Good morning! Happy Thanksgiving! Canadian Thanksgiving. Today breakfast and lunch at the diner will be very simple. Because there will be a special dinner. Mocktails (no alcohol), appetizers, soups and salads will be served starting at four. Dinner will start at 6, and it's going to be buffet style to hopefully allow me to join you. It will include maple glazed turkey, cranberry sauce and gravy, potato puree with crème fresh and chives, roasted sweet potato with toasted walnuts and brown sugar, brioche stuffing with mushrooms and fresh sage, green beans in brown butter with toasted almonds, butternut squash tortellini, creamed spinach, roasted root vegetables in a malt vinegar gastrique, and more. Don't worry if you come later than six, there'll be plenty of food. Dessert will be a selection of pies.
Come by any time to help out today. I'm looking forward to seeing you.
I've arranged to donate any leftover pie to a homeless shelter in Detroit tomorrow. Not much point in keeping them at the diner with a bakery on the island. An employee from the shelter is going to meet us in front of the apartment building on the other side of the door. I'm hoping you won't mind helping me carry the pies there to start off our Tuesday together.
