Who: Thor What: Receiving a message When: Today Where: His cabin (that he built himself) Warnings: None Note: Mentions of events from Thor: The Dark World
Weeks had passed since he had last heard from Heimdall through the Bifrost and each day that passed began to worry Thor more and more. He had become distracted in his quest to find the fallen soldier turned into one of the vampires that terrorized the town. The citizens of the town were worried when he would strike next and many had decided to leave town. Thor knew that if he were able to track the boy, he would be able to destroy him for good, however, his time was not spent solely on tracking Connor but helping to keep his friends and charges protected. He failed one of his Moroi friends during the days Dick Roman and his beasts were preying on the town, but Thor was determimed for that to not happen again.
Thoughts of Asgard and the possible reasons for the silence plagued his mind and Thor became distracted. He took patrols and assisted his friends and the Avengers in their searches, but his mind was not focused. Agents Romanoff and Barton were still missing in action, so he directed his attention on finding them instead of the vampire. It wasn't very long ago that Thor was rescued by Connor himself when the demon truck of creamed ice came for him. Helping his friends hide from this same warrior was a tragedy and one he felt a responsibility to fix any way that he could.
Another day passed and Thor was skinning a deer he had found in one of his traps when he was sure he heard a voice calling him. If anyone else were to be standing there with him they wouldn't have heard it but to him it was as clear as day. It was not so much an audible voice as it was inborn in the Asgardian to hear the gate keeper when he called for him. Heimdall.
"Odin wishes for you to return."
"What has happened? Is my father well?"
"Your father and mother are both well, but you are needed in Asgard immediately. The Dark Elves have come upon us."
Dark Elves? They were not but legend to Thor and those of Asgard. He knew the old stories of when Malekith sought to overtake the nine realms, but he had been destroyed. Hearing of his people now only confused Thor, but Heimdall sensed his uncertainty and cut him off before his thoughts became manifest.
"Jane Foster is here."
Thor froze. "Jane? How is that possible?"
"Lady Sif brought her when it was discovered Ms. Foster unwittingly happened upon an ancient weapon. It is urgent you return."
Unable to think properly, Thor had no words. He knew that he needed to return but he'd forged bonds here that he could not abandon. Could he?
"I will look for you at this time tomorrow, my friend. Tell Jane I will be with her soon."
There was no reply but Thor knew Heimdall had heard him. It had been nearly two years since he'd been back to Asgard and he knew he had changed a great deal. Time would tell if that was for the better or for worse in Odin's eyes, but he would return home to fight the Dark Elves and restore order. He simply was unsure if he would be able to remain in Asgard entirely.
