Who: Viktoria, Inna and Nathan
What: Finishing it the only way she can see fit
When: after her goodbye to Dimitri
Where: the house in the projects
Warnings: Suicide, death, vampire violence
She'd been fighting not to give Nathan real tears. It wasn't always easy. Viktoria was strong, she was proud and even brave, but she was still a girl facing her biggest fear. A Strigoi who had taken her brother from her once, and was making it clear he would do it again. If he couldn't get what he wanted with the Queen and Dimka, he planned to turn Viktoria. Any way to make Dimitri pay for not being his bitch when he took him in the cave while Dimitri was trying to save others.
The sobbing was loud as she typed back to her brother during his goodbye. During his request for her to promise to live and help others to see the world used to be beautiful. That all hope was not lost. Nathan looked as pleased as he had ever looked, and she hated him. She hated him so much, but she was distraught. There was only one way to save her brother and the Queen. One way to end all of Nathan's plans. Because he would not get his cold dead heart's desires. Not after all he had done.
She'd watched him punish Inna for her kindness to Viktoria. She'd endured the things he made Inna do to her, the things he did to her to test Inna's loyalty, and she'd seen her brother make his decision. Her life for his. No doubt he had a plan to protect the Queen. She wouldn't believe he would let her die, but he was going to sacrifice himself for them.
No. No, he would not because Viktoria was going to end this. She would be brave like her brother. She let him have his second life. His happiness with Roza. He'd be the one to show their family what he wanted them shown. Viktoria new what she had to do, and once she made the choice it was like a weight lifted from her shoulders. Nathan went out to bring his minions upt to speed. He was so arrogant. So sure he would win. That would be his downfall.
"Let me be alone. He's going to die. You're going to let my brother die to please a man who shows you no respect. Give me time to grieve him and his sacrifice." Her words were cold. Usually Inna was the only bit of comfort she had, but Inna would stop her. She'd been given orders to make the final preparations anyway. So it wasn't a big deal to toss Viktoria back in her place with no windows. No reminders of what was going on outside the place she was being kept as leverage for an unspeakable act.
She prayed for her soul. That God somehow would understand this mortal sin would be for the greater good. She prayed her brother and her mother and sisters would forgive her. She prayed that her sister, her friend, Roza, would take care of her Dimka and the rest of the family when they would be reunited one day. She did not pray for courage. Hands shaking, she knew she could do this. It was the only way. He could not have an exchange without a live baby sister to give. Dimka and Roza's rage would finish him and Inna and the minions. She did pray that Natasha would be alright. She reminded Viktoria of home and she wished she could have lived longer to know her.
Grabbing one of the blankets she quickly moved to the bathroom that held no window, no glass. No way to make this quicker. It was an older place and there was pipes on the ceiling. It was all she needed. Climbing up to the sink she looped one end of the blanket around the pipe and tied it tight. With a deep breath she fastened the other end around her neck and hoped this would be quick. It was likely Inna would be in to check soon. She tried to find a memory that would allow her to jump. It came to her rather quickly. A little girl, the youngest of four children, begging her brother to teach her to fight.
"I want to be a Guardian like you. I want to protect people and be brave."
He did not laugh. He did not mock. Instead he taught and she tried to prove she was worthy of his time. His breaks at home between school were not that long. He had friends he could be spending time with.
He believed in her.
Hopefully he would understand that the truth Viktoria knew was absolute. The world needed Dimitri Belikov to live. It was why he had his second chance. He would ensure Nathan could never hurt anyone he loved again. Dying for those reasons? That was worth it.
So she jumped so she could embrace death and end it all, once and for all.
