I have an unconventional vampire line I want to fill. There would be surrogacy of unnatural means and body horror with potential for psychological manipulation and ideally some form of Stockholm Syndrome. Other similar themed lines are in my journal.
The problem with vampire lore is that it ignores just how essential humans are to vampire survival. A world with no humans to feed from means no vampires. This is something that Alaine is about to learn first hand. A human with a family all deceased, she was grabbed off the streets and taken to a compound. It turned out the local cult that lived far off in the woods wasn't really a cult in the traditional sense. The cult is made entirely of real vampires who are utilizing humans for their feeding needs.
Hadley/Jude is a vampire who is given Alaine to take care of by the group's leader. Alaine is to be used for basic feeding and surrogacy, to help keep the numbers of humans inside the compound up for a second generation. Alaine's surrogacies will all be done through advanced medical research the vampires have conducted, none of them her genetic offspring.
The group's leader is trying to build an eventual sustaining food source the vampires don't have to hunt, but can enjoy behind light blocking shades. The vampires would then be able to turn their attention to something besides just hunting and staying hidden. But the leader of the vampires likely didn't plan on any bonding going on between the vampire and human, due in no small part to Alaine's growing curiosity about her vampire host, or what might happen if Hadley/Jude got emotionally attached to their human charge.
