day four!

Day four! Keep it up you guys! Weekends are hard on me too because I work, so I'll have some work to do to get to today's word goal of 4044!

I know I posted a musical prompt yesterday, but TODAY'S ALMOST OVER and I'm flustered trying to find something inspirational that isn't music. Also I'm a sleepy-head, so this song fits. I hope the music makes you feel something. I know this makes me giddy and makes me feel young, so maybe you can write something young and fresh!

Just a heads-up that I changed the code for the 40forty community to include your total word-count when you're updating.

day three!

Hey everyone! It's day three, and your word count should now be 3033. I love that you're all posting so much. Don't stop now, you're doing great!

Your prompt today is a beautiful song by the Fleet Foxes called White Winter Hymnal. I think of it as sort of a new Christmas song, but there isn't really anything Christmassy about it. However, I am SO DAMN COLD TODAY so I thought of it! It's a beautiful piece of music and I hope it inspires you in some way.

day two!

It's day two here on 40forty, and I'm so happy to see that so many of you wrote yesterday! Your word goal for today is 2022 words.

To help get you there, here's a beautiful piece of photography by Greg Kade, featuring Abbey Lee Kershaw. Hopefully it will inspire you in some way or another.

Hi there!

I'm Kat, and I'm here from the lovely not-snowy Olympic city itself. Don't you just love the irony?

I go to school; I take the bus; I geek out about politics; I geek out about musical theatre; I don't get enough sleep; I demonstrate that I love the English language with every semi-colon and literary device that I name. I also RP Harry Potter and Glee, because it's fun. I also procrastinate and harbour love for tea and chocolate and all things British.

This would appear to add up to "I am an odd child", but whatever.

My schedule jumps from place to place like anything, so the short form is that I'm basically out all day on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and the rest just comes and goes as it will.

Anyway, I'm on AIM as sungonabraverday, and I look forward to meeting you!

better late than pregnant. i'm mick, i'm 20, i haven't made an ooc intro in like a year, so this is way weird for me! i quit harry potter roleplaying about a year ago to focus on other things, and while i think it was a great move for me as far as branching out and trying new things, i feel like my writing has pretty much gone down hill. i'm on a hiatus from most of my games right now to focus on getting all my inspiration and motivation back and when i stumbled across this yesterday morning, it looked like JUST the thing i needed! i'm really easily intimidated by other people and how well they write, so there's a 98% chance that i'll start handing out the compliment cookies very soon! i'm pretty random, and i swear to god i have the WORST internet ADD known to man, so if we're ever talking on aim, don't feel too bad if i randomly disappear due to something shiny i stumbled upon! i stalk amber heard because i think she's perfect and my favorite band is kings of leon. i'm AIMable at POLITE IIN PUBLIC, which i should probably sign onto, and i think that's it! i look forward to reading what everyone has to write, and i look forward to writing my own stuff!

Fashionably late to the party, as always.

Well, hello there. I'm Raechl. There isn't much I don't enjoying saying about myself (please note the sarcasm) so I'm settling with just saying the bare essentials to avoid a long, rambling post.

(still, sarcasm; but I appreciate your attentiveness)

I'm nineteen, I'm currently in the lovely fuck I hate this state Oregon and will be for probably the next, oh, two weeks. Beside that, I've been writing for a long, long time. So long, I don't even feel like looking back at it and counting it up. So "long" will just have to suffice until I can be bothered to count properly.

I'm excited to read things and will probably, myself, be focusing mostly on belting out original fiction because I like harboring characters like children.

You can reach me at supercat malloy via aim if you'd like to chat, and I'm always up finding awesome people or having them find me.

Here is the first of the daily prompts! Don't feel pressured to use it, it's just a suggestion in case you're having trouble getting started.

Two characters have not seen each other for ten years. A lot has changed in their lives, and neither is the same person that the other knew.

Include the words: stick, butter, stairwell.

Also, let me know how you would like to get prompts. Does a scenario like the one above suit you, or would you prefer just a jumble of words that might spark something? Would you prefer if I set up a prompt table? Let me know!

DAY ONE!

Hey everybody! Welcome to day one of 40forty! I know there aren't that many of us, but if anyone wants to be a late-comer to the party, I don't mind. You can catch up at any time.

For those of us who are here, YAY AND WELCOME! I have a really good feeling about this.

