Title: Intent (Pretty Close to Invincible series 6/10)
Rating: PG-13
Pairing: Roddick/Federer
Summary: Andy watches Roger play and reflects on his style.
Notes: Part 6 of the Pretty Close to Invincible series, taking place after Closer Than This. Set during the Federer vs. Santoro match on Thursday at the 2004 ATP Masters Series in Toronto.
Disclaimer: Not mine, for which they are probably eternally grateful. Never happened. Own themselves. Don’t sue. Does that cover everything?

“You know, the thing with Roger is that he just makes it look so easy.”Andy Roddick, post-Wimbledon final

Title: Closer Than This (Pretty Close to Invincible series 6/10)
Rating: PG
Pairing: Roddick/Federer
Summary: After his match against Benneteau Wednesday night of Toronto, Andy meets Roger on the stairs.
Notes: Set the evening of Wednesday 28th July in Toronto. Inspired by a post-match interview in which the interviewer asked Andy, “what have you done since the match ended because you obviously haven't had a shower yet?” and Andy replied tersely, “I walked in. I put my bag down and I came up here. “

I think he left something out.

Part six of the Pretty Close to Invincible series, following on from Out of Mind.

Title: Out of Mind (Pretty Close to Invincible series 5/10)
Rating: PG-13
Pairing: Andy Roddick/Roger Federer
Summary: Roger’s made a decision. Getting Andy to agree may be a little more difficult.
Disclaimer: Not mine, never were, never will be, never happened, own themselves.
Notes: Set in Toronto on the second night of the 2004 ATP Masters Series at the Rexall Centre (I'm hazy on dates...). Part five of the Pretty Close to Invincible series, taking place between (4) Softer Than Feathers and (6) Closer Than This.

The Fox and Fiddle is a real place in Toronto and *is* located on John St. but having never visited it I took liberties with certain – all - features. Like suggesting they have waiters who would spit in a customer's drink. Uh. Sorry guys.

Title: Softer Than Feathers (Pretty Close to Invincible series 4/10)
Rating: NC-17
Pairing: Roddick/Federer (implied)
Summary: Exhausted from Wimbledon and Gstaad, Roger needs a little while alone to let it all sink in and to reflect on what happened with Andy.
Disclaimer: Not mine, for which they are probably eternally thankful. Didn't happen, blame the crazy plotbunnies that won't leave me alone. Ever.
Notes: Also written last summer. Set after Wimbledon and Gstaad, which were right after each other and both of which Roger won. I had no idea where he'd be and improvised. Some minor editing, but as usual not nearly enough. Sequel to Just to Make You Smile and to be followed soon by part five, Out of Mind.

Title: Just to Make You Smile (Pretty Close to Invincible series 3/10)
Rating: PG
Pairing: Roddick/Federer (implied)
Summary: Andy’s feeling a little depressed after Wimbledon and being unable to play for a few days. A delivery from Roger cheers him up.
Disclaimer: Not mine, for which they are probably eternally thankful. Didn't happen, blame the crazy plotbunnies that won't leave me alone. Ever.
Notes: Set after Wimbledon, when Andy developed a minor thigh injury. Some minor editing, but as usual not nearly enough. Sequel to Match Over and followed by Softer Than Feathers.

Title: Match Over
Rating: NC-17
Pairing: Federer/Roddick
Summary: After the Wimbledon final Andy catches Roger in-between all the press and publicity.
Notes: Part two of the Pretty Close to Invincible series, sequel to Play Suspended. I also exaggerated the Wimbledon aftermath slightly - I seriously doubt they'd be so cruel to poor Roger.
Disclaimer: Not mine. Not so much as one broken racquet string of it.

“So I can't worry about so much what he's doing when he's not across the net from me.” – Andy Roddick on Roger Federer

Title: Play Suspended (The Pretty Close to Invincible series 1/9)
Rating: NC-17
Pairing: Roddick/Federer
Summary: Frustration and tension are wearing down on the two top seeds during the 2004 Wimbledon final. (Set during the first rain break in the first set.)
Notes: This fic - well not exactly this fic, I rewrote the entire thing because it showed just how bad my tennis knowledge was at the time - was the very first tennis slash fic I wrote, begun halfway through the 2004 Wimbledon final it's centered around. I remember having to check the scoreboard to see how you spelt 'Federer' and if 'Roddick' had two d's or one.
Disclaimer: Own nothing, no one and this never happened - as far as I know both Andy and Roger were innocently occupied with other things during that first rain break. This is just me having fun with what could have happened.

“You know, I proved that Roger's not quite invincible. You know, he's pretty close (smiling).” Andy Roddick, post-Wimbledon 2004 final.

Title: Bounty
Rating: PG-13
Pairing: Roddick/Federer
Summary: Andy’s got a $500 bounty on his head and everyone is stalking him. Roger just seems to find the whole thing amusing.
Disclaimer: Not mine, never will be, never met them and they probably wouldn't want me to. All real people mentioned during this fic own themselves and I make no claims any of this actually happened. Other than the Australian's $500 bet which was apparently genuine.
Notes: Set around the 2004 Olympics in Athens; specifically Thursday August 19th, the day after Andy lost his match to Fernando Gonzalez of Chile. Roger lost the Tuesday in both the doubles and singles.

And yes, from what I’ve read Athens’ National Gardens is indeed overrun with ducks. :)

Title: Risk
Rating: PG
Pairing: Mild hints of Federer/Roddick
Summary: Mini-prequel to Bounty. Mardy gets asked for help from an unexpected person.
Notes: Set around the 2004 Olympics in Athens. This is the morning of Wednesday 18th, the day Andy lost to Gonzalez.
Disclaimer: Not mine, own themselves, don't sue, not worth it, it's all for fun and never happened.
