I was running through the woods behind the Cullen's house trying to get Bella out of my thoughts. Ha, like that was even possible. She'd sneaked her way into my head and wrapped herself around my mind, insinuating herself like a snake into my most private thoughts and desires. As much as I loved her I hated that she had such a hold on me. So I was trying to outrun my own brain; outrun the constant, probably unhealthy obsession I had with her.
It wasn't working.
I was so wrapped up in my thoughts that I almost missed the fact that Leah was sitting in the middle of a clearing I was running through. Jeez, so much for the ridiculously acute wolfy senses. Some protector I made. She was supposed to be on patrol. I was a bit annoyed as I phased back into my human form behind a tree, pulling on the jeans I had tied around my neck. It wasn't like Leah to slack off like this.
If she had been a wolf I could have read her thoughts, but she was in her human form.
"Hey, Leah, what's going on?" I asked as I padded into the clearing.
