I am speechless, with tears in my eyes. That was beautiful. The way you made the Snape/Harry fit in with canon was so well done. I especially liked how one minute Snape was there and the next, he wasn't -- so very sad.

That was a spectacular idea for keeping with canon. Original and well played. So many emotions and, damn it, I wanted a different ending even if I know this one was the way to take this fic. And now I'm going to go sniff my way through some fluffy porn. *bookmarks to read again later*

I loved the ending! Very well done, the incorporation of canon, and an explanation for the Epilogue from Hell. Just one thing: you've got a few codings that don't work, and one or two misspellings.

The coding issues are my fault. If you can tell me where and what they are, I will fix them. Thanks.

Harry stared at him quizzically for a moment before it dawned on him. "Oh. < i>OH. Um,

At about three-eights of the story.

He wished and < i>wished for some way to know

At about seven-eights.

That was all I could find!

This is excellent - the way you've tied it into canon so well. It's also quite heart-breaking - but you lead up to the ending very well, with the reader knowing what is to come, & dreading it...!

Oh...my. Hard to type when the screen is so blurry. I knew it had to end badly, but...I also hope that Snape is waiting for him at King's Cross. Oh...my. Where the hell is the kleenex box when you need it?

*sobbing* Oh my that was so lovely. Even though we knew it was coming, it didn't make the ending any less moving or even unexpected. Although that doesn't make much sense, it's like waiting for the twist that never came. Oh, that Snape could even have Harry for such a short time and be truly happy. *sigh* Well done. *passes the tissues to the next reader*

Fine! Twist my heart all around and then throw it down and stomp on it, why don't you! Whaaaaaa!

This was simply fantastic. I was all set for my happy version of teh ending and then, wham, your ending came about, *sniffs*

A lovely sad story. I too hoped for a happy ending, knowing it couldn't be. I loved the interactions between Hermione and Harry. They had a lovely understanding of each other.

Oh! Wow, that was beautiful! Touching and ultimately heart-breaking. I loved the way you wove the fic around canon, and how Snape was a sadder, paler version of himself yet recognisably Snape, and Harry and Ron and Hermione were all in character - *glares at Ron* - thank you very much, mystery author, for a lovely fic. Sweet, hot and poignant.

I'm glad that you liked it. I was worried a bit. It's not a traditionally happy ending, but I like to think that Snape finally got his! :)

Anyhow, I hope you have a very merry smutmas.

So very sad and beautiful. The ending does make sense and all, but I'd really love to castrate Ron right now for making that stupid Unbreakable Vow (damn Harry for agreeing, too). Magnificent work (and I now need something fluffy, lol)!~Sophia

Oh, Harry, you're such an idiot! This was very sweet, and sad, that they were all four, each in their separate ways, so incapable of mastering the situation. Hermione too busy overworking to think through the details, Ron too fixated on himself and his family, Snape too depressed and never expecting happiness, and Harry a bloody fool who can't figure out what happiness is. Also too accustomed to letting others do the thinking, aargh.

This fits perfectly with canon.

Such a clever plot! Even though I knew what was to come, I still hoped for that happy ending. But to find some miraculous fix would have been too cliche. Yes, I cried. And I love stories that make me cry. I felt so bad for Harry, the weight of his obligations, losing love as soon as it was acknowledged. So sad. But really, a brilliant fic!

This is such a bittersweet fic. Snape got his happy ending and I'd like to think he's waiting for Harry... now poor Harry though, I hope Ron feels bad about this... if of course he knows how much he hurt Harry...

Wow, you've just made the epilogue both better and worse! Better, because you've explained it with the Vow; worse, because Harry loves Severus and is trapped with Ginny.

Well done!

Oh God. I cried at that. It was clear from the point where Hermione found out that Severus would be going back on fulfillment of the wish, but this was so, so sad. And so in character. Exactly what Harry, Hermione and Ron (gods, he is such a despicable character at times) would do.

*hugs*

Ow. The end of this hurt so much, especially because I knew it was coming. That Severus should have happiness only to have it ripped away again...my heart bleeds for him. I do hope that Severus can be reunited with Harry, even if it is only in the afterlife.

I love how you brought Severus back, it was so different from everything else I've seen, but believable because of the magic.

I really hate Ron right now. He's always been a selfish bastard, and this showed how much he doesn't care for what Harry needs or wants. As long as Ron gets what Ron wants nothing else matters. ARGH!!! Even so the little time Harry and Severus did get was beautiful.

Thank you! Now I'm going to go off and abuse Ron in my fic! :D

wow. That ending was a kick in the gut. (in the good way) I had to go back and reread the second last section, just to be sure I hadn't missed anything. That was a very sneaky ending, and popping it up so suddenly was a risk that I think really paid off.

Well done!

I can't even say that I didn't know what I was getting into...your stories always make me cry. :)

Feedback with tears running down my cheeks is almost impossible, but here goes.

Harry was perfectly in character, following his instincts, doing what he knew was right even if it was going to break my heart. I'm glad he took the unbreakable vow, because it meant that he knew there would be heartbreak either way, but he had to do what was right. In a way, he transfered some of Severus' sorrow to his own shoulders, which is right and just, since he never should've had to suffer the way he did.

It's nice that you fit it into canon, and didn't have to hurt Ginny, who wouldn't have been prepared. You even made the epilogue poignant and beautiful, and I didn't think ANYONE could do that!

This is an incredible masterpiece. I loved Snape's looming return, and that Harry didn't need to have it laid out for him. I loved that he acknowledged that he doesn't know how to find a middle ground. I loved that he was willing to sign the wish without knowing how it would affect him, and I loved that he didn't care.

I loved how Harry didn't need to say the words. That would've been too much to ask of him, even though they poured out of him afterward.

Most of all, I loved the end. Thanks for this wonderful piece of fic, Leila, my dear.

Very nicely done, this. Severus' term of second chance was heartbreaking, as was Ron's horrible demand for an unbreakable oath at the end. But it does explain Harry's choice of taking the happy family illusion with Ginny over being true to himself.

I do have a little trouble believing that Hermione would forgive Ron for enslaving Harry that way though. But that's just me, and it didn't really damage the nice vibe of the story. Myself, I like to imagine Harry's wooden, lifeless proposal, and Ginny, having been told about the whole vow by Hermione, refusing to marry him, and just shacking up instead, so as to kick dirt in the eye of her meddling older brother. So unless you tell me otherwise, that's what I'm gonna imagine.

Thanks for a fun ride!
