[Ebizo, Kaoru, Shinya] Cat Attack
Notes: Continuing a scene between Kaoru and Shinya as a group scene in the comments. Posting order is Kaoru, Ebizo, Shinya!

Big green eyes were winning in their staredown.

Kaoru stood in socked feet and a tee that didn't fit him, wasn't rock enough to fit him because he'd taken it from his boyfriend's closet, and was eyeing with trepidation the kitten across from him. They were crouched on opposite ends of Ebizo's bedroom, each armed with their own weapon of choice-- Kaoru had a fistful of paper towels in one hand and his cell in the other, and the kitten had a growing puddle of spittle beneath its jaws.

"Shit," Kaoru said again, for the fifth time, and he looked down at his phone again, watched Ebizo's voicemail pick up again and thumbed it to hang up. It was pointless. He was on the strage, draped in thick heavy fabrics and body paint.

He was going to come home and find his cat dead and break up with him, Kaoru thought blindly, and it was all his fault.

"Are you done?" he asked, hesitantly, and with one foot gingerly pushed Pekko back from the scene. He didn't need her to join in. Rambo looked up at him, meweld pathetically, and began to hack again, his little black body twitching with the force of it.

"Shit," Kaoru half-wailed again, despairing, and crouched down in front of the kitten and wiped up the mess as it came. His fingers twitched rapidfire over his phone, and he held it to his ear impatiently with his shoulder as he tried to, through gesturing only, convince the kitten to stop hacking.

"Pick up," he muttered, anxiously, "pick up."

I shut others out when I'm depressed. Bolded.

Sighing, Shinya closed his laptop and leaned back in his chair. Could this be depression? Were people who were depressed question their state of mind like this? Did people who were depressed do things repeatedly (clean, for instance, something that was useless when he hardly used the space he lived in)? And did they listen to only sad songs because happy ones felt weird?

He hadn't seen Kyo outside of work setting in a long time, and it didn't get any easier.

He'd noticed things in this period of being a hermit, however. His apartment was too quiet now that Miyu was older and wasn't constantly in need of attention and wanting to play. The small dog only cared about curling up somewhere and sleeping, and though that was a nice thing for someone who traveled as much as he did, it wasn't as comforting as the dog who used to drop a toy at his feet and begged him to play with her.

Just when Shinya was tempted to find something to do, his ringtone cut into the silence as his phone vibrated against his thigh. The sudden noise made him jump, and with a mutter, he reached into his pocket and pulled it out with a slight glance towards the display.

"Moshi moshi," he said softly.

Shinya. Hope and relief hinged on the sound of that familiar crackly voice.

Kaoru dropped the papertowels and hoped the cat would aim for them, so he could clutch his phone with both hands and say desperately, "Help me."

Shinya expected something band related would come from the other side of his phone. A reminder of a photoshoot, perhaps, or a question about a song he'd been working on. The words that came would perhaps be something normal had the tone that was tacked onto it not been there at all.

It made him feel panicked, and he sat up immediately, his heart already racing as his eyes widened a little. "With what? Where are you?" Did someone get into an accident? Was someone hurt? Was Kaoru stranded somewhere? Before Kaoru could answer his questions, Shinya was already gathering his things and heading for his door.

"He keeps throwing up. He's like--- he's, I don't know. Is he-- he's sick, is he dying?"

Kaoru usually managed control over his voice, even when arguing or upset; it was a steady low rumble in the best and worst of times, usually only breaking for laughter or roars. Now it cracked like a high-school boy's, as he tried to sooth a hand over the kitten's bowed black head gingerly, afraid he'd touch it with too much force and it would break. Pekko jumped on his toes from behind and he didn't even have the focus to awkwardly maneuver her off as he normally did.

Shinya's eyes widened when Kaoru said that, and he swore his heart stopped as he was in the process of sliding his feet into his shoes. Throwing up. Dying...

Alcohol poisoning?! Was it Die?!

"Kaoru, where are you? Who's throwing up?" It was difficult to stay calm as images of Die dying because of alcohol poinsoning, and he struggled to keep his knees from shaking and to keep a steady voice instead of growing hysterical.

"Rambo," Kaoru said, voice cracking in panic, and tiny hacking gagging noises filtered in through the phone, "Rambo, I don't know what's wrong with him, Shinya! I don't want him to come home and find him dead, shit, shit, help me!!!"

Shinya was going crazy with all the images in his head of their beloved guitarist in the hospital, but they all stopped when Kaoru finally told him who was throwing up.

