everybody likes sunshine, right? wrong.
Who: Nikita, Cheyenne, and Leland
When: Evening, around 8pm
Where: Cheyenne's home
"Is there anything I an get for you before I head out for the night?" Annie's voice broke Nikita out of her thoughts. She had been lost in them ever since she left Missy alone in her room yesterday morning. Nikita absentmindedly shook her head. There was nothing she could possibly need or want. Well... that wasn't entirely true. She wanted to go back in time and stop Missy from getting attacked. She needed to get this mess cleared up before word got out that Nikita had turned the hunter. The former wasn't possible, but the later was something that only Nikita could do herself. Without another word, Annie nodded and turned to leave the house. She hadn't told her assistant what was going on, she hadn't told anyone. While Annie was familiar with Missy, many of the guards that were making sure her new childe remained in the house didn't know anything about her beyond what their job entailed. And Nikita wanted to keep it that way. Being in America, away from the majority of her fellow family members, Nikita had a freedom that she had never known in Russia. The Revolutionary Roses took their family and it's purpose very seriously. Just because you were turned did not mean that life suddenly became easy for you. Hard work and dedication (and a whole lot of money) were required to rise in the ranks, not to mention, extreme obedience to the rules. She had been witness more than once to one of her family being punished, or worse -- killed. Nikita held no delusions that an ocean between Scarlet Oak and her home country would protect her from what her the Roses would do to her, and Missy, if the news spread about what she had done. Death would be guaranteed, but it was the moments leading up to her end that concerned Nikita the most. She wasn't about to let Missy be executed after what she had done to save her and she most assuredly was not about to let herself be killed for a single moment of weakness. Nikita could not be Missy's sire, but since it was a fact that she could not reverse, the only option at this point was to find someone else willing to be their cover. She reached across her desk to her giant rolodex for the number that she never thought she would actually have use for. Nikita had met Cheyenne when she had first moved to town. She had been looking for connections, resources to build up her business in Scarlet Oak, but the other vampire had been a Sol. If there was any family that Nikita personally could not stand, it was the Sol bloodline. Her fingers tapped against her desk as she listened to the ring of the phone. The bright greeting on the other end of the line did little to improve her mood. "Cheyenne, this is Nikita Vostrikova." She paused, waiting for the vampire to remember the name. "I have some business I need to discuss with you. Would tonight be suitable for a meeting?" Her tone suggested that she was unwilling to compromise a great deal. Once it was settled, Nikita offered a quick, "I'll be by later," before promptly hanging up. She could barely stand to remain on the phone with the other vampire, how did she expect to make it through a meeting? Nikita took her time to get to her car and head over to Cheyenne's house, equal parts preparing herself for what she was going to say and waiting for it to be later, knowing that the Sol would be weaker deeper into the night. It was eight o'clock, a good three hours after she called, before Nikita finally arrived on Cheyenne's doorstep. She knocked twice, briefcase of money ready in her hand, and waited to be welcomed into the other vampire's home. |
