As Harry and Draco sobered up, Severus left Remus to watch over them. He slipped through his bedroom door, closing it behind him with a sigh. Resting against the thick oak, Severus closed his eyes and remembered Remus’ kisses, drawing strength from the memories—and the tingles coming alive under his skin. He sighed and wriggled his bare feet, musing on the rapt look Remus had given them as he’d stalked all around his living room. “Best find my other socks,” he muttered.

A burst of laughter came through the door and Severus wondered if it might be directed at him—for just the barest of instants—then he shook the thought out of his head. “Lupin is courting me, thus, the laughter is not directed at me,” he said aloud.

He pulled open a drawer, wincing at the holiday-themed socks Albus had pressed on him over the years. Finally, he pulled out a pair of deep black socks with relatively tasteful crossed candy cane wands embroidered around the toes and band. Next, another pair of boots, similar to his wet ones went on his feet and Severus sighed again. “Ahh,” he breathed out. “Nothing like a warm pair of socks and a stout pair of boots to make a man feel like a man.”

Knock, knock.

“Yes, yes. I’m coming.” Severus pulled the door open as Remus raised his hand to knock once more. His changeable eyes flickered down and Severus fancied he could see a hint of sadness at his covered feet cross Remus’ face. Interesting, he thought to himself, Good to know we have something else in common.

Remus rocked back on his heels. “The hot chocolate's come, Severus. Care to join me?” Remus asked with a smile. “We can torture Harry and Draco as they sober up…”

Smirking, Severus nodded, glanced over Remus’ shoulder and saw that young wizards were sharing his smoking chair now. He reached forward, put his finger under Remus’ chin and guided the man forward for a swift kiss. He murmured against Remus’ lips as he pulled away, “I’d rather suck you like a candy cane, but I’ll make do.”

Remus nodded, his eyes unfocused as the image played behind them.

“Now I’m ready.” Severus turned Remus around and pushed him toward the living room.

But, Severus did what I learned to do: say the truth aloud for reinforcement. Remus is courting him and laughing at him wouldn't do his case any good.

I think, like all insecure people learning to navigate through life, Severus might fall back into what he was used to, but he realizes that there's more good now than before.

As to Severus' teasing, I think that's the unrequited sexual frustration growling. *lol*

	It's one of those things that one keeps to himself until comes the time to put it into use, so to speak. I often picture Severus with a great many leather shoes and boots of high quality, but it's what's inside that counts. lol (Reply to this) (Parent)

	I had my own self-esteem beaten up and I just had Severus do what I have to still do sometimes. But, he's a quick study and basking in Remus' attentions would make anyone throw out the bad thoughts. As to that promise...well, the Solstice is coming... (Reply to this) (Parent)
