Day: day 4
Time of Day: morning
Location: first good side of town - then the northern woods
Rating: tbd
Status: incomplete

John Sheppard was on his way to the northern gate of town. He had decided to head out and do some more exploring while Jennifer checked out the infirmary. Since Jennifer arrived John didn't mind being here that much anymore, but he still wanted to find a way back home. He had checked their side of town several times already and a lot of the surrounding area as well. But he hadn't been everywhere on the island, if it was an island at all. He had a map of the place from the lobby, but that didn't mean that he believed what he saw on it. Whoever brought them here made that map and surely wouldn't mark a spot on it that said 'way to leave' or something like that. Maybe there was a Stargate hidden somewhere. He was planning to find it or any other way to get home.

John was dressed in the usual black clothes he wore on missions, had his p-90 at hand and a gun in the back of his trousers. Ammunition, a knife and some c4 was in his backpack, together with something to eat, some water and a first aid kit. Exploring this place could take a while after all.

While continuing to walk down the street between the living quarters and the mall John wished his team was there. None of them would be allowed to walk around alone in unfamiliar territory with hostile people nearby if he was back home. But neither Ronon, nor Teyla or Rodney were here. And John wasn't about to take Jennifer out there. Maybe he should have asked Dean, Faith or Lee to join him. But he hadn't seen them at breakfast and didn't want to waste any more time.

Lee woke up early. He wondered for a moment where he was. Then he remembered, this wasn't the Galactica and it wasn't Earth. It was his third morning waking up here, he should know where he was by now.

Kara. After she'd stormed out on him the other night he'd barely seen her. As much as he loved her sometimes it was better that way, to stay away. To let them both cool down.

He'd spent the day letting his ankle rest by carefully working out during the self defense class and then perusing the maps and charts of the island and the surrounding area in the library. Now he was ready to compare what he'd found with what Kara had picked up during her wanderings, that is if she was still talking to him.

He got himself dressed and went and knocked on her door. When she answered he asked "Still mad at me or would you like to go get some breakfast? Then we can compare notes on what we both found out yesterday. We need to figure out if the maps of this place are accurate. If they are then maybe we can use them to help us find our way out of here."

By the time Kara had gotten to her room after exploring the island, she had been exhausted. She hadn't even bothered turning on the lights to the place; she just flopped down on the bed and fell asleep.

She woke up ready to hear Hot Dog bitching about Racetrack's snoring, or the sounds of locker doors opening and slamming shut. Nothing. Not a sound. She quickly sat up without opening her eyes, bending over slightly so she didn't hit her head on the top of her rack. And then she opened her eyes and remembered.

She wasn't on Galactica.

The island, the war. She would lead her people to a devastated Earth, she would come back thinking only hours had passed instead of months, she would be accused of being a Cylon....

Her bitter mood only seemed to grow as she looked around at the room. All the comforts of home and then some. A bureau next to the bed was full of tanks and sweats and all of the clothes she wore aboard Galactica, guns and ammo stacked up at the bottom of it. A punching bag had been set up in the corner, gloves lying beneath it. There was even a paint set and a drawing pad put away on a shelf. But instead of feeling comforted, she just felt sufficiently creeped out. How did...whoever set this up know so much about her?

Again, she thought of the Cylons and all of their mind games. ...What was worse, being trapped again by Leoben or finding out that this really was some war between good and evil? Leoben she could escape; she had done it before. But this war seemed...inescapable. ...So which option was she really hoping for?

As she continued to think about the frakked up situation she was in, she decided to take a quick shower. Not moments after she turned the nozzle to off, she heard a knock on the door and Lee's voice. She wrapped a towel around her muscular frame and opened the door, "Hello to you, too, Apollo." They both knew she wasn't going to explain or apologize about their conversation the night before; or, at least, she knew that. "Do you mind if I get dressed before we have a meeting?"

