Colin hadn't expected Emma to explode like that and for a minute he sat there dumbstruck - he hadn't a clue what he could say to her that would make it better. Because as much as he wanted to promise that nothing was going to happen and everything would be alright, he couldn't really know if that was true.
He was such an idiot.
It took him a second to push himself up off the sofa and run after Emma. When he found her she was still sobbing laying across her bed, her face buried in a pillow. One of the puppies was sitting beside the bed looking rather distraught.
Colin sat down gingerly on the side of the bed, he knew Emma was upset - he didn't blame her, but Merlin he hated this.
"I never did tell you about my mum and dad did I, Em?" He said finally, as Emma's sobs started to die down slightly.