"Rambo?" He asked, his brows raised in confusion. The name sounded familiar, but it definitely wasn't a name of someone he knew! Despite his confusion, he continued slipping on his shoes and left his apartment, the gagging in the background making him cringe. "Where are you? I can't help you if I don't know."

"I'm at Ebizo's place. In Ginza." He named the building, the apartment, as he rocked in place anxiously, poking at the kitten ineffectually. "Fuck, I don't know what to do, he'll be home in a few hours and he'll be dead."

Pathetic cough cough splutter and a gross sounding haaaacckkk and Kaoru moaned in trepidation.

Shinya nodded when Kaoru finally gave him the destination. "Okay, I'll be there in a little bit, just... Relax or something." He said, nervous of the sight he'd see when he finally got there.

True to his word, Shinya arrived at Ebizo's appartment as fast as he could have without breaking any laws, and ringing the doorbell, he shifted from one foot to another anxiously, waiting for some sort of response on the other end.

The apartment was swank. Kaoru was used to it, didn't think about it, didn't even think about how he looked in his boyfriend's white designer teeshirt, with his tattoos and nipple ring showing through. He dragged on scruffed jeans as he passed expensive sofas and televisions and antique fans, denim hanging low to show his underwear and he peeked through the door before opening it with a visible sigh of relief.

"Get in. Get in, get in," he said, exhaling as he wiped his hair back from his face and let him in. "Shit, I was worried you were him. Rambo stopped the past twenty minutes, but he keeps coughing up a bit, I'm still-- I'm worried, what-- what if something's wrong? He's in the bathroom. Come in."

Shinya could have questioned why Ebizo would be ringing his own doorbell, could have taken a moment to look around the apartment or take in the other details of Kaoru's appearance that didn't include the look of absolute panic on the guitarist's face, but he was too anxious and scared himself to think about details.

Still unsure of who Rambo was, Shinya stepped inside the apartment and quickly toed off his shoes before following Kaoru towards the bathroom, his pace quick. "Just relax," he said in an attempt to reassure Kaoru as they approached the bathroom, "if something is wrong--" words stopped as he found himself in the bathroom and saw not a person on the floor, but a small kitten. Shinya took a moment to absorb all of this, to put the pieces together as he looked down at the animal, and it wasn't until he heard a gag that he came back. "Is he actually throwing up?" Shinya asked as he crouched down as if getting on the kitten's level would help him figure things out.

Relief. If anyone could solve this, it would be Shinya.

He sat his butt on the edge of the huge tub, sinking back into the opening slowly with his hands folded on his knees. Sighing heavily, he shook his head.

"A little bit, but not a whole lot, just some spit and shit when he hacks. It seems like he can't get it up, because it hasn't stopped. I'm freaked out. I gave him some tuna this morning, did that do it? Is it my fault?"

There was a few key words in what Kaoru said that made Shinya sigh in relief. Nobody was going to die, not even the kitten. He'd been so worried about Die dying and Kaoru's anxiety that he didn't seen the obvious when it stared him in the face.

"Kaoru," he said seriously, looking up at the older man as he seemed so helpless sitting there in the tub. "It's probably a hairball." The gagging continued, making Shinya wrinkle his nose a little. Knowing what was behind it didn't make those sounds any more pleasent. "He's not going to die, but if it doesn't come up soon he might need help."

Pursing his lips, Shinya looked towards the medicine cabinet. "Do you know if he has any vaseline?"

".... oh."

Kaoru sank a bit, staring, his mouth a little 'o' of confusion and the feeling of his own stupidity sinking in, heavy. Within a few seconds, his anxious face had gone slack, and beet red.

Looking down at the ground, he mumbled a yes, trying not to choke on the word.

Shinya couldn't help but smile as Kaoru's expression fell. "It's okay, Kaoru," he said, a bit of a teasing tone in his voice as he stood up and stepped towards the medicine cabinet, wondering if it would be weird that he opened it when he didn't even know Ebizo.. "Hairballs scare everyone when they first see a cat having them."

Tapping his fingers on the sink for a moment, Shinya glanced towards the older man who still seemed ashamed of freaking out over something that seemed so normal before he reached up and carefully opened it. Thankfully, the vaseline was in plain sight and popped out at him first.

Crouching back down again, Shinya opened the pot of vaseline, and, dipping his finger into it, he reached over and smeared a bit of it across the kitten's fur.

Kaoru stared, mumbled finally, "What good'll that do?"