He had to smile at her, he actually wanted to laugh but he didn't have a death wish. "Well like I said, we should get breakfast first." Then he decided to get reckless, he had to get past the anger that was still coming off her in waves. He walked in and shut the door behind him before raising and eyebrow at her and saying "I can live with you getting dressed though, I'll just wait right here." He crossed his arms and leaned back against the door.

Kara just rolled her eyes and walked over to the bureau, pulling out a set of tanks, a sports bra, underwear, and a pair of sweats. She went into the bathroom and started to get dressed, leaving the door cracked so she could talk to Lee, "Is this how your room was, too? Tanks, sweats, even our guns? Everything just sitting here, waiting for us?"

She pulled her tanks down over her bra as she walked out of the bathroom, "It's wrong, Lee. And everyone else here, I bet all of their stuff was waiting for them, too. How could anyone know all of us like that? How could anyone get all of us together?"

Kara opened the bureau and haphazardly threw her towel and her flightsuit inside. She pulled out socks and a pair of boots and sat down on the bed to put them on, muttering, "Gods, everything about this is wrong."

Lee watched her finish dressing and reflected on what she was saying. He could hear the anger and doubt there. That was something she needed to do though, that was Kara.

"Exactly Kara, we have everything we need to do what they want. Don't you see? Whatever brought us here is something very powerful and isn't likely to let us get out of here until we do what it wants. Fighting to get out of here isn't going to get us what we want, which is to get back to our people. So let's do what we need to do to get this war over with. Then maybe we can find our way back to Earth. If we win whoever it is that took us will probably send us back there."

"So let's go get some breakfast. Then we can look at the maps I found and you can take me and show me what's different. That way we'll have something to contribute. Or if you still don't want to stay we'll at least know what's changed recently. Maybe that will give us some clues as to how this place works."

He held the door for her and they went and filled up on energy food for their breakfast while they studied the maps he had found. Then he grabbed some protein bars and fruit to stuff in his pack while she filled up two canteens.

Heading out onto the street he saw Colonel Sheppard up ahead approaching the gate he had entered the town through several days before. "John," he called out hurrying his pace to catch up with the other pilot. When they caught up he introduced the two of them. "Sir, this is Captain Kara Thrace. Kara this is Lt Col. John Sheppard. He's a pilot too, a pilot from Earth."

John slowed down when he heard his name being called and then turned around. A smile appeared on his face when he noticed that it was Lee.

"Morning", he called and then glanced at the woman who was with him. He hadn't seen her before. Another new arrival.

When Lee introduced them John nodded. "Nice to meet you, Captain", he said. Then he smiled. Kara, wasn't that the name of the pilot Lee talked about? The best pilot in his opinion. It looked like she had arrived here, too. Too bad they didn't have any planes or space ships to fly. He would have loved to see her fly.

"...If we win whoever it is that took us will probably send us back there."

Kara finished lacing up her boots, "You don't get it, Lee. I don't care what these powerful beings want us to do. This isn't our war. We have our own to get back to, remember? The Cylons? I'm not gonna fight here and just hope we make it back. I'm finding my own frakking way back and you're either with me or you're not."

That being said, Kara followed Lee into a building where they got breakfast. She hadn't realized how hungry she was (and how sick of algae she was) until she had scarfed down five protein bars and a piece of fruit she didn't know the name of. Still, in between chews (okay, during), she managed to compare notes and maps with Lee.

As they left the building, they ran into a man that Lee introduced as Lt. Colonel John Sheppard, a fellow pilot. She responded to his greeting by nodding her head and saying, "Lieutenant Colonel. How long have you been here?"

Lee tensed slightly as he heard pretty much the question Kara had asked John asked from behind him too. Although he'd been aware that someone was moving up behind him for a while he'd figured that John would have warned them if he'd perceived an imminent threat. Lee slowly turned to face the others.

The trio of silver-haired men were on their way to the forest again. Kadaj and Loz were dressed in their leathers but Yazoo was in black t-shirt and jeans. All had their weapons and wore their boots from home.

Loz glanced back and forth from one to the other, wondering if he should walk between them rather than a bit behind. There was no missing the weirdly stressed silence looming over them.

