Jonas had slept surprisingly well, arms wrapped around Daryn for as much of the night as he could remember. When he woke he'd reached for her, only to find nothing, which was almost infuriating. He might have been really pissed off if he hadn't found the note, saying she'd left for work. She'd been right the night before in saying he had work as well, but it wasn't anything he needed to rush for and it was still a couple of hours before his shift started. He read the note twice before making a decision.

The hospital was always busy it seemed, people bustling about, taking care of other people he supposed, but there was always a steady stream of traffic. He wandered through it, looking for her.

Peter stood outside the giant building, staring up at it. His hands were tucked in his pockets, not jeans like most of the residents, but real dress pants with a matching button down and vest. He'd forgone the usual tie, but he definitely looked better dressed than anyone else around. The building was what had his attention though. It was huge. And it seemed like such an eyesore on an otherwise lovely landscape. And everything happened in there. For all his being put on the island and told of what the Facility had to offer, he didn't want to go in it. Not yet. No, for now he was fine with standing outside it, peering up at it in the afternoon sun.

Summary: Destruction Island's 4th Annual Anniversary Gala Event

Ending the week long celebration of the opening of Destruction Island was the Anniversary Gala. A formal, black tie affair, the Facility Ballroom had been built years ago specifically for this event. Transformed into an elegant banquet room, complete with dinner, drinks and dancing. Swathed in red velvet, sparkling crystals and fine black and white china, the event was by far the most luxurious thing to take place on the island each year. As with all events, all residents and government members were not only invited, but heavily encouraged to attend. Tailored formal wear was provided by the government for everyone and anyone who wished to attend and tickets to the event were provided for free. For this evening only, musicians, wait staff, caterers and others were brought in from off the island so that no residents would be required to work during this time, freeing everyone to enjoy the evening completely.

Summary: Resident Appreciation Celebration

One in a series of many scheduled events, the Resident Appreciation Celebration was likely the most highly contested by those forced to live on Destruction Island. The name was likely a misnomer, considering most residents felt neither appreciated nor celebrated. Still, the event continued despite the ruse. It consisted of food vendors, alcohol, musicians and bonfires on the beach. Attendance was further encouraged by giving all non-essential employees the day off so that they may particpate. Others were offered considerable monetary rewards for offering their services to promote and/or work at the event.

The beginning of the month signaled 'new releases' at the island's only movie theater. The younger crowd and families tended to flock to view whatever films had made their way to the island, however minimal the choices. There were only two screens, the third screen had been down for repairs for over a year now. The available movies were usually something that had been released nationwide weeks if not months ago, and deemed by the powers-that-be to be acceptable for mutant audiences. Needless to say, few sci-fi or action movies made it to Destruction. This night's newest offerings were Side Effects and Monster's University. The lines moved relatively quickly for admission, although there was the typical hold up at the concession stand. There was a relatively large crowd gathering and everyone seemed to be in good spirits.
