This wasn't a game but Dimitri knew better than to say that to Connor. The difference between the two of them as vampires was that Dimitri hadn't considered his time with Rose as a game either. He'd toyed with her in order for her to choose immortality on her own, but it wasn't a game. It had been strategy. An objective to complete in order to gain even more power and overtake his old mentor who had fallen and made a name for herself as Strigoi.
The smallest of twitches crossed his lips at Abigail's name. The attack against her and Nathan hadn't felt in line with the rest but that could have been the point. She struck a certain chord in a lot of people that the others didn't. Now she was a vampire just like Connor and Nathan wore the guilt for not being able to save her.
"And you're willing to take that risk." It was a statement not a question. Dimitri knew that one way or another someone wasn't going to walk away from this fight tonight. At first he'd wondered if Connor would risk not being able to turn him but the two men were too much alike. After trying to turn Rose and her nearly killing him, Dimitri had changed his plans and sought after her to kill her. She was too much of a threat to let live.
"We both like to keep our secrets close to the chest." They'd often told each other their secrets or thoughts that weren't told to the general public, but those days were gone forever.