"Why didn't you come back until just before we left this morning?" Loz suddenly demanded, poking Yazoo in the back, unintentionally making his slender brother half stumble. He was surprised when both of them glared back at him as they kept walking. "What?! I know you want to know, Kadaj. So do I." He hunched his broad shoulders forward defensively.

Before anyone said another word, they came upon a group of people who were human by the look of them.

"Are you new here?" Kadaj demanded, standing to the fore as they stopped and looked at the others. He didn't even place his hand on the hilt of his katana though Yazoo did put a hand on his holstered gunblade. Loz was ready to use his Dual Hound if he had to, yet he frowned. These people were supposed to be on their side, weren't they?

Lee looked at the three young men before him. From their features it appeared they were barely out of their teens if even. He was stunned by their silver hair, which two wore long and one short, and remarkable green eyes.

"Good morning to you too," he said without rancor although holding himself ready should this be an attack. "It's the morning of my third day. You?"

John was about to answer Kara when one of the new arrivals spoke. He didn't know them, but thought he had seen them around already. The silver hair stood out.

Glancing from one to the other John took in their weapons. They definitely looked like they were able to defend themselves. His eyes then met the ones of the one who had spoken. Those eyes so didn't look human. But he wasn't too surprised. He was used to meeting aliens for over 4 years now. And neither Lee nor Kara were from earth, so a few more aliens were nothing unusual.

"No, not really", he said. "I've been here for about 3 weeks", he told all of them.

"I was going to explore a bit more of the northern woods, checking if there is any way home. Anyone interested in joining me?", he asked and glanced at Lee, who he already knew at least a bit. They had wanted to swap some more stories anyway and it would be better not to head out alone. They weren't exactly in friendly territory after all.

Kara turned as Lee did to face the newcomers. She felt herself tense up, and not just because the men were strange looking. New people just kept popping up out of the woodwork, and new people meant unknown variables. It set her on edge.

As each of them rambled off how many days they had been stranded, she said, "I got here yesterday afternoon."

Sheppard then spoke of exploring the northern woods and Kara felt a grin take over her face. A man after her own heart. "I'm in. Did some exploring of my own last night, but it's hard to take everything in in the dark. Maybe while we're exploring you can tell us about some of the info you've learned about this place in the last three weeks."

"Good morning," Yazoo decided to say, wanting to cuff Kadaj for a second since Kadaj was supposed to be the smartest, the most tactical of them but he had to learn about using manners sometimes.

"Our third day too," Loz, the largest of them, added as he nodded at these strangers. He looked the most curiously at the woman.

Kadaj focused his attention on the man who had been here the longest. He sized him up as definitely being military, a fact which both interested and repelled him. Through Sephiroth's military experience, he related but his own personality balked at this one assuming he could order Kadaj and his brothers around.

"If there's a way home, we didn't find it yet," he said to Sheppard, nodding. He assessed all the strangers with a quick look. "Perhaps splitting up to explore would work the best and we can meet after to compare notes. You and me." He indicated Sheppard. "Loz and the lady, Yazoo and the other male, to make sure you have someone with you who's more familiar with the terrain," he explained. The woman had only explored at night and they hadn't seen this other man when they went through the forest, so he must not have looked around.

Kadaj knew his brothers wouldn't bother arguing so he gazed steadily at John to see if the man agreed. Extending his gloved hand he said: "My name's Kadaj. What's your rank?"

Lee waited for the young men to finish their introduction to John and while the latter was getting ready to answer their question started to spread the maps he had gotten from the library out on the ground. He'd marked in some of the highlights he remembered from his initial walk in the woods and had also marked some of the things Kara had observed.

John wanted to go north and Lee thought it best if he went in a direction he'd not been in yet. It was practical to get as many pairs of eyes over as much of the terrain as possible as each of them might see something different based on their previous experience.

He'd been pretty certain the three were military with the clothing they were wearing. The question to John about his rank was potentially confirmatory.

