| A week. Regan had been back at Sing Sing for a week and things still felt surreal. Like he was here, but not entirely here. Maybe Leah was right though and he would always kind of feel off, though she had been talking about the pain of losing Soli. He thought it translated to this sort of empty feeling, like he had a hole that wouldn’t ever be filled, which was kind of a melodramatic way of looking at it. Still, a lot of strange shit had happened in just the span of a week. Some things he wanted to forget, like the kid offering him sexual favors over the intranet, yeah, that hadn’t been a high point. That moment was definitely followed by finding out what was in the box that had been left. A human freaking arm, what kind of sick fuck does something like that? |
These things were weighing on his mind when it came to considering taking over the head security position. Did the intranet need to be monitored? And should some kind of action be taken to avoid recieving body parts in the middle of the night? Regan hadn't lied to Silas about taking the job if it were offered, but he was doing just what he said he would do, he was thinking on it first. The suggestion made sense, he was calmer than Silas and Brandon combined, but did he want the responsibility? It might get your mind off of things. He thought, scrubbing a hand over his face as he sat on the roof of one of the guard towers, waiting for Brandon and Silas to show.
It felt like they had done a lot of talking since he had arrived back on the scene. More talking than they actually did on a regular basis, but they had had a lot of shit to catch up on. Tonight he hoped they could just shoot the breeze and settle back into their normal rhythm, because normal was what he needed.
The door leading up to the roof creaked and he didn’t even look back as he spoke. “Took you two long enough,” from the footfalls he had heard coming up the stairs he was just assuming his two closest friends were arriving together, either that or one of them grew an extra set of legs overnight.