He had sunk progressively as the minutes went on, deeper and deeper into the tub. It was a nice tub. The top of his head was visible over the top of the tub, his feet still dangled outside of it, but Kaoru's shame was palpable.

Shinya was laughing at him. He felt like an idiot. Thank fucking god Ebizo hadn't been here.

"When he finishes gagging, it'll bug him and he'll clean his fur, and vaseline helps hairballs pass easier," he said as he replaced the lid on the vaseline and replaced it in the medicine cabinet. "He just won't puke it up, so that will be one less heart attack for you," he said with a chuckle as he washed his hands, finally taking in some of the finer details about the bathroom.

He'd love to have a bathroom like this, rather than the small one he had back in his apartment, but it was so much space for just one person...

Glancing over at Kaoru as he began drying his hands, Shinya wondered why the older man was here in Ebizo's apartment... Alone.. Wearing a shirt that obviously didn't fit him. It wasn't hard to place two and two together--what men had sleep overs when it didn't include Kyo and didn't have some sort of sexual undertone?

He could question it, but it wasn't any of his business.

"If Ebizo hasn't experienced hairballs yet, you should pass that on in case it happens again."

".... okay."

He mumbled still, voice dropping by degrees as his color grew. Kaoru finally forced himself from the tub, climbing out just in time to brush Pekko off of his toes where she was contemplating climbing up to the tub. Sighing, he nosed the cat away and looked over at Shinya with a rueful smile.

"Thanks. So he'll be okay. He's not going to like-- keel over. Promise?"

Shinya returned the smile before he nodded. "I promise. No kittens are going to die."
With a sigh, Shinya shoved his hands into the pockets of his jeans, looking Kaoru over again before frowning a little. "Next time you have a pet emergancy, can you be more straight forward? I thought someone in the band was dying."

Pekko and his toes. It was like an obsession. He nudged her away again, shoved hands deep in his pockets, and sighed, laughing faintly under his breath.

"Okay. I'm sorry, I didn't realize it would sound like--" Kaoru cut off, replayed his own voice and laughed in embarassment, downcast eyes and pushing his hair back nervously. "I guess I did sound like there was a real problem. Sorry. You were the first person I thought of. Fuck, I'm so nervous around them, I keep worrying I'll accidentally crush one of them without noticing."

Shinya watched the kitten as it continued to go after Kaoru's toes, his heart warming a little. It was the same feeling he got around any baby animal--there was just something about the awkwardness about animals that were so new to the world that warmed his heart. Maybe a kitten would help make appartment life a little easier to endure..

Kaoru's voice brought his attention back to the other man and he smiled a little. "I can't help you if you crush them. Just watch where you sit, I guess."

Shifting from one foot to another, he looked down at the kittens once again, and that maybe began to lean more towards 'I'm going to get one.' Another shift, and his eyes made their way back up to Kaoru's. "Any other questions? I have a few errands to run.." Like a trip to a pet store.

Pekko jumped on Rambo, who wheezed. Kaoru sighed, bending down to scoop the fluffier, smaller kitten up, holding her gingerly and wrong in his small hands to his chest. She wiggled and mewled, and he looked up at Shinya with a wry, stressed-looking smile.

"I don't get it. Pets. I have a hard enough time looking after you guys, you know? If I wouldn't get in trouble I'd hand 'em off to you." He laughed again, awkwardly shifted her in his hands. Pekko hissed the fluffiest, cutest hiss.

Too sparse, the night before, a few hours sleep lost to the servicing of a man with ink for skin and hair for days. Yawning at the makeup table, knees aching with exhaustion as he danced the ancient art of his bloodline and even falling asleep during his lunch hour were completely worth it to come home, 12 hours later, with the 50%/50% chance he'd get to wear himself out all over again. Paint lingered behind his ear lobes, was stuck in a white clump to an eyelash as he fiddled with keys, jammed one in the socket and turned.

All these traces of paint, they matched his loose white track shorts and zip up, his bad slung effortlessly stylish over his shoulder as his door swung in. Extra shoes at his door step and his grin was on fucking fire. "Baby?~~~ I'm hooommmeee~~!" Bold kabuki voice bounced off the walls slurry and deep. Slam of the door, so excited, so fucking thrilled, heart already planning the meal he'd make him, feed him and then fuck him in the shower for as long as his trembling knees could support them.

Keys in a crisp, clean white porcelain bowl on a pretty dark wood stand and he stepped out of his designer flip flops, dropped his bag on the all-tree flooring as he walked into his new life. Even his sister, for all her predictions of the effect reality would have on them, couldn't tear his mood down.