Knowing John currently outranked his most recent military rank he decided to cede leadership for the time being. Getting into a debate about rank at this point wasn't going to get them anywhere. He walked over to John and said quietly "You can tell them whatever you want about my rank. I've got the maps when everyone is ready. I'd recommend we all cover a direction we haven't gone in before. I came in from the north."

John smiled at Kara when she declared that she was in.

"Sure", he then said. It wasn't like he learned that much during the past weeks, but he'd tell them whatever he knew.

John then smiled at Yazoo. He seemed more friendly than the other two.

Then he however frowned slightly when Kadaj seemed to decide what they were going to do. He was used to making decisions himself. It wasn't like he didn't listen to superior officers - well, most of the time - but these three slightly strange looking men probably weren't much older than twenty. Suggestions were fine, but the way he already split them up in pairs kind of annoyed John a little, especially when the guy asked about his rank. That meant he knew John was military. He really hoped those guys were not military themselves, or at least Kadaj wasn't. His behavior didn't really speak for his ability to respect and listen to superior officers.

"I'm Lieutenant Colonel John Sheppard, United States Air Force, Earth", he introduced himself. "What's your rank?", he then asked with a slightly raised eyebrow. He wasn't going to just agree to the guys plan, especially not as long as he didn't know anything about these guys.

When Lee approached him he glanced at him and felt a little unsure. What was Lees rank? He had never mentioned it, had he? He only said he was a pilot, if he remembered right.

He then nodded. "Sounds like a plan", he said to Lee and then knelt down to have a proper look at the already outspread map.

"I've been here already. Nothing but nature and animals there", he said and pointed at the west side of the woods. "Haven't checked the mountains and the east side yet. That's where we should go."

Kara was on the same wavelength as John. She didn't appreciate these guys walking in and making decisions for everyone else. She also didn't like the idea of splitting off into a team with a person she didn't know. She'd rather have someone watching her back that she trusted, or no one at all.

As the boys decided to go around the circle and play a rousing game of pin the rank on the officer, she felt herself getting annoyed. Finally, she said, "Does rank really even matter at this point?" She pointed at Sheppard, "You're from a different timeline, a different Earth, whatever." She then looked at three new guys, "We don't even know where you're from. How can we compare ranks? We don't even know how the ranks match up when they're compared to each other."

Okay, so she was constantly bucking the system anyway; it didn't matter what planet she was on---just as Colonel Tigh. That thought earned a wry smile from her. But still, she had a point and she knew it.

"We figure out the best course of action and we take it; end of story."

Kadaj decided these people were stupid, the woman being the worst as she didn't offer any sort of constructive ideas. Even Loz could come up with a better plan than hers. He and Yazoo led Loz over to join the rest at the map and blinked down at it.

"We covered the southern part of the east section, Lieutenant Colonel," Kadaj volunteered, smoothly drawing his double-bladed katana to use it like a pointer. He indicated the invisible line on the map where their own exploration had stopped, deciding to give Sheppard some measure of respect until the man proved himself an idiot, which perhaps he wouldn't. He had no reason to like these humans but anything could happen. Perhaps this colonel was as honest as he seemed to be. Kadaj sheathed Souba and observed Sheppard.

Lee watched closely as one of the young men drew his weapon but wasn't surprised when he used it as a pointer. They hadn't seemed belligerent to this point, only forceful. That wasn't necessarily a bad thing in this situation but Lee reflected that the guy was also making a point.

Bending down to pick up the map he folded it so the section they would need was on the top then slipped it into the pocket on his cargo pants.

"Northeast it is then." He nodded toward the gate, at the corner of the quarters, that would take them briefly across the corner of the area between the two sections of town and gave John a questioning look.

Then he said, "Actually mountains might be a good place to hide the way out of here. Anyone have any climbing gear?"

John turned to look at Kara, not really happy about her words. Of course rank mattered, even he knew that. In a crisis it was important to know who was in charge. If everyone acted on their own orders and ran in different directions everyones life might be on stake. He didn't really care if he was the one in charge or a higher ranking officer, as long as it was someone. Hopefully someone smart.

