Rebekah understood that something was very wrong with her. The hunger pains refused to subside, that little taste of the man she had been with.... it hadn't been nearly enough. The beast inside of her hungered for more blood, it wanted more, always more. What sort of monster had she become? And while this was the most frightening of circumstances, there were other questions that remained unanswered. How had she come to be in this strange place filled with strange people who spoke queerly and dressed just as oddly?
She hadn't moved from the building. As unfamiliar as it was, it had four walls and a ceiling to keep her safe from the elements. Eventually her parents or one of her brothers would find her, wouldn't they? When Rebekah was a little girl she had once wandered off into the forest and gotten lost for one whole day and one night. Scared, cold and alone she had hidden in a tree trunk for most of that time to avoid the werewolves that had stalked her village. She had thought she was doomed for sure when she heard footsteps approach until her brother Niklaus pulled her from her hiding spot and carried her home. Now she waited for him once again to come and find her and carry her home, back to safety. Perhaps her mother would be able to explain all these strange events.
In the meantime, just as she had when she was a child, Rebekah continued to hide. She had no idea if werewolves tormented the people here. This place was full of inexplicable things and she was one of them. Gone was the strong vampire woman of over a thousand years and in its place a frightened young girl huddled on a dirty mattress in a dark apartment.
Her heart pounded in her chest when she heard approaching footsteps. Could this be Nik coming for her? She wanted to hope but she remained guarded as the door slammed open and four intruders appeared. Not one of them was Nik and she only recognized one of them as having been here on the same day she had attacked that man. Rebekah stood up unsteadily and looked at the four of them. They looked ready to kill, danger gleaming in all of their eyes.
"What do you want from me?!" she shouted, voice trembling. She wondered if her brothers would hear her if she began shouting for them.
