WHO: Rae and Elliot
WHAT: A spontaneous, messy date.
WHERE: Sing Sing, out and about on the grounds.
WHEN: 04/24/19, after this.
RATING: Low, possibly medium.
STATUS: In progress
Sing Sing was a welcomed change. The place was as safe a place as you could find nowadays, and everyone seemed to be so much happier in these walls. It was nice, the concept of safety. The idea of she and Elliot being able to walk around outside in the middle of the day, or the middle of the night... whenever they chose? Was a nice thought, too. If she was bringing a baby into the world, she was glad it was here and not in one of the government safehouses.
Compared to how she'd been feeling at Grand Central and at the record store? This was night and day. Living without constant fear, without constant worry was nice. Maybe this could be the safe haven that they thought Liberty Island would be.
So, yes. It was safe to say that Rae was feeling better.
Good, not quite. She wouldn't be feeling good until things were fixed with her family. But she was definitely feeling better. She loved Elliot beyond all sense of reason, but there was something about girl time that always made her feel refreshed. Like a whole new woman. Even if she did have green paint coating her hair. She smiled as she closed the door to Rory and AJ's room behind her. "I'm glad you had fun with the little guy tonight," she said, turning and looking up at her marker-faced boyfriend and allowing the smile to turn into a wry grin. "That is such a good look for you, babe. Would it be grounds for punishment if I drew on your face in your sleep sometime? I promise they wouldn't be dirty drawings..." she added playfully.
Rae's eyes turned in the direction they needed to walk to get to their apartment (because yes, she was calling it an apartment no matter what it actually was) and then out toward the courtyard, and a mischievous smile crossed her face. She wasn't ready for her good night to be over yet, and when she was with Elliot, it could only get better, right? So, she put her hand on her hip and nodded out toward the courtyard.
"You've had a nap today. Let's go for a walk. You've been on some of the trails, right? So you can show me?"