Right now he wasn't too impressed with Kara or Kadaj. Kadaj and his brothers didn't look old enough to be in charge anyway. That left him and Lee. Lee seemed like a good and smart guy as far as he knew him. And from what he told him he was a leader. He would have preferred to go exploring with him, but if they split up he thought it might be better for everyones sake if Lee was on the other team.

"I think two teams would be better. This might look like a holiday resort, but it's not. People have died here already", he said. Shortly after he arrived someone had been killed. He didn't even know who they were.

"Lee, Kara and... Loz." He glanced at the tallest of the slightly strange looking young men, hoping he got the name right.

"You're with me", he added gesturing at Kadaj and Yazoo. "Everyone ok with that?", he asked more rhetorically. He hoped noone would object or they really would have to get into the whole rank thing. If he had to he would make them all sit down and discuss who was in charge. He might not know these people, but he still wanted to get them back in one piece. In his opinion the best way to achieve that was by working together and having someone in charge to make decisions in dangerous situations. Second-guessing could get people killed.

When Kadaj pointed out where they had already been John nodded.

"Alright, northeast", he agreed.

Glancing at Lee he then nodded. He might be right. "No. But this place seems to have everything we need. We can check the woods today and the mountains tomorrow, after we found the right equipment", he suggested.

"Wish I had a jumper", he then muttered more to himself. Flying over this place would be so much easier. But at least Rodney wasn't there to complain the whole time while they walked. On the other hand he would prefer Rodney to these strangers. He trusted his friend. These people he would have to get to know first.

"Alright, let's go", he hen said and started to walk towards the gate to leave town.

Kara could tell she had pissed off some people with her rank comments. That was nothing new. Her comments tended to piss people off more often than not. Still, how quickly she had managed to do it this time...had to be some sort of record, right?

She scratched her left brow with her finger before crossing her arms, silently listening to John divide them into groups. When he asked if the groups were all right, she nodded her head slightly. Though she would never say it, she was glad Lee was going with her; she knew she could trust him to fly her wing.

"So trust me. I'll fly your wing."

The words echoed in her ears. Kara looked down at her boots while she walked. She had been ready to die. To let go. To embrace what she really feared. Lee said she came back to the fleet knowing the way to Earth...a destroyed Earth. But right now, she didn't know the way. How was this little side trip going to change the timeline? What if she went back and never knew the way to Earth?

Gods, she was starting to sound like Lee.

Kadaj nodded. "Alright," he said to Sheppard, agreeing on his division into a pair of groups for the other two of the silver haired men. He could have argued as easily as he agreed but his intention was to get out there as fast as they could. Not to mention that this way he could observe Sheppard.

Yazoo and Loz exchanged glances for second or two before everyone went through the gate. They weren't going to argue with Kadaj and they could more than handle themselves in war so none of this seemed like a problem.

Lee nodded to the other two on his team and then joined John as he proceeded through the gate. He wanted to make sure they were clear on the mission parameters before the two groups split up.

"Do you want us to cover the eastern part of the sector or the western? Should we go a specific distance or rendezvous at a specific time? Rendezvous out there or back here? If there we need to pick coordinates." He slid his hand down in case he needed the map again.

"I presume we're going to be looking for egress routes from this place as well as terrain analysis for battle. Any other orders before we split up?"

John was glad that noone objected. It would be way easier this way. And arguments between them wouldn't really be a good start at working together.

When Lee spoke John glanced at him, a smile on his face. He had just been thinking about the same. He honestly didn't care who got which part of the sector.

"You can take the western sector", he said. "Let's meet at that lake. Should take us about the same time to get there", he suggested, thinking about the map they had. He then sighed slightly. "Wish we had radios", he said as they entered the woods. He still had his radio from Atlantis, but it wouldn't do him any good here. "We should try to find some for our next trip. This place seems to have everything we need after all." Being able to contact eachother was important after all. Maybe they should all sit down and organize teams, like they had back on Atlantis, to explore more of this place. Well, unless they already found a way home today.

