Regan shoved Brandon slightly, chuckling as he said. “And that’s just your fear of losing to me talking right there,” in reality Regan and Brandon’s friendship had never been the sort that would crumble into physical altercations. By nature Regan wasn’t the type that got into fights, he was the guy who always broke up fights. Plus, they had started out as a team and that had just seeped over into their friendship as well.
He couldn’t help the slight quirk of a smile that appeared on his face at Silas’ words. Had they been ‘those cops?’ Regan wasn’t entirely sure. He was mostly unchanged, the same guy he had been both before and after the outbreak. Snorting out a laugh, he knew he couldn’t deny Brandon’s words. “Damn right I wouldn’t let you,” he responded with an unashamed grin. “Someone had to keep your ass in line.”
Turning to look at Silas, he just made a face. “He says ‘kinda’, but let me tell you that girl was three seconds away from declaring him her ‘savior’ and offering to repay him,” he had just been thankful that the girl had chose Brandon over him. “Not sure it had anything to do with the pretty face though, might have just been she noticed the wedding band on my finger.” Regan’s tone was teasing, but he just couldn’t help getting his own good-natured dig in.
“Captain Geriatric Ward, haven’t heard that one in awhile,” Regan’s expression was unamused and his tone was sarcastic. To anyone who didn’t know him they would have assumed he was truly bothered, in reality he wasn’t. He left things at that though, after all he had teenagers to harass.
With a laugh, Regan just shook his head and pour himself another drink. “I’d say I missed the paycheck, but what the hell would I spent that money on anyway?” He did miss police work though, and probably always would. “Eh, I was the ‘good cop’, Stone’s the one you wouldn’t have wanted to mess with,” That was only partly true, Regan in his own right was intimidating, his was just a more subtle form of intimidation.
“Fact of the matter is he was probably already suffering from it, kids growing up in a zombie apocalypse after all,” he pointed out with a shrug. “Alright, I’ll be expecting to see it tomorrow.” And he knew he would, Brandon always kept his word on things, a fact that Regan had always appreciated about his friend.
