events and CR are definitely important, though, and I think it may be a matter of finding balance while moving forward.

And dammit, Angie. I will always be stuck to you! I hope. lol

By normal standards I wouldn't be the new kid, but it still feels like I am because of inactivity. It's why I haven't answered this post until now. My character hasn't been added to the pages and as far as I can tell my information hasn't been added either.

I would like to continue on with the game. But I may have appeared at the tale end. Whoops!
