when does it stop being coincidence
Who: Daisy and Lida
When: Early Evening
Where: Pet store
Daisy felt good. Actually, she felt better than she had in days. The thought never occurred to her that she had not actually dealt with the reality of what had happened to her. The horrifying memory had been pushed into the back of her mind with the rest, almost erased from the forefront of her mind. Not once since last night had she thought of the horrible pastor or what she had done with him and it was likely that she never would again. Of course there would be echoes of it which would display themselves in certain ways. Like how Daisy never thought about her accident with the window, but she couldn’t approach a set of stairs without hesitating; odds were fair that she would never again set foot in a church, let alone on their grounds. She was also neglecting to acknowledge the fact that it had taken killing another woman for her to finally find her spark again. That part of her went into a separate place in her brain, one meant to never be seen by the light of day. Daisy was a good person who had been forced to do what she had to, there was nothing more to it than that. But not everything had been completely resolved. She had been practically tormented day and night by Bandit and his ever watching eyes. Even now that Joseph was happy, she wasn’t entirely convinced that the familiar was back on her side again. Daisy really didn’t like it and she thought it was time he remembered that he was just a raccoon and though she was happy to spoil him, she was also equally capable of making him miserable. There had been so many possibilities, but she knew that the only real choice was to stuff Bandit into the most ridiculous and sparkly outfit she could find. This is what brought her out to the pet store tonight, when she would have gladly remained at home with Joseph. Daisy had every intention of going straight to the pet clothes, but her attention was quickly stolen by the pets on display. “Baaaabies!” She made a b-line for the kittens peering out from behind their glass cages. A high-pitched squealing sound escaped her as she batted against the glass where the kittens pressed their fur in an attempt to be scratched. “I could just take all of you home. Would you like that?” The ginger cat whom she was currently doting on gave a ‘meow’ in response. Daisy would have gladly adopted every animal in the store, but she doubted that Joseph would be happy with her if she did so, at least not until she had made sure to win him over to the idea first. She had turned to walk over to the puppy pen when she spotted the most vibrant shade of red hair and knew it could only belong to one person. “Lida!” Daisy ran up to her friend with an excited giggle, her heels clacking loudly against the floor with each step she took. “I think one of us is following the other.” It was completely a joke, despite the fact that it could have actually been fact. For her part, Daisy certainly didn’t think that Lida was capable of anything like that. |