Your word goal today is 1011 words, and it can be done in any format. If you don't get around to posting daily, you can just double up your words the next day or catch up whenever you have the chance. No pressure!

Looking forward to seeing you all posting! I'll be working on mine, a drabble I think, when I get home from grocery shopping. Woo woo! EXCITED. OMG.

Also, I made us a twitter for doing word sprints. I'll be online there quite frequently, and we can all write together! click me - unfortunately 40forty was taken by some TIT who only made two very useless tweets, so I had to make it 40fortysprint.

Looking forward to writing with all of you!

Intro

Hey! I'm Keeks and I don't know any of you. But that's okay, I'm looking forward to getting to know you. I'm 22, I live in the rocky mountains and I hate it. Kidding. I hate the snow. I've done nanowrimo every year since 2006, but I've only won twice. I'm on AIM at keeleyknn or YIM as keeley_keenan and I can be reached most nights. During the days I'm usually at work, because, alas, I'm not an award winning novelist yet.

Anyway, hit me up anytime, I love meeting new people!

Hi there! I'm Alex and know some of you already. I'm 19, Australian and an all round geek. I've been writing since 2003 (mostly fanfiction) and roleplaying seriously since Sep 2008. I've done Nano a few times but never have won *cries* but hopefully I can do something this year. I won [info]rpwrimo last year so hopefully this won't be that hard... right?

You can find me on AIM the most at moonsdreaming but I also have YIM/MSN/Gtalk if preferred. Email is bookworm1987@gmail.com

A lot of my writing has disappeared with my old webhost disappearing/laptop dying but I still have some around the place. I'm slowly posting it at [info]arevolvingworld.

So yeah, thats me in a nutshell.

Introduction

My name is not Alice, and I really don't want to give too much away about myself. That doesn't bode very well for an introductory post, does it?

I am getting closer to thirty, and I have been writing for a very long time. My interest started in high school (though some could argue it started when I was much younger with a series of illustrated stories about ghosts), and it has seen me through poetry, fanfiction, short stories and now long form writing. I am primarily interested in reading original fiction, though for the purposes of this exercise I will, of course, read everything that gets posted.

I am greatly looking forward to everyone's efforts, and to getting back in the game, as it were. I wish you all the best!

[info]indigo_n_orange

Um, hello everyone.

So, I saw this on my flist cause I was/am friended to [info]andsoisyourface and I'm nosy and said to myself "oo, this is a fun little idea."

So here I am. And I'm babbling already even though there aren't really all that many people here.

I'm Patty. I'm currently 21 and I'm in my senior year of college. I'm getting my degree in anthropology and am currently interning at my local medical examiners office as well as volunteering at a human identification lab. I have a slightly morbid sense of humor because of it.

I love writing. I've been doing it for years and I suffer from the curse of having too many ideas and no ending point in sight. This always kept me away from NaNoWriMo since I couldn't keep a linear idea long enough for the word count. But I'm hoping this set up will suit me better!

I'm not sure if I'll make the goal, given how busy that I'll likely be with this being my last semester, but I like the idea of something other than school work to put energy into. So here I am ^_^

I'm available on aim at LTLfrog. Um... I'm not exactly sure what else to say... *waves*

Even though this community is empty and I feel like a bit of a tosser for posting when there's nobody out there, I can't bear the thought of this place opening and being all NUDE and NAKED LIKE. It needs a post in here!

So here it is.

Some people know me as Effy, some as Rena, so I will respond to either. I'm 25, I work in a bookshop and I am doing a Medical Secretary course. What I really want to do is write, but I am all too aware of my own procrastination and frankly, I need to at least pretend to have a real job before I hit the big time as a super-mega-foxy-awesome author.

For now, I sell shitty chick lit to people who think they like to read, but they're really full of generic fluff. Ooh I just went all bitter then, like sucking a lemon!

I made this community because I want the sort of drive and determination I had while doing NaNoWriMo - this year I actually reached the 50k, and it was such an amazing feeling! If I write 40440 words now, I'll have most of my novel done. That is, of course, if I write my novel here... I'll probably mix it up, throw in a bit of rp/drabbles and original fiction to keep me interested.

Anyway, I love to chat, so add me on AIM as trixytonks if you'd like to! I can't wait to meet all of you... at least, I hope people join. Otherwise this is one fucker of a lonely post.
