Two Year Anniversary!!
Well, Metem, congratulations, we've done it! Today marks our two-year anniversary! Way to go! That is a milestone to be proud of!

In honor of the festivities, we have some great stuff for you!

First off, we're announcing a slight change to the rules! Most of you probably won't even notice this, but we're actually lifting the cap on character slots. Although everyone still gets ten free slots, you now have the option to petition for additional PCs. The process is exactly the same as always: write up an app and submit it, just make sure you put "Petition for Additional Slot" in the subject header when you comment. Then, in addition to reviewing the application itself, Mod Paul will take into consideration your current activity levels and characterizations to determine if the extra slot is warranted and will approve or deny on a case-by-case basis. It's that easy!

Secondly, Event 11 is coming up on June 23rd, and we're giving you the introductory information so you can begin making your plans!

There are going to be kidnappings again, dear godlings, but this time, it's not going to be the godlings, and Gaia and Corruption aren't behind it. Instead, a nasty little group of faeries known as the Sluagh will be kidnapping the godling children (both mortal and nextgens included). The only way to save them will be by entering Faerie itself.

Of course, Faerie is a dangerous place. Too dangerous for adult mortals (children seem to be somewhat better off). So, the moment the godlings step behind the Veil and into Faerie, they will be in their fully-powered immortal forms, just like on Spring Equinox 2012. But that's not all. You see, Faerie itself is alive, and it survives off the power of its inhabitants. As you can imagine, a fresh influx of gods is going to be irresistible, and so Faerie is going to do whatever it can to tempt them to stay where they are. More information on that to be forthcoming soon. ^_^

Lastly, we've been playing together now for a long time, with some folks newer to the group than others, but we've become good friends, yes? But, really, how well do we actually know each other? Well, over the next few months, you'll get the opportunity to get to know your mods a little better than before! And, if you guys like, we may expand this to have a featured player of the month do the questionnaire as well! To start with, here're some tidbits about the gal who started all this, your fearless leader!

Look, it's pictures of me!

Name: Kimberly Erin Baker (but you guys are welcome to call me Ardruna--it's cool)
Date of Birth: Sunday, September 30th, 1984, 4:17 p.m.
Relationship Status: Single. With a kinda/sorta/almost boyfriend.
Kids/Pets: Six-year-old son named Adrian; seal-point Siamese mix cat named Freja
Hometown: Lincoln, NE
Day Job: Regional Coverage Merchandiser for the ACOSTA Wal-Mart Green Team by day, Telephone Interviewer by nights and weekends.
Dream Job: Linguist
Mod Role: Lead mod; player outreach, plot and organizational mod. I AM THE PUPPETMASTER! Or something. Actually, aside from planning plot and events and talking to current and prospective players (my job is to be here for you guys, however you need me!), I do the maintenance on the game pages and keep them current. I also do the ad design. But, yes, I also stand as the final authority on anything related to Metem.
Roleplaying Background: Technically, my first RPG in the video-game sense was King's Quest IV: The Perils of Rosella that I played as a child back when you needed 5" floppy disks to play games. Either that, or Loom; I forget which one my family got first. My first table-top experiences came in ninth grade playing Advanced Dungeons and Dragons (also known as Second Edition). I have participated in several tabletop campaigns, including those in 3rd and 3.5 Edition Dungeons and Dragons, GURPS, BESM, Vampire: The Masquerade (including a LARP version), Star Wars D20 and D20 Modern. I've also played the likes of the King's Quest series, Neverwinter Nights, Temple of Elemental Evil (in both PC and tabletop), Dungeon Siege, Dragon Age, Knights of the Old Republic 1 & 2, World of Warcraft, Rappelz, and others I'm probably forgetting. My first messageboard-style game came about in high school, and was a panfandom crossover game known as Multiverse High, which also was my first experience modding a game of this nature.

My preferred "type" of character is usually what I'd call the "charming intellectual," and most often will be 1) female and 2) non-human (usually the closest I can get to an elf in the given setting). In a tabletop/video game scenario, I favor the "dex monkey" ranged-weapon specialist classes, like rangers and rogues. I likes my skill points, what can I say? Even with this general template, though, I do always try to cultivate a unique voice and personality type for each character I play. It makes it easier to tell them apart.

Mythological Background: Truthfully, I've been surrounded by myths, folklore and fairytales for pretty much my entire life, and certainly ever since I learned how to read at the age of 4. But, my first genuine study of the mythos, rather than just individual stories, took place in the fourth grade when I did a report on cats that incorporated some research on Egyptian mythology for school. That was my gateway pantheon. Later that same school year, we learned some of the more common Greek myths. And it was a love story that never ended, as I've been sucking up folklore, fairytales, fantasy stories, occult studies and general mythic information ever since. In the seventh grade, I was involved in a multiple-subject delving into Ancient Greek culture and history, and took many, many notes on the myths in English class. In fact, when Disney's Hercules came out in June 1997, just after I completed the seventh grade, you can damn well bet I had my English notes literally in hand right there in the theatre. Academically speaking, I study Classical Languages, which is basically a carte blanche to read the old myths in the original Greek and Latin (which is awesome, let me tell ya!). So, yeah, basically I've been at this on a pretty constant basis for a good 20+ years now.

Fun Facts:
-Some of my favorite hobbies involve fiber arts: knitting, crocheting, cross-stitch and sewing. Cosplay is my most expensive hobby.

-I am a legitimate Apollo-endorsed Muse in human form

-I am the original founder of Anime NebrasKon

-I'm an Otherkin! I am approximately 93% human, with the remaining 7% mostly elf with a smattering of Cait Sidhe.

-I have a not-so-secret weakness for sparkly things. I'm a whore for glitter.

-I have formal training in 5 languages: English, French, Attic Greek, Latin and German

Open To Additional Interview Questions: Absolutely! If you have anything you'd like to ask me about anything, feel free to speak up and get an answer!

Those games were amazeballs. I still like to watch the walkthrough's on YouTube.

And yay, kidnapping! I mean. That sounds awkward.

KQ R0X0RZ!

Although those goddamn trees behind the ogre's house are still nightmare-inducing if you ask me. No, really, I love all the KQ games. I even played with the Daventry Royal Family with the old Sierra/Hoyle virtual card game program we had back in the day. ...and I happen to play Edgar in another RPG. >_>

There will be much fun to be had with the event! We will be bringing updates on the information as we get closer. ^_^

Oh god, they so are. And the ogre himself! KQ 7 might be my favorite though KQ 6 and all that random shit with the trippy worlds is also cool. KQ 3 with the fucking spellbook nearly killed me. TYPE IT PERFECT OR DIE.

OMG WHOA

WHOA. WHOA. Hold up.

There's an RPG out there where we can play KQ characters???!!

Given the options, I'd say Alexander or Graham would be most preferable. Although I'd be amused to death to get a Dr. Mort Cadaver. XD

That's okay, not everyone can be cool (or old) enough to appreciate the KQ series!

Oh, I'm definitely old enough. It's the fact that I never had the opportunity to play it. :/

Lolette is also amazing but I need to play a character who is not dark and broody, for once. WILL CONSIDER.

Did you play Phantasmagoria too, since you were into the KQ series? SCARIEST GAME EVER.

Lol so not scary! And everyone freaked over the "rape" scene, but the staging was so awful. You could tell nothing was happening. XD

I'm a huge horror fan, so it takes a LOT to spook me. >.> Like Silent Hill 2.
