Faith felt bad about what had gone down between her and Jack. Back when he had first arrived and she had discovered his secret, she had trusted him with her own life, trusted him with the lives of everyone in the prison. She had allowed herself to be vulnerable in front of him, a side of herself that she never showed anyone, not even Connor and Emily. But since then a divide had spread a gap between her and The Captain and while she had tried to blame it on him, she knew he was right. It was partially her own fault for not checking up on him more. There were just so many balls in the air and Faith only had so many hands to juggle them.
As much as she hated to cancel her date with her sexy girlfriend, she had damage control to do with Jack and that took priority. It was days like these that she wished, like she had told Dean, that she could just say to hell with it. Grab her scythe and her stake and go. She could fend for herself out there. She didn't need to stay in a dead city filled with beings that wanted her head on a stick. She could cut and run. She knew that Connor and Emily would come with her. But like the glutton for punishment that she was, she stuck around.
She wasn't worried about Buffy and Angelus kidnapping her. While Stefan, Dimitri and Connor scrambled to ensure her own safety, Faith hardly gave it a thought. It wasn't exactly news that Buffy and Angelus wanted her, wanted to hurt her, wanted to turn her, wanted to make her a monster. And she knew that Dimitri was right. If she gave in, if she gave them their way then she would make it her personal mission to torture and torment everyone she cared about, including Jack. A man who could feel pain but never died would be like the best toy ever to a vampire. Faith never wanted to find out what she would do with that information if she became a vampire. She hoped that Connor would do what was right and stake her if it came to that. But then again, she wasn't exactly giving Buffy the same courtesy.
"Penny for your thoughts?" Faith said softly as she walked up to Jack standing at the edge of the roof and stood beside him. "Nice view." The view was beautiful from the roof, from here you could almost pretend that the city below wasn't torn to shreds by raiders, vampires and zombies. She handed him the bottle of whiskey without saying anything. "Sorry, I didn't bring any glasses. Guess I'm not very classy."
