The first thing she noticed out of place was the grass tickling her bare calves. It took her a minute to work through why it was so strange, though. Glancing around, Kali recognized the field she was standing in even though she hadn't been there in years. There was such a sense of calm here, she could almost let herself sink into it and forget.
That wasn't the way she operated, though. Kali had always been a very in the now type of person, focused on the present. Stemmed from her desire to be there for and take care of the people in her life.
If she closed her eyes, she could almost hear the water moving behind the nearby treeline. It called to her, sang a little song of I'm here, over here, like all bodies of water did.
She ignored it, though, pulled in the opposite direction by a different force. A crackling, unbridled warmth. At first all Kali could think of was Markus. Sweet, warm Markus whom she'd just been lying with in her bed. Who she had just confessed her love to, because she felt herself slipping away into the unknown. She felt an overwhelming sadness at the thought of him probably still lying in her bed, holding her body as she slowly slipped away from it.
It was hard to focus on anything besides that sadness, but the energy wasn't Markus and, much like the coursing river off in the distance, it kept calling to her. Much like the field she was standing in, it was such a familiar feel despite years away from it.
Brown eyes swept the clearing, almost frantically, trying to find the source. Not spotting the blonde, feeling almost desperate to find her long lost friend, Kali wrapped her hands around her mouth and shouted. "LIZ. LIIIIIZ."
