Merry Smutmas, [info]jeddy!

To: [info]jeddy
From: [info]florahart

Title: Increments of One
Rating: NC17
Pairing: Harry/Charlie; side mentions of het pairings including Ron/Hermione
Disclaimer: I don't own Harry, Charlie, or the 'verse in which they live, which are © JKR/WB et al.
Summary: After the battle, Harry's life goal is met. Now what?
Warnings: Slightly dubious consent, mention of sex toys.
Author's notes: Jeddy asked for a theme of rebuilding right after DH, and wanted dubious consent, misunderstanding, humor, frottage, non-penetrative sex, desperation and canon compliance, but not fluffiness or AU. I hope this meets those criteria. Merry Smutmas!

Oh, wonderful! I love how calm and centered Charlie is, the way he helps Harry through it all ... and Hermione as a force of nature ... and the smut, oh so hot! Lovely fic, mystery author!

Hot damn. That was spectacularly structured, and the humor spot on. I'm in love with Harry/Charlie at this moment...

That was absolutely lovely. I'm a sucker for romances like this that grow over time. When I read the title, I thought of the song "Plus one" - dunno if you've heard it before.

Yeah, anyway, I like rarepairs in general, and Charlie and Harry just seem to fit really well together. :D

And now, the process of telling my friends.

Well done mate!

I have always liked Harry/Charlie too and in this Harry took his traditional obliviousness even further than usual, I loved that it was Hermione who explained things to him. Lovely story.

Excellent story. Loved your Hermione - I think she was one of the best Hermiones I've evr read - if not the BEST. Wonderful.
The dialogue between Harry & Charlie was really good, & the sex was hot, & most unusually, it was convincingly first time sex.
Well written!

Hi, hi, my day has been absolutely manic and I'm unlikely to be able to finish the story before I go to bed, but I didn't want to leave you hanging. What I have read so far is fabulous and I'm really looking forward to finishing it.

Thank you so much for the effort you have put into this story for me. More detailed comments to follow shortly.

So, after making me sob for the first half, you then hit me with Interferring!Hermione and making me laugh myself silly. I loved the discussion between Harry and Charlie and the new anniversary (which made me tear up again.) BTW: Yes, Fred would really have approved of his funeral garb. Though it made me cry.

Lovely and hot and very enjoyable! The first part was quite moving, especially the part about Snape - and Fred's funeral made me smile and tear up at the same time. Your Hermione was great. I enjoyed her conversation with Harry a lot! I loved the humour in this story. I also really like your titles (for lack of a better word) for each section. :-)

Oh, this is so lovely! Hot and enjoyable, with a very fabulous Hermione thrown in the mix. I love the way you let Harry deal with the war, how he helped rebuild Hogwarts with Charlie.

All in all an excellent read! :)

Lovely, hot, wonderfully awkward. I cried during the first half, loved their talk, and had a goofy grin on my face at the end. Wonderful! Thank you!

That was brilliant! I just loved the build-up and tension, and the first half where everyone was still recovering, and Hermione being conniving, and the smut was hot. Marvellous. :)

Wow - this was a really amazing story. I love how slowly it developed, I love the way you've addressed the period of rebuilding and healing and grieving. And the very realistic awkwardness and humor and smut was brilliant too. :)

I really loved this. I think this is the first fic that I've read that deals with in detail the grieving process in the immediate aftermath of the battle. I loved the slow development of Harry and Charlie's relationship, Harry's naivity and the Charlie's reluctance to push and just keep hanging around and hoping. The bathroom conversation between Harry's and Hermione is absolutely perfect as is Harry's rambling confession to Charlie. And GUH the sex... so hotttt.

Charlie/Harry has long been one of my favorite pairings, and it has always saddened mt that there is so little of it to be found. I get just a bit excited whenever it gets posted anywhere. XD

This was really cute and I liked the build up of them getting to become friends and that it took Hermione brow beating Harry for them to get on with things. Very cute.

Marvelous character voices all round. The rich details of post-battle, from Tonks' hair in death to Mrs. Creevey's unusual perception, all added weight to the reality of grief and loss. The separate funerals for Lupin and Tonks seemed another element of the wizarding world viewing him as not quite one of them. I liked Harry's pondering that Remus would be happy to be with James and Sirius, with Lily of lesser importance to him. And Harry's observation about Teddy dreaming with his coloring following his baby thoughts was lovely. I think it's particularly difficult to craft Charlie's character amid a lot of canon elements, since we see so little of him in the books. Here, he felt like a perfect fit among the Weasleys (with a nice nod to timeline linking him with Tonks' generation), as well as someone who needed to be a bit apart from his large family.

The dense world of characters woven in each other's lives really touched me. I cried, I smiled, and the author definitely fulfilled the request for desperation and canon compliance, but not fluffiness or AU.

This is simply an amazing piece of writing.

I think you've redeemed canon a little bit with this. You've given the war, the events and the deaths of DH, the thoughtful treatment that it all deserves. The way you've examined the gradual process of grieving, healing, and rebuilding here is wonderful.

I was riveted by the descriptions of the funerals, the work on the castle, and the beginning of new traditions. That the growth of the relationship between Harry and Charlie parallels all of this is absolutely brilliant. The pacing and the passage of time throughout this story are perfect, and this is some of the most fantastic slow build of UST I've seen

One hell of a ride. Really.
