Castiel's words worried Aziraphale. He knew how the notion of Falling could weigh heavily on heavenly beings, and Castiel had always been so serious. The other angel didn't have the benefit he himself had of millennia on Earth to adapt and grow beyond what Heaven dictated. For all his rebellion, Castiel was still largely unaware of the world outside Above's sphere of influence. He was sure that Castiel was having difficulty adapting to this place, where He could not be felt and there was no Above to rely on. Castiel should have been able to rely on him, but apparently he had felt he couldn't. In that moment, Aziraphale did feel some measure of anger at Adam, for helping to make Castiel feel isolated, and more anger at himself for not seeking out his friend sooner.
Showing up at the other angel's door, he knocked and waited. If he had been Crowley, he would have just walked in, but the fact was he wasn't Crowley and that would have been incredibly rude. So, he waited.