"Where are you?"

Shinya watched as Kaoru held the kitten, the image before him being one of endearment mixed with anxiety. Sure, cats landed on their feet, but Kaoru would likely go into cardiac arrest if the kitten squirmed a little too much and fell from his hands. The thought had him ready and prepared to step forward as the other man looked at him like that.

"They're not that hard to figure out, cats especially. They just need food, a little attention, and some interesting toys." He smiled a little, and when Kaoru shifted the kitten around in his hands, Shinya chuckled and stepped towards the pair, reaching out to carefully pick the kitten up out of Kaoru's hands.

This was definitely a bad idea. There was no turning away from this getting a kitten idea now that he was holding such a cute little thing in his hands. He was so engrossed in stroking the kitten's head with his finger that he barely heard the door opening--but the voice that called out soon after was hard to miss, especially that specific pet name that was used.

After glancing at the bathroom door, he turned towards Kaoru and raised a brow, thousands of questions in his eyes but none quite making it past his lips.

Kaoru was frozen.

He stood still in the bathroom, hands frozen recently emptied of their kitten prize; small and tattooed, they hovered between them, fingers grasping at the air helplessly. His face was blank, in that vaguely horrified way, eyes ever-so-slightly wide and cheeks uncertain whether they should be burning red or draining to chalk white. His stomach was somewhere near his knees, his heartbeat staggering slowly into full motion, and Kaoru looked up at Shinya and the vague lilt of a brow and knew in that moment how deep mortification could go.

He looked up at Shinya, lips opened and closed silently twice before he said, "um," in a very quiet voice, and then moved past him, one step two at a time, trying to calm the nerves rushing up his throat as he slid fast out of the bathroom to intercept Ebizo before he could trip over long-legge'd poodle-permed drummers and loudly introduce himself.

"Hey," he said, rushed and breathless and color in his cheeks, and he reached out a hand to touch his arm slightly, "hey, Ebizo, hey, welcome home, listen..." stumbling on his tongue, smile spreading nervous and the color was rushing to his face, "listen, my friend, the-- drummer, because Rambo was coughing so he-- I called him, and--"

Natural verbosity flew in the face of that fucking grin and the knowledge of what was behind him, with hands full of his boyfriend's cats.

"Hey-" and his fucking rockstar stumbled out into sight and, with a few strides, reach. Laughing with natural glee, Ebizo came upon him, grabbed around that waist to tug him close. "Hey babe, did you miss me?" was out at the same time as Kaoru struggled with his words so Ebizo bit his lip to listen even as he rocked them slightly left, slightly right.

"Hm? Your drummer is here?" Too surprised to be disappointed at his dick being momentarily derailed, Ebizo pecked Kaoru on the forehead and slipped past him, pulling open the door to his bathroom wide, as wide as his grin was from ear to ear. "Hi! Nice to meet you! Rambo, how you doing buddy?"

He was torn between being amused and feeling sympathy towards Kaoru as he watched the older man go through so many stages of shock and anxiety. If he were more like Toshiya, he would make some sort of joke about Kaoru's age, how his heart couldn't handle all this stress, but per usual, he remained quiet as Kaoru moved past him.

Behind him, past the bathroom door, and out into the open of the apartment, he could just barely hear Kaoru's voice. He assumed the older man was explaining to him why he was here in the first place, and Shinya wondered if it would upset Ebizo that he was here. Another pet name was heard, and any doubts he had about Kaoru and Ebizo being a pair were completely wiped away.

Looking down at the kitten in his hands, then at the one who seemed to be finished trying to hack up that hairball Shinya was unaware of the awkwardness that was soon to come.

The door opened wide, and Shinya turned to face Ebizo, stopping when he saw that grin. No amount of time with two adorable kittens could prepare him to feel comfortable with all the enthusiasm that flooded the bathroom and made him feel like suffocating, and with an awkward bow of his head, he mumbled a greeting in return before carefully setting a squirming kitten down on the floor.

Hit and run, Kaoru staggered a casualty to the bathroom door in a deserved celebrity's wake. His hand caught himself on the frame and Kaoru slumped halfheartedly, caught Shinya's eyes over Ebizo's shoulder and his lips twitched up, very nearly apologetically, before he slid in behind him. He didn't touch Ebizo's waist as his fingers hesitated just short of, just nudged Pekko off of their feet and glanced between them with an awkward flush.

"Ebizo, this is Shinya. Shinya, Ebizo. I haven't really introduced you guys."

