WHO: Sahir Bansal & Nadia (NPC Crippled Tower employee) & Todd (NPC Crippled Tower regular)
WHEN: Near closing time, evening of 6/8.
WHERE: The Crippled Tower.
SUMMARY: That time video game merchandise was more important than Sahir's livelihood.
WARNINGS: Uh, one way ticket?
“Dude, that’s a crazy poster.” It was late night, near closing, just Sahir and one other Crippled Tower employee to lock up. Well, them and their local underground-fancying-himself-MLG-status buddy who always showed up the last hour before closing every Wednesday like clockwork, Todd. Sahir was reading Game Informer, Nadia was checking out the shelves for some of the sales, seeing what she could buy after her shift. “What?” Sahir glanced up to meet Todd’s gaze, he looked a little out of it, hooded, probably higher than a kite. But that didn’t make what he was pointing to any less real. “...Uh, that’s not a poster man.” Sahir let himself out from behind the counter, that got Nadia’s attention. She turned from the shelf, letting out a little gasp. Just some weird portal sitting in the middle of the shop. Some of the shelves were technically standing in it. Sahir crept closer. “Looks rad in there, that’s all I know.” Sahir frowned but couldn’t protest. There was some Mordor-esque looking mountain in the distance and the unmistakable roar of some sort of fantasy creature could be heard. Curiosity was getting the best of him, dragging him even closer. “Looks like Magic the Gathering in there…” Sahir joked, Todd snorted. “Sahir! Don’t go near it…” Nadia trailed off as he stuck his arm in and pulled it back out holding one of the games from the shelves sitting inside the portal. “Holy fuck dude!” Todd’s eyes got really wide. “...I’m gonna try and get the rest of the merchandise out of there…” “Ummmm,” Nadia mumbled, taking a place beside Todd and eyeing her boss like he was half an idiot. He brow furrowed in worry, Sahir stepped in fully, body disappearing. They could see him just behind a glossy filter, it look almost like the reflection of something in a mirror almost. An arm came out, Sahir’s, holding more games. Todd and Nadia looked at each other, hesitant, but finally she sighed heavily and walked over, taking them from his hand. The process continued for several moments, Sahir passing games from the shelf back through the portal and then, without warning or sound, it simply shut. Nadia stared at the now empty space in the store where Sahir and the shelves should’ve been. “...Sahir?” She breathed in deeply. “SAHIR?” She glanced back toward Todd who shrugged widely, just as confused. “OH MY GOD HE’S GONE.” Nadia clutched at either side of her head, panicked. “What do I do what do I do what do I do?!” Todd was still staring, dumbfounded. “Samar,” Nadia sounded like she’d just grasped out at the name like a rope as she fell into the dark. “Samar will know what to do…” |