"That's right", he then answered Lee. "Keep an eye out for everything that could be useful." He then thought for a bit.

"Be careful if you run into Wraith", he said, remembering that some of them had been here. "Weird looking aliens with long white hair. If you meet any, don't let them touch you. They suck the life out of people through their hands", he warned. "They are hard to kill, so shoot them several times."

He then gestured to the east, indicating to Kadaj and Yazoo that it was time to split up.

Once the others were out of sight John glanced at the two younger men nearby.

"So, where are you from?", he asked trying to make conversation and get to know his new team members. It was always better if you knew the people you were supposed to fight with in a war.

As he walked through the woods Johns eyes took in their surroundings, looking for anything unusual. So far there was nothing, no indications that people had been here recently, nothing that looked like a way home, just plain nature. He could have been on any kind of planet back home, exploring with his team. But his team wasn't here. He missed them more and more with each day.

The two young-appearing males kept their senses alert as they joined the stranger for this recon. Their green eyes scanned the verdant forest while their ears listened for anything that might be unusual. For a short while they were aware of the other party moving off.

Kadaj fell behind slightly after Sheppard asked his question, deciding Yazoo might as well answer.

"Our world's called Gaia," the long haired warrior said, sidestepping a sapling silently. He moved a lot like a feline on two legs, stealthy and sure. "Where do you come from?"

Everything that she recently found out was a bit much for her and truthfully part of her doubted that she should even be picked for a war. It seemed like so long ago now that her life was normal and now look where she was.

As she continued to walk deeper into the woods she bumped into a few people, one was a man she'd seen around a few times and the other two were two of the three men she met her fist day here in the woods.

"Hello." She called out as she walked towards them. "Hope I'm not interruptin' anything.

John watched the two as they walked. They moved like they knew their way around. There didn't seem to be any uncertainty in their steps and they hardly made any noise. It was a little strange, but they were aliens and stealth was not a bad thing at all.

"Gaia, hm. Never heard of a planet with that name. Which galaxy is it in?", he asked. "I'm from earth. That's in the milky way", he answered.

He then suddenly noticed movement and turned to their left, his p-90 in hand.

A woman was approaching and calling out to them. He thought he had seen her before, which meant that she should be from their side of town. He still kept his p-90 in hand however.

"Hi", he answered, giving her a small smile as she came closer. "No, you're not interrupting anything. We're just looking for a way home."

He watched at her closely, wondering why she was out here alone. This was a dangerous place after all. But then again, he would have gone out alone, too.

The same woman they had found in the woods appeared once more in the woods, so they didn't answer Sheppard's question as they also looked at her. Yazoo tilted his head slightly to the side as was his habit while Kadaj gave her a steady stare but he didn't say anything.

"Ah" She smiled as she continued towards them. "The way home is back" She turned around to point but then just stopped before slowly turning back around to them. "Was back that way or so I thought." Everything seemed to look the same and it seemed that Gwen traveled much further into the forest then she originally thought.

"You know the way back home?", John asked curiously. So far he had met noone who knew how to get out of here. It was especially hard to find it because all of them seemed to arrive at different places.

"I'm Lt. Colonel John Sheppard by the way", he introduced himself while his eyes kept glancing around.

Lee, Kara & Loz

Lee nodded to John to acknowledge he'd heard that his group was to go west. Turning to Loz and Kara he said "I'll take point, Kara why don't you bring up the rear." It wasn't that he didn't trust Loz, he had no reason to distrust him, but this way Kara had his back while Lo still had an option.

"So what's your background?" Lee asked Loz. If they were going to be forced to fight together they'd need to know each others strengths and weaknesses. "Have you had any formal military training?

The woods close to the town seemed to be fairly open although the heavy underbrush indicated there'd been no clearing here for a long time. As they got further from the town wall though the forest started to get a bit denser. Lee considered tightening up the group a bit.