Shinya didn't mind shaking hands, it was something that happened with every tour that involved any Western band, but if he could have it his way, he would stick to bowing. Despite how much he'd grown since Dir en Grey began, he still liked to restrict physical contact to those he was familiar with, and it was times like this that he wished the entire world only bowed.

The enthusiasm was met with an awkward barely-there smile and he returned the handshake stiffly. "It's nice to meet you, too," he responded softly, and it was almost like they had gone back in time, where he wore his hair long, his skirts short, and his lipstick red.

The attention had moved to the kitten, but only for a moment, and as Ebizo spoke to him again, Shinya felt like an animal being cornered. He felt as though he should accept, but he knew he couldn't take a while evening of awkward deer-in-headlights on his part, so he offered Ebizo another slight smile.

"Thank you for the offer, but I have a few errands to run.."

Sometimes, he adored Shinya. The awkward pain the other man went through sometimes, unless alcohol was involved to blur those social barriers, provided too many times the best and most convenient of excuses.

Kaoru's smile twitched open again, split into a laugh out loud, and his knees bumped into Ebizo's back.

"We'll get you a drink and let you leave then. Shinya saved your cat," Kaoru said down to Ebizo's shiny head, his eyes caught on the white smeared in faint missed spots. "Mostly from me, since I was on the verge of attempting to heimlich him."

Those spots always made him hungry.

He could have easily answered the questions that Ebizo asked, but his name came spilling out next and he hoped his eyes weren't as wide as he thought they were.

"Anything is fine," he muttered before nodding. He hoped that getting out of the bathroom would make things much easier and he would feel less cornered in a more open space.

Kaoru fled ahead of the crowd. With his back to Ebizo and Shinya both, he could press his face briefly into his hands, push his hair back and make a face of dismay at the refrigerator as he fled towards it.

Ebizo had his favorite beers, by now, in stock, and Kaoru took one, leant back against the wall and waited with a bitten lip. Despair and giving in warred, smiling despite how very much Ebizo's hospitality made him want to die.

Made him want to grin, made him want to kiss him. Shinya wasn't stupid. He had no secrets anymore. He might as well have a party and invite Die, too, before making out with Ebizo in front of the lot.

Kaoru sighed heavily and took a deep drink.

As Shinya followed Kaoru out of the bathroom and into the kitchen, he struggled to ignore the urge to glance over his shoulder at Ebizo. He had an odd feeling that the other would do something completely unexpected--like give him a hug or something, and there was no telling what that would do to an already socially awkward Shinya.

He was almost too tense to really take in the details of the kitchen, and though he wasn't awe stricken by the size and the decor, there was a part of his oh-so distracted mind that said 'I wish I had a kitchen like this!'

He felt out of place here, in the kitchen of someone he didn't know all that well standing like it was some sort of casual get together. But with Kaoru's constant look of worry and his own tense body language, it was anything but casual.

Beer.. Should he go for it? He took a glance at Kaoru and then back at Ebizo. While the alcohol would help ease his tension, he was still in the habit of turning down anything alcohol related, what with his current state of mood. So, he instead decided to finally answer Ebizo's question about his cat, and with a slight smile, he lifted a thin shoulder in a tense, robotic shrug.

"He has a hairball.."

Kaoru's redness was just a touch, a quiet flare on all visible skin, and he raised his glass slightly and inclined his head, more to hide than to bow but neither of them need know that.

"I haven't been around cats much before," Kaoru mumbled as an excuse, sheepish. "I was sure you'd come home and he'd be dead or something. Shit, man, it's terrifying."

He drank very long and very deep, sympathy for Shinya and himself at odds with the grin on that face. His stomach fluttered, schoolgirl, with Ebizo's charm. Fuck, he hated that.

Shinya never reached for a beer, so Ebizo closed the deal himself because he was the sort of man who made decisions like he got his women: swift and smooth. Like breathing, he grabbed the same brand Kaoru liked and held it out to Shinya by the neck, dancer woven ankle nudging the fridge's door closed as he spoke, "Oh, just a hairball? He's had tons of those. Yamadasan said she's cleaned up dozens and dozens of them!" He laughed easily, smile natural as he glanced over at Kaoru.

Shinya could have teased Kaoru about his lack of cat knowledge, but his tongue was tied and there was a beer being handed to him and he felt like he was a teenager again. No matter how many times he told himself that he didn't want a beer, he ended up holding one in his hand anyway because it was rude not to accept something someone gave to him.

