Post-event details.
Q:How badly are the city districts damaged? A: Obviously the most damage was concentrated around the tower, but the monsters did appear in all districts. Damage incurred depends on a number of factors, such as how well a building may have been fortified, how close it was to the Mages Tower, and so on. Therefore, while we expect a significantly visible amount of damage due to the amount of monsters, those monsters power levels, sizes, and abilities which were around during this event, we encourage players to collaborate reasonably on how they expect their individual homes and shops to have fared during the event. Q: How are city resources at this time? A: Emergency clinics have been set up throughout the city, and mages attached to the church have also added in healing efforts, especially in the poorer districts. If any white mages and healers would like to contribute to any of these efforts, they are completely welcome to do so IC. As trade has been interrupted, and many shops damaged, there will be a short period where supplies will not be as easily procurable. Those with more money and privilege would obviously not expect as many issues as those without, but due to the combined efforts of those in power, we don’t expect any severe limitations beyond April. We encourage players to go about depicting individual circumstances as they see fit within these general parameters. Q: What about the Mages Tower? How badly is it damaged and when can mages move back in? A: After Vivian is defeated, a period of five days is spent going through the tower, picking up the dead and wounded, and clearing away and accounting for all significant damage the Sage left behind. During this period, mages are welcome to come and go, to aid in any of these efforts until the worst of the damage is cleared away. We expect the various amounts of repairs inside the tower to be ongoing and PCs can participate and organize this as they see fit as well. As for the damage left by Hashmal outside the tower, a large segment of the street will be partitioned off for repairs, redirecting most vehicle and pedestrian traffic. Because of the damage to the street and earth itself, geomancers are welcome to aid in the efforts there as well. Q: What about the Mages Guild Leadership? A: Obviously, the role of Sage is now vacant. The council will need to decide amongst themselves how to appropriate their roles adequately for the sake of the guild, but if a new Sage is chosen to be reinstated, then this would require a full IC vote by all mages. If this is a plot players would like to pursue, please contact us for more information, and we would be happy to assist. Q: Wait, wait. Can the role of Sage be taken up by a PC during this time? A: Yup. However, this does not mean that the character will automatically learn all knowledge that the previous Sage had. The PC’d character would have only what they currently know, and what they learn through game play. Does this mean the guild will be weakened as the new PC’d leader won’t be as powerful as the previous NPC leader? There’s a good chance of that, yes, but that can be half the fun, right? Q: If we - as players - decide we don’t want a PC to take the role, can we vote to have the mods take up a new NPC for this? A: If that’s what the player base would like, we can certainly oblige. However, we did this intentionally, as we thought it would be an interesting point of character growth, and player/character interaction to have this be an item that could be done through game play. Q: What about the Librarian, is she still alive? A: Yes! And she will be becoming a Mod controlled NPC as there had been interest voiced in seeing her as one some time again via a poll we made. Again, if any players intend to pursue any kind of investigation into what went down during the event, as always we encourage them to touch base with us regarding where and how they intend to search for information and what will be received. Q: Will the Librarian be made available for IC interactions? A: Yes! However, at this time, she is still holed up recovering from the wounds Vivian inflicted upon her in a closed ward. Q: What are the relief efforts? Is the King involved? What about Parliament, the Cardinal? A: The King ordered his Kingsguard to sweep across the city and make certain that no monsters were left in the city, an effort aided greatly by the guilds in defeating Vivian Xi and the unknown creature she had summoned. Parliament went about the day after drafting up relief and reconstruction efforts, sending emissaries to collect information in all districts as to the extent of the damage. Along with the Tower, the efforts to rebuild the damaged areas will be an ongoing effort, but PCs can expect to see visible government efforts to clear up the damage and debris. As for His Holiness, the Cardinal, he had kept himself in safety at the Cathedral District, and has now sent for a request from the Holy City to aid in some monetary relief to Emillion as well. During services through the week, those who are part of the Pharist community will be encouraged to volunteer their time in helping the city in whatever ways are appropriate. Q: Was the Duchess of Limberry, Captain Ryuzaki, and her forces seen? A: Captain Ryuzaki, along with several knights wearing the house emblem of Limberry were seen along with the Kingsguard in helping to clear away any lingering threats. The Duchess of Limberry herself will be visible around the general area of the Palace, and also around the Civic District. Rumours among those who know Parliament members, or work in government, indicate that she is also contributing capital toward current relief and reconstruction efforts as well. Q: Will the Mages Guild encounter push back from the community/citizens as Vivian was the culprit for this massive damaging event? A: Yes, there is going to be a reasonable amount of push back on the Mages Guild. For now, the Parliament will be instating a number of agents to monitor the Tower, should another emergency occur. Essentially there will be a loose number of people around to keep an eye on things. Q: What sort of push back should my Mages Guild character expect to encounter? A: this heavily depends on how much the player wants their character to encounter. It could be as little as whispers on have streets, to as extreme as potentially being faced with bodily harm if the player chooses to engage in that manner with their character at this time. Q: Will there be push back on summoners as well? A: Yes, this would be reasonably expected due to the eyewitness accounts and rumors building up about the Sage and the monster she summoned. Q: Will the mods be directing precisely what a character may or may not go through for push back for summoners? A: We're happy to leave this up to players for the most part. Will there be lynch mob in the streets? No, probably not. Will the characters encounter discrimination, be whispered about, and possibly refused service in certain shops or parts of the city? If you'd like to, sure! Q: Will we be able to find out more information about the Shard the Vivian was looking for? A: Also yes! This is a plot relevant item however, so email in, look for NPC interactions, and participation in forward moving plot will have more details for all of that to come. Q: Will the Mages Guild - as a whole - be expected to pay reparations for the damage that Vivian has caused? A: While this has not been directly stated, and no one has made push for it, there are rumors floating around about how since it was their guild to cause the damage, they should be the owners to pay for the fit its repairs. However, nothing officially relating to this has occurred at this time. Q: How is morale in the city? A: Poor. Many citizens lost everything they had worked their entire lives to gain. While the world of Ivalice is a dangerous place as a whole with huge, vicious monsters and need for things like palings, and Fighters Guilds, this particular act has struck particularly hard, and close to home for many amongst Emillion's populace. There is much talk in the streets about leaving, going to better places, safer places, and some have even stocked up carts and begun to move their families out if they could afford to, or had family who live in other parts of Ivalice. Q: How are the other guilds treating this and/or responding to it? A: As with all large groups of people, the results can expect to be mixed from individual member to member. However, at this time, it would seem that the PC’d members of the guild leadership groups are strongly in support of helping the Mage’s guild to get back on their feet as can be seen here (I’m a link!) and here (I’m a link!). Now, does everyone in the guild need to feel the same as the leadership? In no way what-so-ever! Please feel free to have your characters be as helpful, or as opposed as you see fit. That’s part of the fun, right? Any other questions regarding the state of the city as to be directed to the mods should go under the appropriate headed below. All other questions between players, as well as general discussion between players on this topic is encouraged below! |
