Merry Smutmas, [info]themostepotente!

To: [info]themostepotente
From: [info]chazpure

Title: On a Sure Foundation
Rating: NC17
Pairings: Godric Gryffindor/Salazar Slytherin, Albus Severus Potter/Scorpius Malfoy, Harry Potter/Severus Snape
Warnings: DH canon compliance...to a point, hurt/comfort, frottage, wanking, bloodplay (of sorts), sex magic, orgasm denial, cock ring, rimming, object insertion, semi-public sex, mild bondage, spanking, and unauthorized shenanigans in the Library.
Summary: In Albus Severus Potter's Seventh Year at Hogwarts, he discovered something magical, something scary and exhilarating, something he isn't sure he can tell anyone else about-- oh, and that odd manuscript of Salazar Slytherin's was kind of neat, too...
Notes: This Merry Smutmas gift is for [info]themostepotente. I managed to work a few of your listed kinks in here, my dear, but I do believe there is at least a shred of two of plot, and I hope it pleases. Also, my apologies for Harry's rather colourful imagination. I think the poor boy watched too much telly after Hogwarts! (I'm not sure what Severus's excuse is, but he's had a hard life, so go easy on him, please.) A very, very Merry Smutmas to you!

This is a true labour of love -- from the little details from the Founder's day and age to the natural evolution in the vocabulary of the new generation. Wonderful! I love how he was saved and how they end up and, well, as [info]chiralove already said: it's perfect. :) Brava!

OMG! Brilliant. Just plain brilliant.

I loved the Gryffindor/Salazar bits...wept when that segment ended. I snickered at Al/Scorpius. Was totally beguiled by the manner in which you brought Severus and Harry together. Plot far overwhelmed the sex (which was hot) but then, I am a plot lover.

Your characterisations were real, the kids' reactions to the divorce also real. The settings were true to the times (lots of reserach, here, and muchly appreciated). But the fact that the sex was all based on love, good, solid love was wonderful.

Will be printing this one out for many re-reads.

What a beautiful story! Best postDH plot ever. You are a genius, dear. I had to stop reading for a while to rummage up some kleenex but this is the case when angst can be sweet with full of love. I'm sure this story will be one of the classics soon. (I'm not sure who you are, Misterious Author, but I have a feeling you already've already written some works for that Classic Library *wink*)

Amazing story. I fell in love with Godric and Salazar and cried when their section ended. Harry's talks with the photo, and the way you brought Snape back were great.

Here on a rec from [info]chiralove. Loved all aspects of this! It's funny how your comment consensus seems to be that we all love Godric/Salazar the best... for me it's the language shift you use, and also the way their magic seems both stronger (building Hogwarts) and more primitive (cauterizing a cursed wound) than what we know in the Hogwarts modern era. And Salazar gets big huge love in my book for being the reason Snape gets saved. =) The sadness and loneliness of the Harry/Severus parts comes through well, without you having to beat us over the head with the fact that they're SAD, and also LONELY. And the Al/Scorpius parts have a playfulness to them that fits teenagers who think that studies and love affairs are both just a big adventure waiting to be explored.

This one's going into my bookmarks, which is a real compliment since my HP bookmarks are mostly classics like Irresistable Poison, Transfigurations, and Parseltongue-tied. Brava!

Oh, eeeee, how wonderful! I admit I don't read Snape/Harry terribly often, but I was pulled in by the Salazar/Godric, and stayed for the ride of the other pairings. ;) The way all three pairings were interwoven was just beautifully done, and your plot was so intricate! I'm really impressed. I also really liked your shifts in language when narrating each pairing, from the antiquated language of the Founders, to the teen uncertainties of Albus/Scorpius. Really clever! The sex scenes were also marvellous, especially Godric/Salazar. Mmm. They melted my insides a couple of times. :)

This was wonderful. Godric and Salazar's romance was so lovely, yet so sad. I loved the AS/S, and of course, Harry finally saving Severus. Excellent work!

Absolutely fantastic story. Top marks for excellent escape from canon. The sex for everyone was hot; there was angst and happiness galore.

This is a fantastically well wrought story. The multiple layers of story interweave and echo each other splendidly.

Congratuations to the author on a job well done.

Oh. My. God. You win. You win Smutmas and the holiday exchanges and the fandom and the whole damned INTERNET.

You've managed to write across different generations and time periods, and weave it all together seamlessly. I'm completely floored. (Of course, I do have a serious weakness for the too-seldom-written Godric/Salazar, so... ::grin::)

The portrayal of Salazar and Godric's story is wonderful. The characterizations are fantastic, and the time period feels right. Here Hogwarts is not an anachronism, but a dynamic structure in its heyday. I love the feel of old magic, old rites, old traditions. And I love the subtle ways in which various events and views have become somewhat twisted and misunderstood or misrepresented over time.

I'm so impressed that you managed to write both Snape/Harry and Albus/Scorpius in a single fic in such a way that I could relate to characters of both generations. Typically I'm not terribly interested in the epilogue kids -- not because I have anything against them specifically, but because I'm most invested in the "original" cast of characters, and I don't like them being relegated merely to the role of "someone-or-other's stodgy dad" or similar. That didn't happen here, however; Harry still feels like Harry, and I'm still caught up in his story, even though part of the fic is from his son's POV.

Also, I have to say, I really enjoyed your characterization of Scorpius. He's perfect. He's adopted a lot of Draco's mannerisms, yet he's clearly not Draco. Really well done.

Seriously, can I flail about this enough? I don't think I can.

This. This was amazing, and I would leave a more detailed review except I'm too floored by how absolutely brilliant it was to manage anything more coherent. This is one of the best fics I've read in a long, long time.

WOW. I am incredibly impressed! This was beautifully written and intricately plotted, and you managed to make me care about not only one pairing but three (even though none of them interest me in general). Godric and Salazar's storyline was especially absorbing. I was fascinated by the creation of the school, all the magic and work that went into it, and you painted both characters quite vividly -- Godric's warmth and strength, and Salazar's sharp intelligence.

Albus and Scorpius were charming teenagers, and I am truly impressed that you found a way to bring back Snape 20 years after his death! :-D Thanks for a great read.

Beautiful, absolutely stunning! The three generations and two time periods were perfectly delineated and distinguished - the feel for the language of Godric and Salazar's time was right on pitch. Harry's faltering marriage and slow progression into sexy dreams was totally realistic, as were the kids (including James being mainly abroad, running through fun and girlfriends!). I love you sorting Lily and Scorpius into Ravenclaw!

The underground chambers and scenes were beautifully described, very solid and believable in many ways (the herbs gone to dust, the bare stone) and yet unearthly enough in other respects (the curtain--a Veil?) to bring all the necessary magic to the scene. More than that, a medieval enchantment that was (like all the Hogwarts Founders parts) pure Arthurian gold. I also was very much reminded of some of Andre Norton's work in the combination of concrete vividness and almost scary beauty.

I adored the conversations with Snape's picture. (I want one.) The mention of Hogwarts' Greatest Headmaster being gay. Heh! Great use of "peri-textual" or post-textual information. And Harry bringing--inviting--the photo-Snape upstairs at the end was a sweet note to end on. *wibbles* That and the whole family photo review, just as at the beginning, brought the sweeping saga back to Harry's heartfelt desire for a cozy home and family. All is well!

Ooh, what a way to bring Snape back! Great plot, intriguing and very well thought out. I particularly liked the Godric/Salazar parts (the mood of another era is a soft spot of mine and you got that so right!) but the story flowed seamlessly between the different timelines. I also liked how Albus Severus and Scorpius were not sorted in the houses their families expected. ;-) And so many other details!