Twisting off the cap felt awkward, but in a good way--like talking to an old friend that you hadn't seen in years. That thought couldn't be healthy.

"If you feed him a bit of vaseline once a week, he won't have a hard time coughing them up.."

His boyfriend and his brother, talking about hairballs over beers, and an awkward surge of tangled shame and sentimentality wreaked havoc on his insides. Kaoru caught Ebizo's eyes, held them, and when he couldn't keep the smile down moved his beer back in front of his lips.

"I think I gave him a heart attack when I called," Kaoru said, bitten lower lip. "I guess I did sound panicky."

Kaoru, that independent naysayer and sexy fucking little man, smirked behind his brown glass and if they had been alone, Kaoru would have been bent over that same supporting kitchen counter.

"Vaseoline, huh?" Grinning in fucking spades. "Thanks for the tip! I need that sort of guidance. I don't know anyone who has cats." Ebizo popped the fridge back open, grabbed an expensive electrolytes replenishing drink. He spun his cap off, laughed quietly as he sipped. "So Kaoru had you running over here thinking Rambo was dying, huh?"

Shinya looked over at Kaoru as he took a sip of his beer, he held in a few snide remarks about how the guitarist needed to work on his emergency calls. But Ebizo's comments easily brought forth the words he had intended to keep to himself, and with a slight smile, he shrugged once again, the action slightly less stiff than before.

"I thought one of our bandmates was dying, actually." He wouldn't mention who, of course.

Liquor was his saving grace. Kaoru wished he could shrink into the wall; laughed instead, sheepishly, and fingercombed his hair back into his face to hide behind.

"I was vague," he half-explained, unwillingly, and watched the white flicker on Ebizo's neck as he turned his head between them.

"What a relief that it was just a hairball," laughing generously, Ebizo raised his drink in salute to Shinya before downing another sip. Always the life of the party, he didn't hesitate to cross his arms against his chest and turn his megawatt grin on his lover's youngest. "So Shinya, how many cats do you have?"

Shinya could only raise an eyebrow at Kaoru's explanation. "Vague" wasn't nearly a strong enough word for the anxiety inducing phone call he had received about vomiting and an almost death.

He kept his comments to himself, reserving them for when he was either alone with Kaoru or surrounded by bandmates and instead focused on keeping his consumption of the beer slow and steady.

Ebizo once again turned that grin onto him and Shinya fought to keep himself from flinching away from it. He wondered just how many drinks he had to have in him before he became comfortable with the amount of enthusiasm Ebizo showed. One beer wouldn't cut it, that was for sure.

To his question, Shinya offered the other man a stiff half smile as he shifted his weight awkwardly onto the other foot. "I don't have any."

He saw the quirk of his brow and Kaoru quickly averted his eyes, but the grin was spreading. Jerking a hand up, hide behind it, and muffle a snort.

"He just has always had a bunch of animals," Kaoru explained, smile quirking up as he hid his face and mirth. "Shinya's been around 'em more than me. I don't think I ever had a pet. I had a band. Same thing."

Shinya nodded a little in response to Kaoru's statement, as if it needed some confirmation despite it being one of the more obvious things about him, one of the things he didn't mind sharing with anyone. It was too bad that talking about animals only eased a small portion of the awkwardness.

The comment about hairballs was almost enough to make Shinya laugh, though it was guarded and that half-smile was hidden behind a hand over his mouth. "If that were the case, Kaoru wouldn't have nearly had a heart attack tonight."

Snort out loud that time, and Kaoru's hand flipped out, slapped lightly over the backside of a bald head.

"We looked good," he protested, faintly, red-cheeked though now and he glanced at Shinya, apology hidden vaguely in his eyes. "He keeps looking up pictures and laughing his ass off. I told him not to."

"Doesn't it make sense for him to do it?" He asked, giving Kaoru a fairly pointed gaze, one that he hoped the other man would recognize as 'it's only natural for your boyfriend to try to be interested in what you do.' He smiled a bit then, shrugging some. It didn't bother him, they were just pictures of a bunch of young men in dresses with hair bigger than any American hair band could dream of.

"There were four other people to take over the hair spraying when our arms got tired," he said before taking another sip of his beer. So much for keeping everything to himself.

Eye contact.

Dammit.

Kaoru laughed still, but his lips twitched a bit at the corner, and red tinged the edges of his cheeks. Knowledge flickered somewhere behind Shinya's eyes, and his skidded down, tip of his tongue poking through his teeth as he avoided the thought.

"Kyo's the best at it. We probably significantly added to global warming, though."
