Much of what had happened after Markus had cauterized her stomach wound was a blur to Kali. Though she'd never quite slipped completely into unconsciousness, she had wavered in and out of it most of the early morning.
With the door cracked, the boys hushed voices carried into the room on and off. The soft buzz had helped her doze off for a few moments, here and there. Never more then that, though, before a cold chill, or odd noise, or even just being alone would wake her up again. Sleeping, at least when she wasn't cuddled against Markus, was still hard for her on a good day. Now it seemed almost impossible.
She tried though, since he had told her to rest and it had made sense. She was injured, rest was necessary. Kali was unsure how long she'd been lying there, barely awake but unable to commit to slumber, when Kaji invited himself into the room and laid next to her in the bed. She couldn't move around to cuddle up against him like she normally would, but he seemed to sense that and crawled up right against her instead.
She shivered, feeling a chill that wasn't really there. Even snuggling their dog, Kali couldn't fall into sleep without him there though. She felt miserable, worried and nauseous. More then that, she felt lonely but didn't want to drag Markus back into the room just to sit with her.
