It had been her big release day, and it was hard to say how many CDs she had gone through already. And how many more she was likely going to put together to send off to every college she could find that looked vaguely interesting. Jacen being wait listed had gotten her thinking a fair bit even since lunch about the possibility being open to get away from here. The island was a wonderful place to grow up, but she didn't want to be there for the rest of her natural life. A pretty girl with a pretty voice that she had never really tried to see how far she could alter it and still sing. If she had done it in the last three years to hit some high notes, she wasn't aware of it. It had just been a part of her life since she was old enough to remember. Tomorrow though she was figuring on some sort of report on how well or badly she had done. Until then she had other business to take care of and one person she was fairly sure was going to love it regardless.
Somehow it was easier going to her mom about this than her dad. Maybe it was the girl thing or still the general feeling of hurt she still had over all of this. She'd had the information for almost four months now just working it all out in her head. There had been a number of times and several ways she had considered pointing out to her parents that she knew. Wrapping it up as a Christmas gift seemed like a pretty good way to just shock the hell out of everyone. Then she wasn't sure she wanted to hurt Alfie like that. Lexie... Well she'd been pissed off at hier sister enough times to want to just wave hers in front of her face and just see how she liked having that information. On the other hand, it was also a little fun to make comments that were backhanded comments... Like telling Jacen she'd take her biological sister over his. Did she even have a sister? Or brother? The holidays had probably been a good time for all of the thinking though so she'd gotten through her anger and was more at the point of her usual curiosity and hurt that they hadn't told her. Her parents loved her and had taken care of her for the last 17 years even if they were potential baby-nappers.
When the last bell had rung for the day though, she was immediately outside her mom's classroom waiting for the rest of the students to go on to catch their rides home. There was no point in doing this where Alfie could walk in any minute as long as he was hopefully busy with some practice or have Lexie bouncing in at the wrong moment. She held the CD in her hands though with the adoption papers tucked in her book bag for safekeeping. She was hoping she wouldn't need them and potentially have to out that she had physical proof. Once the last student was out though she just slipped in, putting on a smile.
