Remus turned the corner and entered Severus office, his arms laden with an enormous basket of mistletoe.

"Lupin, my office hours are for students not for fellow staff members."

"I know Severus, but I brought you some mistletoe."

"Some? It looks as if you stripped the entire bloody forest."

Remus sniffed. "Not the whole forest just one small section. There is still plenty out there."

"You do realise that for the mistletoe to be useful for medicinal purposes one needs to know what the host plant species was." Severus unconsciously stroked one waxy leaf.

"I know. I did take both Potions and Herbology same as you."

"Then what is the point of all of this?" Severus waved his arm over the basket.

"Do you imagine you will steal a kiss as has become the tradition if one is caught under it with another? It was wise of you to bring a basketful, since I predict that if I find so much as one leaf and berry dangled above my head they will be incinerated."

"Actually, Severus I prefer an older meaning held by this particular plant." Remus stated as he let his fingers caress a group of the small white berries. "In pre-Christian times mistletoe was seen as a representation of divine male essence and hence romance, fertility and vitality."

Severus shifted in his chair. "And at the mere mention of sexual gratification I should leap from my chair and press you to the nearest hard surface?"

Remus grinned. "That's one plan."

"Then the basketful represents the number to times you endeavor to affect release?"

Remus' blue-green eyes twinkled. "It's a start."

Severus snorted. "Werewolves are apparently far more randy than I ever gave them credit for.."

"And.." Remus prompted.

"And I believe we should begin now." Severus stated as he picked up a spring and ran the fat translucent berry over his bottom lip.
