About: | "Things need not have happened to be true. Tales and dreams are the shadow-truths that will endure when mere facts are dust and ashes and forgot." Sometimes you can fall in love with a story, or with its characters. Sometimes you feel like they're incredibly real to you, almost as if they've come to live with you in a way. Sometimes you can look at a story and think "that's me, it's like they're writing about me!". Sometimes you can read about a fictional world and feel almost as if it's your home. Sometimes a book, a movie, a game, can change (and improve) your life. So that's what this community is for. Talk about it here. (And although there's a focus on stories and fiction, it doesn't have to be strictly limited to that - if you're in love with a poem or a historical era or a concept, come in and share that too.) Rules: 1. Please friendslock all your posts. 2. Don't edit your posts after you post them- editing for typos is fine, but removing or adding entire chunks of writing isn't, unless you make clear what you have added by using a [edit]/[edited to add] tag. Similarly, please don't delete your posts. 3. No snark. It really doesn't matter if you think it's all in good fun, that is not what this community is for. This rule will be enforced, and if you break it after being warned, you will be removed from the community. Please don't pick on the other members or cause arguments- debate is fine, obviously, but don't cross the line into personal insult. That's what personal journals are for, if you feel the need. 4. This is a community for the discussion of thoughts and reactions and mental connections to fiction. Anyone is welcome to join, of course; however, if you've arrived via one of the fiction-kin/soulbonder communities, please try to keep off-topic soulbonding and plurality discussion to a minimum. There are numerous other communities for that, including soulbonding, multiplicity and our sister community oldschoolsbs. As a short and by no means comprehensive example of what is and isn't off topic: "My headmate is Ash from Pokemon and lately he's been really depressed, what should I do??": off topic "I feel a strong connection to the world of Pokemon as shown in the animated series": on topic 5. When you join, post an introduction - long or brief, it doesn't matter, so long as you give us some information about yourself. This is mandatory, and if you don't post an introduction within a week of joining, you will be removed. This rule is in place because we all want to be open with each other here about subjects that we may have struggled speaking about semi-publicly before, and knowing exactly who is reading what you write makes this a lot easier. | ||||||||||
