Who: Stefan and Stiles What: road trip to get some mountain ash Where: leaving Everett and heading to Cali When: the morning before Scott McCall's arrival to the prison Warnings: zombies will probably wanna snack on Stiles
Stefan tossed his bag into the backseat of the jeep. Stiles was still nowhere around so he waited wondering if this would even work. Bonnie had given them a pin point position, but still, something stirred him. He figured the main thing he was worried about was running out of fuel, then not being able to find more. Even if it did come down to that, he had ways to get them both back to prison and besides, he heard Faith's words loud and clear in this head ...'If you don't come back with Stiles don't bother coming back at all.' Words that she meant to say the least. He'd do whatever he had to do to make sure that Stiles came back safe.
It was almost a relief that he was going in the first place. He wanted to leave the prison walls, get away for a day or two, he didn't mind it. He felt closed in, almost trapped, even with going out to town, but just as Katherine had told him, the town supplies were starting to run low, so he wasn't sure how long the raids would last unless they tried a new town. He could understand why Damon wouldn't go to Katherine for help. He hated her and that was apparent with how he spoke about her. Stefan kept his feelings on Katherine to himself, not agreeing with Damon, but not disagreeing his idea of her either. She was still manipulative, still a sneak, but Katherine had helped him with Klaus in the end, even in her own way and for that he would help her, warning her of anything that could possibly come her way. It was something that Damon probably wouldn't understand, but during an apocalypse, every angle needed to be played and Stefan was willing to play it in order to get what he wanted. He would do anything to keep those that he cared about safe. That would never change.
Stefan had heard him before he saw Stiles walking toward the jeep, his own bag in tow and Stefan opened up the back for him. A few weapons were in view, but Stefan didn't bring much. An axe and a few others were all that he needed. He figured this would be an in and out job and the most they would see were zombies. They could surely get away from zombies if need be.
Stefan held onto the map that would take them to where the ash was growing. It was far and the fact that they had to take back roads would make it even longer. They had to conserve on fuel also, but Stefan brought a hose so he could siphon gas out of the abandoned cars they were sure to pass, if they still had any left.
"Ready?" Stefan asked. He had told Damon where they were going and how they were getting there, thanks to Bonnie's spell. It was back up in case something did happen and Damon had to come looking for them. Stefan didn't think it would come to that, but everything was unpredictable these days. He couldn't count on anything.
