Merry Smutmas, [info]jeddy!

To: [info]jeddy
From: [info]florahart

Title: Increments of One
Rating: NC17
Pairing: Harry/Charlie; side mentions of het pairings including Ron/Hermione
Disclaimer: I don't own Harry, Charlie, or the 'verse in which they live, which are © JKR/WB et al.
Summary: After the battle, Harry's life goal is met. Now what?
Warnings: Slightly dubious consent, mention of sex toys.
Author's notes: Jeddy asked for a theme of rebuilding right after DH, and wanted dubious consent, misunderstanding, humor, frottage, non-penetrative sex, desperation and canon compliance, but not fluffiness or AU. I hope this meets those criteria. Merry Smutmas!

Oh, crying now. That was just lovely. The type of rebuilding that was truly necessary.

Poignant. I adored this even without the smut. It seemed like the best way to continue after the events of DH, with a Charlie/Harry spin, of course. Superb. And you even managed to get some humour in there without taking away from the previous shadow of seriousness ("Hermione made me.").

Interesting (yet Random) Fact: The story reads remarkably well while listening to The Pixies. Go figure.

Mmmm, this was such beautiful construction and some of the most perfect characterization of, like. Everyone. Even Remus and Tonks, in death. I choked up more reading your fic then reading canon, dammit. I love you for that.

And I love how Harry and Charlie was about growth and coping and just. It was the perfect sort of post-war, because it was so steady and yet forceful (like Hermione, eheheh!) and just sublime.

Also Charlie/Harry sex is like THE HOTTEST EVER, OMG THANK YOU for making it so HOT and yet having it fit wonderfully into the gen-narration of the rest of the fic!!

Oh, NICE. Poor Charlie, pining like that, but his patience was worth it. I liked the bit about him never having invited anyone else to Romania. And clueless!Harry is always so fun.

Charlie and Harry are the best Weasley pairing in my mind.

You did a great job with this story. (Hermione's blackmailing was brilliant!)

That was very lovely! I liked the *very* slow blossoming romance here (with the drunken sex, year of waiting, Hermione's Slytherinesque way of forcing them together), and both Harry and Charlie (and Neville whom I adored) were wonderfully in character.

But the part I loved more than anything else was the gen beginning - you pictured Harry's overwhelmed reaction to the Battle in such vivid, convincing scenes that although it was terribly sad, it was also beautiful.

My favourite line in the entire story was All he wanted was a sandwich, and a nap. because it says so very much about his state of mind, and almost reduced me to tears. As much as I love slash and smut, the beginning of this would make a superb genfic.

*loves*

God, fantastic. Loved the pace. Gorgeous feeling to this one, and the beginning was beautifully heartbreaking.

Also, the drunken uncertainty, the resulting awkwardness, the tangled conversation in the bathroom... great stuff.

I heart anything that is Harry / random male character, especially Bill or Charlie. It is lovely to see another addition to what is quite a small selection of fics with this pairing, and you really made Charlie something special too! Post-DH fanfiction is hard since some people tend to just spiral into this arc of depression, forgetting that these characters aren't generally going to just sit down and let that happen. But you've struck a lovely even handed approach to the pathos, but still given them a glint of the future... and yeah, wonderful read, thank you! Hermione was a devious little bugger too, and Harry so clueless I want to hug him.

The structure of this really sold me--I think the moment that won me over was Charlie's suggestion that they not tidy up Snape's corpse, but leave him as he was so that everyone would know that he earned their respect with his death.

Oh, wow. I told myself I'd check out the first bit to see what this was about, and got hooked in immediately. I love every single bloody word of it, but ESPECIALLY Harry's stumbling speech. Your reflections on the war were perfect, and you even got me choked up! The bit about Colin's funeral and his mother was heartbreaking.

And, of course, there's Harry and Charlie's relationship, and the framing device/title tie-in. So clever, and well developed and the tension was delicious. A++++ My favorite fic of the fest, that I've read.

Hermione, ILU. Sometimes, your interfering ways are downright scary, but in this case, totally warranted.

Mystery Author, ILU too. This was fun to read, with a style that was new and different and suited to taking things one at a time after the war. The Harry/Charlie was love, and so was the dialogue.

So. Far. Behind. in the fests, and I got to this one after the reveal, and, well, no real surprise--I've always adored your Charlie....

And, oh, so much to love about this. The increments of one, for a start; the gardening references were a lovely way of marking the passage of time and all that goes with it.

Retrieving Snape. *heart breaks* Thank you.

The funerals. Harry getting up and talking at the funerals. The heartbreaking conversation with Mrs. Creevey--thanking him for saving a world she couldn’t see, a world which had taken her children from her--*sob* and Snape, dressed in white.

The rebuilding. And the rebuilding, and the celebrating of the rebuilding.

Drunken did-that-really-happen? sex. Hee hee, I have a soft spot for that, so yay!

Hermione. The whole exchange in the bathroom, especially this:

"Harry, you know I love you, right?"

"When you say that it's always followed by some way in which I'm an idiot."

"Yes, well. I suppose you could remedy that."

"By?"

"Not being quite so dense."

A dozen little details, like Tonks' hair caught mid-morph at the moment of death, and 'dead things always seem unreal', and Neville hiding the knives, and Romilda is scarier than the Carrows, ahahaha!

And the sex. Sweet, funny, fumbling sex, and both our boys unsure and clueless, and ahhhh. *deep contented sigh*

Thanks for another lovely story, Flora.

Reading this, there were a few phrases that reminded me of other writing of yours, and I almost wonder if I could've guessed that you wrote this, if I'd been able to read before reveals.
[Whew! Not quite as long as Harry's rambling sentence, but...]

Wonderful story. The framing device, with the gardening, was an excellent way to mark the passage of time. Some notes during reading:
***
He had died. He had won. He had had a sandwich. (laughter!)

because now she was sure her son had chosen to follow someone who cared about his individual death, and that was better than some *sniff* My misty eyes, let me show you them. :P

Tonks, who had been so active and young and enthusiastic about rock bands and such *grin*
***
Great depiction of the aftermath, the funerals and rebuilding, the retrieval of Snape's body. The creature-knowledge siblings, with their love of plants--and Hagrid!--were great additions.

Harry and Charlie were wonderful together, and of course super-clueless!Harry was adorable, and Hermione once again saving Harry's arse with her mad knowledge. (and shower story threats!) Heee.

Absolutely lovely. *memories*

Very sweet!

I really loved the awkwardness, and the bit about leaving Snape's body all bloody and small and ruined for a while.

I also loved Hermione threatening him with "Tales of the Granger/Weasley Shower Stall".
