Well now she was just all kinds of creeped out. She practically had a death grip on his hand as he lead her through the woods. The moon was bright in the sky but the branches overhead mostly blocked it from view. That left a very dark forest and Serena stumbling along behind Damon who she knew could see quite well in the dark. Vampires did seem to have an unfair advantage all over the place. It was no wonder that humans such as herself were such a rare commodity these days.
Damon stopped suddenly and Serena oomphed as she bumped straight into his back.
"What is it?" she whispered. She wasn't even sure why she was whispering. Vampires would still hear her and so would zombies for that matter. They seemed to hear things that's why people were always so freaked out about using guns. Serena wasn't sure that they would ever fully understand how the zombies worked.
She heard another rustling now, and a low moan. It was the unmistakable sound of zombies and more than one of them. At least five. Serena had survived two hordes before and each one of them had struck a terrifying chord with her. The second she had barely escaped with her life and she remembered it sounding a lot like this. Only the last times she could see what was happening.
Ignoring Damon's advice she grappled for the flashlight out of her backpack and quickly flipped the switch. Suddenly at least three dozen zombies were lit up in her spotlight.
