[after speaking to Sentience, Allen and Zelgadis head back to the latter's place in preparation for an all-you-can-eat dinner. that is a glorious proposal when you eat as much as Allen, and even moreso when the final guest is Saber, and Allen hasn't eaten Zel's cooking before, so it's a win all around~]

[and it's a nice respite, from everything that's been going on lately, and a chance to see some of his friends, and hopefully relax]

[a win all around, and he's looking forward to it]

["All-you-can-eat" is a ridiculous prospect with these two. But with a fair amount of grumbling Zelgadis did his best, and presents them with a table full of a meat -- steaks and sausages and poultry and the biggest roast that he could find. And some sides of course, but meat is easy to cook with a fire spell and they both seem to like it, so the potatoes and vegetables and rice are rather dwarfed. There's a beef hotpot too, still bubbling as he sets it on the table.]

[Dessert is a rather simple chocolate pudding dish since he's not much of a baker.]

Hopefully that's enough. I almost cleaned out the kitchens as it is. [he's sort of skeptical that it will be, but the table literally couldn't hold any more.]

[She's been a little "off" since their talk the other day, but there's no way she can hold back the genuine gratitude she has for the fruits of his hard work while starting to help herself. Plus, it makes it easier to pretend things are okay if she drops it]

Quantity is slightly unnecessary with your quality, but still very appreciated.

As a guest in your home, I wouldn't dream of complaining. This looks wonderful. [meat + carbs = everything Allen wants in life anyway]

Good. [No complaints is a thing he can definitely get behind. Despite his grumbling though, he's really not in a bad mood at all. Quite the opposite.] You can thank me by helping with the pile of dishes.

[sipping at his coffee, not yet eating anything. He probably will though, if there's something left in a few minutes.]

[Don't worry; if he hasn't had anything by the time she reaches the ribs, she'll stop herself. That won't be long with how she's going down the table, though...]

Are you handing away my duties to the guest? [She actually doesn't mind chores, and it seems like bad hospitality to her]

It's the least I can do. Anyway, there's going to be plenty of dishes. [a laugh, cheerful enough. he has a pile of first helpings he's satisfied with for now, and he settles back down again]

I meant both of you. [So yes, Saber, in a way he is.] I have to take some advantage of him, since he so skillfully manipulated me into serving him dinner. [He might be making vague attempts to look stern, but mostly just good-natured warmfuzzy teasing. Fair's fair, Mister "You Got a Girl Drunk."]

Hmm... [She returns to silently attacking the food in front of her-- while subtlety moving a plate of grilled chicken ever slightly closer to where Zelgadis sits-- partly to allow the boys to chat, party because it's not her place to question such decisions overly much, she has to remember that.

However after some time, as though it suddenly struck her, she offers up in between mouthfuls of bread:]
Allen should visit far more often, though.

[the most innocent grin in response to that; but he's happy enough to enjoy the company and wear down half of his own platter when given the opportunity. he looks up at Saber again good-naturedly at that comment] Oh? I'm glad to hear it, but...

[He accepts the plate of chicken with a dry smile in Saber's direction. It's just her way of trying to manage his health, even if it is a little irritating to be mothered.]

But what? It's no trouble, no matter what I just said. What's the difference between cooking enough food for twenty and enough food for fifty? [teasing slightly, although he is curious about that 'but']

There is no need to exaggerate it to such a ridiculous extreme. [An indignant expression bordering a pout is pointed squarely at Zelgadis-- h-hmph, making it sound like she's an unrestrained glutton who could make up for a full company just by herself-- before directing a far less threatening glance at Allen]

However, this one truly eats hardly at all, so I would appreciate the company of one who shares good taste.
