Who: Ethan Rayne & Rupert Giles
When: Monday, Week Seven - very late at night
Where: Giles' condo
What: Ethan has some news, and it's not very good.
Ethan had left Davan in the library. The boy seemed to be alright for the time being, and Ethan didn't like sticking around. He'd done the kid a favor, may have possibly saved him, even, and that was quite enough, thank you. Ethan didn't like handing out free favors to anyone, and he made a mental note that Davan now owed him one.
He knew that Ripper - Rupert, he corrected, because his old mate didn't like to be called "Ripper" anymore - would very possibly sleeping by now. The Watcher had a terrible habit of sleeping during the night, where Ethan preferred to remain awake for it. Being an old mystic, it was his time of power.
Still, Ethan strode down the hall, the bin holding the cursed clothing tucked under his arm. He could hear it calling to him, trying to assert its hold over him. But Ethan had spent so many years being angry, and he had this spell's number, so to speak.
The condo's living room was dark and empty. Ethan shut the door behind him as he called out, "Rupert, old mate?" No answer came. Ethan set the bin by the table next to the door, and walked toward the bedroom. The room was dark and quiet. On the bed, Ethan could only just discern the shape of his friend asleep, curled up under the blankets. With a grin, Ethan sat on the bed beside the slumbering form. He leaned forward, his face mere inches from Rupert's.
"Rupert," he whispered. Ethan reached out a hand and poked at Rupert's nose, moving the cartilage around, even giving Rupert a pig nose. Ethan laughed under his breath, but Rupert still failed to wake. Well, there was one guaranteed way to wake him.
He stood and wound his way to the foot of the bed. He hesitated for a moment, trying to decide if seeing his friend's blind panic would be worth the possibility of getting punched in the gob. But then, another moment later, he decided "bugger all" and launched himself onto the bed, on top of Giles, all the while yelling, "Wake up you stupid git! The world's going to end!"
