Remus luxuriated in Severus’ sleepy embrace, the fire’s heat a pleasant warmth on his right side while Severus covered his left. He felt sated on touch as well as sex. “A very Happy Christmas, indeed,” he sighed.
Severus snuffled in his sleep and Remus chuckled. “C’mon, sleepyhead. We need to get to a bed.” Remus gently stroked up and down Severus’ back until the man was purring against Remus’ throat. “Up, Severus,” Remus whispered against his temple.
“But I’m comf’table here,” Severus huffed.
Remus let his lips rub against Severus’ skin as he spoke. “But if we were in a bed, we’d be comfortable and naked.” Remus writhed under Severus’ weight. “And since you’d be naked with me, perhaps we could—”
“Up!” Severus rolled to the side, jumped up, and pulled Remus from the rug in front of the fire. “My bed’s right through here.” Remus smiled at Severus’ sudden energy and went along willingly.
The bedroom was nothing like he’d imagined. The wood wasn’t dark; it was burnished cherry wood, almost like flames had been carved into a bed…a very decadent bed. Remus barely saw the dark blue coverlet as it was folded down to the foot of the bed, but he saw the silky cotton sheets in pale violet edged in midnight blue as Severus laid him down, and he felt the pillows give under his shoulders and head as Severus kissed him.
He only had eyes for Severus after that kiss, watching the lean length of his lover finally revealed. Remus noted a scar along his ribs, a birthmark that looked remarkably like a quarter moon, and skin…miles and miles of pale skin dusted with dark hair. He saw the trail of hair that sprouted under Severus’ navel and led down to that wonderful member he’d only really felt. Remus licked his lips and missed Severus’ calculating, if loving, look.
“Brace yourself,” Severus advised and jumped onto the bed, and Remus, with a whoop. They laughed and then bumped into each other, elbows and knees avoiding sensitive areas with luck. Once Severus was fully atop Remus he aligned their cocks and just stared into Remus’ eyes, their bellies quivering together.
“Your eyes are as changeable as the Aurora Borealis, Remus.” Severus kissed him, watching Remus’ eyes darken. As it went on, Severus pushed his magic out and a reflection of the real Aurora appeared above his bed, writhing and coiling in upon itself in vivid greens and golds and blues.
“Showoff,” Remus muttered against Severus’ lips. He smiled to take the sting away from his words and Summoned the kissing ball wandlessly, setting it spinning within the Aurora Borealis.
“Touché,” Severus smirked. He let his body drape over Remus, enjoying the contact from calves to chest. “Mistletoe and holly, ivy and magic, we’ve all the ingredients for a very proper Yule celebration.”
“Then, let’s celebrate…” Remus sighed into Severus’ ear. He bucked and reminded Severus he had a willing man in his bed and his arms. “You be the Oak King and I’ll be the Holly King and you can slay me over and over with that mighty sword poking at my pole.” Remus grinned, his face flushed and his eyes darker than before.
“Oh, aye, let’s do that.” Severus rolled over and let Remus lead. Caresses and kisses led to pleas, much like before. But this time, Remus begged Severus make him shimmer like the Aurora, to shake apart and then put him back together. Severus snapped his fingers and a pot of lube came flying out of the shadows, almost hitting Remus in the head. Neither deigned to notice, except that Severus had the top off with only three fingers and then coated two of those fingers and traced a cool, slippery path between Remus’ buttocks.
Remus keened and bit Severus’ shoulders when the fingers fluttered over his arsehole. When Severus worked them in, scissoring, twisting, Remus clenched around them and rolled his hips. They worked together to prepare Remus until he couldn’t wait anymore.
“Severus…” Remus pleaded. “Now…” he gasped as Severus put his knees up behind him and guided his legs to either side of his hips.
Remus knelt over Severus and slowly rocked forward, teasing Severus and himself until Severus took charge and guided him onto his prick. They held their breaths, the Aurora Borealis and the kissing ball spinning around. Slowly, ever so slowly, Remus sank down, his teeth worrying his bottom lip. When he was in Severus’ lap, they both breathed out slowly.
“Does the Holly King yield?” Severus asked in a husky voice. He pushed Remus up slightly and settled him down, up and down, until Remus’ fingers curled into his chest, tugging the curls there.
“Does the Oak King have to ask?” Remus gasped out. He lifted himself higher, pushing against Severus’ chest, his thighs straining. He rode Severus slowly as he tried to watch Severus’ face, trying to see the moment Severus couldn’t take it any longer.
“Then the Oak King should slay the Holly King with great kindness…” Severus began thrusting up, meeting Remus on each downward slide, jolting him. His long fingers bit into Remus’ hips and he finally rolled them over to thrust savagely into Remus.
“Yes! Yes!” Remus cried. He opened himself to Severus, welcomed him with moans and long, sliding strokes over his back and buttocks. He kissed every bit of skin he could reach. Then, Remus felt light, and fell over the crest with an enthusiastic cry.
Severus’ tendons stood out and he grunted out his completion as he felt Remus pulse against his stomach, otherwise untouched. The Aurora faded slightly and the kissing ball grazed his shoulders before floating back into the air.
Severus looked at the man sleeping on his shoulder. He carded his fingers through greying sandy brown hair, marveling at how thick and clingy it was. The candles had long since guttered out and only the false Aurora Borealis lit his bed. The play of colors over his pale skin and Remus’ golden one were breathtaking, if he thought so himself.
“I can hear you thinking, Severus,” Remus puffed against Severus’ throat.
“Since it’s about you and I, that’s good to know.” Severus smiled, an open smile that his snaggled teeth couldn’t detract from.
“Happy Christmas, Severus.”
Severus looked down into Remus’ eyes. “Happy Christmas, Remus.” He smirked. “Can’t wait to see what you do for Summer Solstice.”
Remus turned Severus’ face toward him and kissed the smirk away. “We’ll have to practice throughout the New Year, love.”
“Mm, I dare say we start as we mean to go on…”
In the heart of Hogwarts the ancient magicks woken earlier twisted and strengthened, flowing along prehistoric channels to replenish the wards and other spells of the castle. It tingled from cellars to attics with the influx of power.
Peeves whooped through the halls, chased by the Bloody Baron and his knights.
Albus and Phineas and Jamie sat in Dumbledore’s portrait, sipping Firewhisky filched from another painting. “Here’s to a year of wonder!” Albus toasted.
“Here, here!” Phineas agreed and raised his glass. “What a gift for the New Year!”
Jamie grinned as he felt the ripples of magic racing through the castle. “Oh, aye! Ta tha boys and their magic! Long may they love!” He raised a horn and Albus and Phineas touched glass rims with him.
All around them, Hogwarts came alive once more. Near the Hufflepuff stable a bower of holly, ivy, and oak began to grow as snow began to fall softly once more.