Loz didn't want to leave his brothers but this wasn't like when he had first found himself in this strange place. The only thing that had kept him from panicking then was their telepathic link. It wasn't them reading each other's thoughts so much as feeling the other's mental energies or life force.

Answering the question made Loz move alongside Lee. "Yes, we have," he confirmed, choosing the short answer. He was glad now wasn't the time to maybe explain everything he and his brothers knew originated with one SOLDIER, literally. Kadaj and Yazoo were the talkers who could better relate complicated stories. "I'd like to learn about your weapons," he suggested, "after we're done here. Maybe you'd like to find out about this." He waved his muscled arm with Dual Hound on it while they moved through the woods. Loz was a silent walker.

"They are hard to kill, so shoot them several times."

Aliens. That sucked the life out of people with their hands. This place just got weirder and weirder, didn't it? Still, Kara couldn't help but wonder, if enemies John was familiar with were popping up, did that mean Cylons were going to appear on the island, too?

Like they didn't have enough problems.

Lee told her to take the rear and she fell back behind Loz. She half-listened to Loz's replies about his military training, her eyes scanning the area and her hand resting on top of her gun. After yesterday's surprise attack, she was going to be ready for anything.

In response to Loz's question Lee slung his larger weapon and pulled out his pistol.

"Our pistols are dual purpose and fire projectiles. The regular ammo is 5.7x28 mm and is armor piercing out to about 300 meters. A mag hold 20 rounds. That ammo can't take down a Cylon Centurion though, our explosive rounds work for that, but you have to load them one at a time."

"My other weapon," Lee holstered his pistol again and held up his Personal Defense System, "this uses 4.6x30 mm ammo and the largest mag holds 40 rounds. The ammo's designed to get through tougher armor though so it can take down a Centurion. Plus I've got an optical sight on this."

"Kara's a crack shot so she gets to be our sniper. She's got a carbine with an optical site and a laser target device. It's got a 30 shot mag that uses 9 mm rounds. It's a lot more accurate at range because it doesn't kick as hard as a shotgun would."

Well, the man's answer sounded impressive but a couple of things he said made Loz forget to say anything about his own weapons. He wanted to satisfy his child-like curiosity first, asking: "What's a Cylon Centurion?"

Even though he listened and talked, most of his attention was on studying the terrain around him, while the ever-present, subtle feel of his brothers was there in his thoughts very much like a psychic link. The three didn't read each other's thoughts but they knew all of them were there and well without having to see the others.

"...doesn't kick as hard as a shotgun would."

"Crack shot or not, let's just hope I don't have to use it," Kara mumbled to herself. This wasn't like hopping in a Viper and shooting at toasters, or even like the time she tried to take out Zarek (and what a good time that was). This was an unknown terrain with the possibility of a lot of unknown enemies. She just hoped this simple exploratory mission remained just that.

"What's a Cylon Centurion?"

Kara laughed, "Go ahead, Lee. You're getting good at explaining it."

Lee turned back to her and gave her an exaggerated scowl. It wasn't always fun when she mocked him.

"A Cylon Centurion is a machine. They were originally created by humans to free us from certain tasks. For whatever reason they eventually rebelled. There was a truce, they went away. We didn't hear anything from them for 40 years. When they came back they were different but still appeared mechanical. They weren't the only Cylons to come back though, there are ones that look like humans now too.

Jane walked through the forrest excitedly, following the smell of humans. She could be upon them within seconds, but she had to walk slower because of the others. They were no vampires and couldn't go as fast as she could. A part of her felt annoyed because of it. But another part didn't mind. This way the hunt would take longer, which excited her.

"There are two groups of humans in nearby", she said in a singsong voice, her bloodred eyes sparkling with excitement.

Bellatrix looked at the weird girl. She was curious about her, but wasn't willing to admit it.

"Let's take down one and then the other", she said smiling with anticipation.

Kolya was behind Bellatrix, his gun in hand. He had no idea how the sparkling child knew how many groups of people were in the woods, but he didn't really care. He'd wait and see.
