Summary: Takes place at the end of the day, after Williamson's memo has been sent out. Cormac has to offer Seamus the chance to come to the meeting, even if he'd rather he stay safe.
Cormac hadn't been able to think of anything else but the memo Williamson had sent that afternoon. There hadn't been much information, but it had been enough for Cormac to know it was serious. And the fact that it was to take place at Hogwarts was even more so. That likely meant the Order was involved. Which meant that Colin was involved. Which Cormac liked even less than the fact that the Order was involved. They never talked much about Colin's involvement with the Order, except for Cormac to express how much he didn't like it.
However, it was the fact that he had to let Seamus know about the meeting that was causing him to panic. If this was going to be as dangerous as he thought--and it would probably be as more so, seeing as he had a long-standing habit of underestimating danger--he might not survive. And if Colin insisted upon going, he might not survive either. And if Seamus came too...well he didn't want to think about what might happen, and what that might mean for Emma.
But he couldn't ask either Colin or Seamus to stay behind. It had to be their choice. Cormac himself didn't have one. He was an Auror and he would do what was asked of him. That was his job and his duty. There was no question what he had to do.
Seamus was sitting in the living room with a slumbering Emma and the dogs when Cormac entered, and seemed to be napping himself. Cormac smiled fondly and bent to gently extract Emma from Seamus' arms. Emma murmured sleepily as Cormac carried her up the stairs and to her bed, but didn't wake up as he slipped her under the covers. One of the dogs had followed them up and made himself cozy next to Emma on the bed, one eye peeking up at Cormac as if to reassure him that he would keep Emma safe.
Seamus was awake when Cormac came back down, and Cormac decided to just cut right to the chase. It was always easiest to just rip the bandage right off. "So, if you were presented with a potentially life-threatening mission, would you want to go?"
