Day 389 - Backdated to early morning! OPEN
[Another day another dollar. Only there are no dollars in Marina, and neither does she run the flower shop because she has to. Rather, she does it because she wants to. Because she needs the distraction, and enjoys watching things grow. The day is early, much earlier than her normal hours, but she needs a little time to think and organize her thoughts. And sometimes, even compared to her shared apartment, this is the place she can do it best.

And to be honest, she doesn't expect anyone to stop by so early in the morning. Not today. But should someone, they wont find Yuuki immediately anywhere in the store. At least not to start, despite the hot chocolate still steaming upon the counter top. Or at least... what they do find isn't what they expect.

With a small leap, a brown, fluffy cat jumps up onto the counter. Padding across the desk, she peers into the steaming beverage, before her whiskers twitch and she pulls back. Apparently it's too hot...]

[OOC: Have a Yuuki cat. She's simply playing around with her ability to transmute and change her appearance. It needed to be done for butler reasons.]

[Her call in the morning had been answered. It was brief- but Ai had assured her that she was fine. Even if Yuuki knows that she can't be feeling the best. Not after yesterday. She doesn't know if it's best to give her space, or if she should go to her. There's a lot of hesitation, and she's not at all sure where to start making things better again. But in the end, she decides leaving things as is doesn't help any of them.

It starts with a butterfly. Just a single one at first that flutters across the dome. Her presence is easily found, and Yuuki takes comfort in finding her. The tiny winged creature flies down to her, circling around her head once, then twice, before descending to land upon a finger.

Come home, Ai...

Or if not home, then Yuuki can come to her, instead.]

[She hadn't been ready to go home yet. It felt as though everything hurt even though that was physically impossible for her. The emotional pain of actually being forgotten was worse than not being known. At least then Ai could understand that her mother (and Zero) were young - too young to know her.

This was different. This was something her father had experienced for years and had been forced to play the game. Ai could have said something, explained what had happened but in the end she couldn't bring herself to. So instead she'd held her tongue and tried to take care of her mother in a more roundabout manner. It was only for a day... she couldn't imagine doing it for years.

When the butterfly finds her, Ai's taken up residence on a bench in the park. Legs pulled up to her chest, arms wrapped around them and the plant her mother gave her sat next to her on top of her journal. It's where she spent most of the night and well into the day.

Her eyes watch anytime the butterfly comes into her line of sight and then as it lands on her finger. Of course she knows who it belongs it. She's seen her mother utilize them in the past. The message it carries is clear. So Ai uncurls herself and pushes to her feet before collecting her meager precious belongings.]

I'm coming. [Spoken more to the butterfly than to herself. With that, she starts off towards their apartment - making her way at a perfectly reasonable human speed without pause.

When she reaches the door to their apartment is when she hesitates. Hands clench on the pot of her plant and Ai practically holds her breath. Despite what she told Kija about being fine - it's as far from the truth as she could possibly get.]

[Yuuki is waiting. The butterfly flutters along side Ai during her trek back to their apartment, specks of light trailing in its wake. Yuuki doesn't need the tiny familiar to know when her daughter nears, however. Her presence is unmistakable. Coming to a halt after pacing the hallway, her head turns toward the door when she feels her linger on the other side of it.

Rather than wait for her to come in, Yuuki moves forward to fling the door open herself.

On the other side Ai stands, holding the potted plant Yuuki had given her, as well as a journal. She left with only these few items... it pierces her heart all over again. But she barely has time to register her belongings however, as her eyes immediately find Ai's. Concern and upset is clear, and Yuuki's eyes are swollen from more than a few shed tears.

Unlike Ai, there's no hesitation in her actions. Throwing her arms out, Yuuki squeezes her eyes shut while she drags her daughter into a tight embrace.]

I'm so sorry.

[Tighter still, but not to crush. Feeling tears burn her eyes, Yuuki swallows past the lump in her throat, unwilling to release her for a second.]

I'm so sorry, Ai. [To hurt her. To forget her. No matter what games Marina plays, how could she? She isn't a good mother. All of this is new to her, and Yuuki herself is only seventeen years old, coming to grips with the fact that her daughter from the future exists with her here now. But she never uses it as an excuse. And she tries. Heaven knows she tries, and all she wants is for the girl wrapped tightly within her arms to be happy]

I love you. [Reassuring, confident, and with no hesitation. It's plainly spoken, her voice cracking as she buries her face in against her neck.] Above anything else, I love you so much. [Her most important and precious thing.

It doesn't matter that Ai's from her future, or that everything is still so fresh for them. She's a part of Yuuki and a piece of someone she's loved so dearly all her life. She's a beautiful, strong, and confident young woman. Yuuki admires her, and finds strength seeing all of what she's become. That no matter that Yuuki's struggled so much in the past, there's this beautiful, wonderful person who has turned out so right.]

You're what I can get out of bed for every day. You're the reason that I have a future to look forward to, even when I'm terrified of the things I know are to come. You make me the happiest of all, and I don't ever, ever want to forget that.

[Never in a million years. Teeth clenching, she shakes her head against her, grip never lessening.]

I love you, and I'm sorry.
